  1. I'd just offer an hardwired version... seems reasonable enough.
  2. sorry, been too busy working a BOM for this project: diyAudio Forums - How cheap can you get? ~$60 assembled pair w/ bamboo enclosures - offer advice. - Page 1
  3. yeah, I'm interested in hearing it compared to the baby Stax. Now I need to just find me a decent source... the portable forum at HF is kinda a scary place for me to visit, I'm probably going to have nightmares tonite...
  4. sweet. It is an amazing sounding transport there's one cap that is crazy how much difference it makes.
  5. nah, I live a pretty sedentary lifestyle. If it sounds good on a plane, I'm more than happy.
  6. ah hell.... TTVJ Millet Hybrid Portable
  7. pure evil. just google (ok, ok, use live.com it's way better and search for "microsoft live discount"
  8. STAX SR-001MK2 Electrostatic Headphones Price: $279.99 + $14.99 (EMS shipping) - $84.00 (30% Live Discount) = $210.98
  9. anyone have a spare brown dog? I just realized that I soldered a single opamp on to a 2-singles-makes-one-dual adapter tonite... that's not going to work so well, huh.. I just need one for a single AD8610, SOIC to DIP8.
  10. wow, more cool stuff in Houston it seems
  11. hmmmmmmmmmmm........... perhaps I'm an idiot... (goes to check)
  12. where are the seams pointing when you listen? The problem for me is that the position I listen in causes the cable to look all mangled over time... I'm sure this is the cause of the problem.
  13. the cover isn't shipped with the replacement cable, so the MK1 cover was used.
  14. cordless with a NAG recable would be sweet.
  15. yeah, look at the MK2 and MK1 pics and you'll see where the screws are on the MK2 that aren't on the MK1. I'm not sure about the ports, frankly I didn't notice them. I'd have to ask the owner about it, or perhaps Spritzer can comment if they'd be there (are the ports in the cable, or in the frame)?
  16. yes, I've repaired a MK1 with a MK2 cable. It works fine, just no screws.
  17. well, if there is a known fix for a known issue with current production parts, I wouldn't really say there are reliability concerns ...
  18. the main issue is definitely the cable entry, assuming you listen with the cups rotated in an optimal position.
  19. a good amount of information, actually. I'll agree with aerius on the "bonus black key" pianos.
  20. heh.. the pics have top caps though that narrows it down, right?
  21. cool, just talked with Avel and they are sending a small roll out. Also, they recommended orienting where the primaries and secondaries exit away from the sensitive circuity, as there is a gap there that can leak. Thanks for the suggestion!
  22. do you think I could take a square of it and just stick it to the toroid mounting dish?
  23. yeah, so this definitely doesn't have enough gain for a 0.24mV cartridge. Whatever Postjack's Bugle is set to would be as low as I would go. I was listening to this with my PPAv2 turned all the way up and the volume was moderate. Unfortunately, I feel like the verdict is still out on whether or not the toroids will cause trouble. I couldn't hear anything last night, but just didn't have enough gain the chain to know 100%. Also, it's really not that bad of a build. Since the boards are mounted to the top and bottom panel and they just slide out, and you can simply remove either one of the side panels and get access to either side...
  24. cannot post pics I get: "Your submission could not be processed because a security token was missing. If this occurred unexpectedly, please inform the administrator and describe the action you performed before you received this error." So, they are here: Picasa Web Albums - M - Pearl edit: notice the stray shielding... haven't figured out what to do with it yet Probably tie it to the earth post and connect that to chassis with a thermistor, Papa-style..
