  1. In my opinion, its better than Campari. It's very versatile as well, it easily substitutes for Campari, Italian vermouth and even something like Peychaud's... Not a direct substitute obviously, but it always results in an interesting variation. Highly recommended.
  2. Not Theory (proposed) 3/4 oz Reposado Tequila 3/4 oz Gran Classico Bitter 3/4 oz Cocchi Torino 1/4 oz simple syrup Stir and garnish with a grapefruit peel. Sorta a play on words that this is an odd mix of ingredients at first sight. I realize that this is similar to other drinks, but this particular combo of particular ingredients is very nice.
  3. Justin, this is probably obvious to everyone else but me, but what sort of things can this it do and what are you planning to do specifically?
  4. Yup. I has a Darjeeling note that I'm really loving.
  5. Old Fashioned Use old-fashioned cocktail glass. Sugar, 1 lump. Seltzer, 1 dash, and crush sugar with muddler. Ice, one square piece. Orange bitters, 1 dash. Angostura bitters, 1 dash. Lemon peel, 1 piece. Whiskey, 1 jigger. Stir gently and serve with spoon. This is easily the best bourbon i have ever had, which includes Pappy and Antique Collection. Haven't had Parkers. Any opinions on this matter?
  6. Vistalba 2006 Corte B
  7. Nah, not really. Given the options and condition and accessories I probably paid a bit above market value. I'd never go back though, it's a really nice setup.
  8. The issue with that package is the three heat slugs under the chip. Depending on your thermal requirements, a custom breakout PCB is really needed. You can find surplus heat sinks with pre-tapped holes, check out EBay. Nothing new-stock though. You could look into some of the clip designs though, or using a single bar to apply pressure to a number of devices at once... Plenty of ways to get creative here.
  9. I did some similar tests and found that CA was better with the higher strength ryes. But I like Torino better in the average case. Me? a really really big Negroni: 2.25 oz gin 2.25 oz Carpano Antica 2.25 oz Campari
  10. Yup, that's what I've been told.. I can get the Seco here, nice stuff, but had a bad experience with the Marie Brizard Anisette, very very sweet stuff and am looking for something else.
  11. Mikey, what about the Springer 12 cask series, such as the Claret and the other 5 or so. Any experience with those?
  12. I might be be able to help, but it will have to be next week at the earliest. Too bad you guys cannot distribute some chinchon dulce anis to me
  13. Hfe is a real lousy test. Even lousier if you are testing MOSFETs.
  14. Well, no good updates. They did a craniotomy (?) and now have a bit more room to work with and an easy access titanium plate. My dad was on plavix and some sort of membrane formed on the brain that the surgeon is not wanting to strip, two minor complications I suppose. Waiting until tomorrow for another scan to assess progress. Thanks for the good wishes all. I am hoping everyone around here will sleep tonite
  15. Well, they are going to have to go in the morning a second time, he's still bleeding. Torpedo, I'd guess the injury was like 5 weeks ago. His blood pressure was unstable and they rushed him to another scan but didn't see that anything changed. More waiting.
  16. Vya, Dolin, Punt e Mes, Cocchi Torino and Carpano Antica are all suitable. I like the Torino.
  17. Well, so far so good. Yea, it was a subdermal hematoma. The surgeon said in was a couple inches (?) and once they tapped it it shot out like 6'. The surgeon said that he had not seen that much pressure ever and that it's a good sign that the brain will quickly expand back into the space. I guess we will know more in the morning. It's been about 3 weeks after the fall. Good thing he didn't have to get this done in the DPRK though
  18. My dad just went to the OR for a blood clot in his brain which seemed to result from a fall he had recently while in North Korea. The wait begins, but I'm very hopeful that it is indeed a routine procedure...
  19. It won't be long now until your pouring cocktails!
  20. It's a strong vermouth, like Carpano. I think in fact it's better though.
  21. Campari-Cocchi Torino-Gale Force Negroni Man, this is good.
  22. 3:2:2 Campari, gin, Cocchi Americano
  23. Hitachi doesn't make these devices anymore, I would doubt that they would care at all.
  24. It's very different than any Calvados I've had. It's very good, but it's its own beast. Very complex, has an apple nose but the finish is a date flavor with a mild burn. Maybe I'd describe it as the Lagavulin of calvados.
  25. GR apple brandy
