I just bought a large lot of 0.015uF Russian FT-1 teflon caps to use to bypass the output caps. I'll include these with those who are interested in the kit (basic or no-so-basic).

ok, I need a quick sanity check. Amplifier input impedance is somewhat arbitrary for the Pass F4, but let's assume 47k, which is the default. Output impedance of my preamp is 100k, with coupling capacitor. My soon-to-be speakers have a f3 of 40 Hz and the driver I'm going to use in my future-to-be speakers has a fs of 48 Hz (it's a 15 cm driver), f3 undecided. I'm considering a 3uF capacitor with a small bypass, maybe 10nF. So, I'm getting 1/(pi*47k||100k*3uF), or fc = 1.66Hz. Opinions?

nice. what are the loading recommendations for this? 1k or so?

what, they invented the fucking thing? I'm not going to touch another Single Power amp whether it's on or off until I've seen what's inside. -
The 6016 is $36.97 in natural, $41.95 in black plus shipping.
-
here are the quotes for the Y236007 5 pcs: $18.48 each + $13-ish shipping ($21 each) I think this is a good enough price point to move on, so I'll send some PMs out to people who expressed interested in a parts kit.

hum a hum a hum... I think I'll be trying something from here: Wolgram Products- Sescom Enclosures prices are right and they look decent to boot!
-
heh. I just was on their site did you purchase them direct? There was another company back that I found that made cases that look like the little creek headphone amplifiers, and like the Whest phono preamps, but I cannot seem to find them now.. oh well. edit: found 'em: www.nutech-eng.com

any recommendations on a nice little case that could fit a single PCB? They are 7"x5"x~3" high. The largest Hammond is oh so close..

I plan on using a chassis mount rectifier bridge and then a single cap which will be mounted with a clamp. I'll probably leave out the AC filtering. I contacted an individual who sells Pearl kits asking for a few psu boards, and he didn't reply to me

these look sweet: Low Voltage Transformers - 30v to 200v SNC Transformer 30v @ 0.5 amps (TP) 25-3006 SNC transformer, hermetically sealed. Harris P/N: 472-0643-000.

Excellent! I just sent them an e-mail.

hey, thanks! I wonder what the price is less than 10. I suppose its either those or the Avel donuts I posted above: - Avel Y236107 qty 1 = $22.47 + $11.39 shipping ($33.86 each) qty 5 = $21.35 + $13.55 shipping ($24.06 each) I think half of the interested parties in the parts kit wanted a "budget" version, so perhaps the Avel makes more sense here... Opinions?

Also, the picture attached looks like a PCB mount... Opinions?

The example would better be if it went like this: a buyer walks into a car dealership and looks up the guy who sold him his last 2 cars, and sold cars to 2 of his close friends. Car salesman then charges more than car is worth. -
PowerCon... Interesting idea... I'll look in the morning.
-
yup, looks good. I usually include 20% for transformer headroom, as not to draw more than 80% of rated current from the transformer, but you're good in this case.

no bad at all, considering I had so much cable to work with (four conductors in each side). On another cable related issue, I have a Neutrik cable that I've made a mistake and am trying to use too thick of a cable. The bottom part barely fits and then I can hook up the section that takes the wire and then place the third part over this section and screw it onto the first... problem is, I cannot get the strain relief section that usually goes on second to fit. As a result it's not working so well..... any way to rig this up somehow, or is this not even coherent...

I think a lot of people involved with this know exactly where to kick I'm not, so I'll shut up.... I've given my $0.02 above anyways. -

heh, plus it was a leading question that no one fell into... I can see paying more to recoup R&D costs.... but hitting up Kevin for what electrostatic amp should I put into production and then using something off a Stax manual doesn't qualify as R&D in my book. Pars: My real beef is that people pay for it in part because they trust Mikhail (RSA, etc.), *not* because the market will bear it. Granted, he rightly earned people's respect with his first amps, as they sound good and are reasonably priced (yes, I own one)... but I think this trust was taken advantage of. I don't have the words right now to flesh this line of thought out, but this is what I think the real problem is/was/will be. If I'm in the minority, so be it... I'm happy here. -
well.. I have a stock cable that I converted to balanced... anyways, a fine looking cable... however, I do have to say that the lower end Furutech stuff is crap in my opinion (XLR chassis connectors, IEC inlet, 0.25" TRS plug, etc.).
