  1. I got some sake as well to experiment with a cocktail. Anathema I know. Any suggestions?
  2. Ok, first drink without a clever name. It's basically a Hemingway Daiquiri. 1.75 oz Wrey & Nephew overproof rum .75 oz fresh lime juice .25 oz maraschino liqueur .25 oz grapefruit juice .25 oz Campari 1 sugar cube In an old fashioned glass, muddle the cube with the lime juice. Then transfer to a shaker. Some sugar will remain. Add ingredients, except for Campari. Shake! Float Campari in drink served with crushed ice. I think this one is nice. The W&N is subdued here, but has it's original character. The Campari really adds something. Maybe remove the grapefruit juice?
  3. Peter, amazing! Probably a lot less creepy to have that camera out in nature compared to inches away from drunks desperately trying to find quorums
  4. Found one! Microchip of all people makes a nice one. .2V drop out, that's insane..
  5. Ah, thats a good possibility. Maybe a magic series resistor as well for good measure. Ah, physicists today.. Don't they have better things to be doing?
  6. So, these are more of a subjective, "yeah, sounds better leave it in"? Seems like a lot of guessing to me, hope you have really good ears.
  7. quick question. Do you have measurement equipment to determine if removing stuff off the board causes problems?
  8. If you send two to Shelly, I can pick it up a week from tomorrow in person and even possibly the next week if that is too soon. So, me too!
  9. Nice! Any idea what they used?
  10. Good cocktails! So, what's Al up to? There is one Don Julio that is really great, it's the 1942 Anjeo. Very nice! I'll be in Houston soon, need to stock up
  11. So, I need an opinion on this one. perhaps it exists, but I dunno.. No Name 1 oz tequila 1 oz campari 1 oz Dolin dry Opened a new bottle of Dolin Dry (my third split). I think this really works...
  12. Red Hook Cocktail
  13. Cool! The Bitter Mai Tai was a hit last night, big fan!
  14. Bitter Mai Tai (Dram, NY) 3/2 oz Campari 3/4 oz Smith & Cross 1/2 oz Clement Creole Shrubb 1 oz lime juice 3/4 oz orgeat
  15. Nice trip report! My next trip is going to be right in your backyard from 8/7 - 8/17 Very excited. The family will be there part of the time and we want to head out of town the last couple days and see the surrounding area, so at some point I'd love to hit you up for some ideas. The front runners are the Jelly Belly factory and some castle, or so I've been told I'm just happy to get a few days alone in cocktail heaven
  16. Continuing the above theme... At a bit higher proof... Fightin' Words (Bar Congress, Austin TX) 1 oz corn 3/4 oz yellow chartreuse 3/4 oz lemon juice 1/2 oz maraschino liqueur
  17. thread hijack. What about a cheap USB to balanced DAC that's reasonably small? Say, under $300? I need something not really DIY, but a small finished product that sounds decent. Sorta like that Matrix mini-i thing that would fit the bill I guess. Others? oops, missed Dusty's reply. I'm not sure how to explain it, but you'll see a ringing on the top of the square waves that's a result of Gibbs. I'll think about a better explanation on the drive home.
  18. Maybe Kevin should investigate using a Music Rail in the PSU: http://www.bybeelabs.com/
  19. So, I have an idea for a new thread. Basically, I'm going to be playing bartender for an upcoming bachelor party. What I want to do is to make up a small drink menu, where the names of the drinks are somehow related to my buddy. He's a English PhD with research on Lovecraft, who is converting to Catholicism and enjoys fencing and Japanese culture. So, we'd either throw out drinks that would fit the genre (i.e. Lucien Gaudin Cocktail) or a name of a cocktail that doesn't exist, and people would work up a recipe that matched the name, which is either an original cocktail or somehow modified. Okay! So, the first name would be 'French Letter' and then someone would post a cocktail. Or, someone could take the Lovecraft suggestion and suggest a title to a drink, etc.
  20. probably around $100K for the dual parts would be my guess, from speaking with them.
  21. First Word (Clock Bar) Equal parts gin, maraschino liqueur, yellow chartreuse and lemon juice.
  22. The thing with equal parts is you really need a reposado tequila, blanco doesn't quite work here. on the Shrub ... The other thing is choosing limes. I get the least firm ones I can find. Then I roll them around on the counter with the palm of my hand for 10 seconds before I cut them. This is the proper ritual, please heed.
  23. This post is fail. This is like saying facial tissue blows, try Kleenex. Oh, try Tampax next time. I do equal parts, no sugar.
