  1. anyone have a extra JH cable they wouldn't mind parting with? standard cable to mini would be perfect... thanks!
  2. download speed with a wired mouse: download speed with a bluetooth magic mouse i repeated this a few times to confirm.... wtf. need more drinks.
  3. If I came into Union station, could I easily meet up with the gang at the show? I'm tempted to try the train from Ann Arbor and time this with a trip out there....

  5. There is a non zero chance I can make it this time
  6. A new retina book arrived today on my doorstep! I guess I cannot complain anymore about sloppy seconds from HP
  7. Oh. I agree then it's backwards. Nice catch.
  8. Licensing and patents No licenses or payments are required to be able to stream or distribute content in AAC format.[36] This reason alone makes AAC a much more attractive format to distribute content than MP3, particularly for streaming content (such as Internet radio).[citation needed] However, a patent license is required for all manufacturers or developers of AAC codecs.[37] For this reason free and open source softwareimplementations such as FFmpeg and FAAC may be distributed in source form only, in order to avoid patent infringement. (See below under Products that support AAC, Software.) key: source form only
  9. Please order 1 Picon Club cool stuff Graham.
  10. My wife hates the backwards scrolling, if you find a fix LMK..
  11. I'd agree Lockhart is the BBQ capital of Texas. Its not my favorite though, this is: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snow's_BBQ
  12. Hi guys. Would anyone be willing to alert me of a certain watch if you see it used, or perhaps a good price? I'm interested in the Sinn 756 S or Sinn 856 S or any similar looking recommendations. Key points are: relatively small (<= 40mm say) blacked out thin bezel, non rotating, no numbers (whatever that's called) I think
  13. For what it's worth that happened to me almost exactly and the insurance adjusters did not agree that it was not my fault. I still feel like it was unfair... in my case there wasn't anyone beside or behind me tho and I didn't notice him backing up until I was hit.... Good luck!
  14. Lol. The chef's razor wit?
  15. it doesn't help this problem. Just going to be more heat in the PSU than usual, or he will need to run it at higher rails (which would cause more heat to be in the amp, unless adjusted), etc.
  16. How much clearance is in the bottom chamber, i.e. height?
  17. you might want to design your own PCBs for that build. good luck!
  18. I agree. But most subs fall into two categories, sealed and ported. I tend to think that these other designs might prove to be less problematic. Just an intuition though but one I'd like to confirm.
  19. For whatever reason, I'm intrigued about this problem Deepak. Budget? Do you want stereo subs? Is a separate amp (not a plate amp) okay? For HT, I'd definitely recommend these TH. For ESLs, I'm not sure I would, due to delay issues. In fact, this is one of the main reasons I'm not sure how they will integrate with my horns. I'd assume that whatever would work for my horns would work for the ESLs. The reason I ask about group delay, phase, etc. is that the reason that many people go with ESLs is to avoid these issues that they believe to be paramount. Adding a sub and maintaining these goals is difficult.
  20. So, I will return a question with a question. How audible do you believe time delay is (for subwoofer integration)? Here's one discussion: http://sound.westhost.com/pcmm.htm oh and also, this design is not really a OB, but a tapped horn design. And, because I'm curious, what OB was recommended? perhaps a H-frame?
  21. heh. I thought one thing and asked another. Really. My real question is, did you try elevating the PRP resistors before putting the Xicons in (which you clearly did)... yeah, that's the ticket.
  22. Did you end up replacing the PRP resistors in the batteries, or elevating them? I cannot tell from the picture
  23. Ari and Justin: Please read and comment on this thread. http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=212953
  24. agreed. Also, the F1 and F1J have a high output impedance (and F2 and F2J).... so, it doesn't make sense to make an exception for them Tyll. My point is that It's the other ones that have low output impedance, aren't gm amps and sound awesome in the context above. Also, here are some quotes to consider from the F1 owner's manual: This is a very unusual amplifier that will not sound good with about 98% of the loudspeakers on the market. It requires careful attention to loudspeaker loading to get the best performance. The accompanying white paper “Current Source Amplifiers and Full-Range High-Efficiency Drivers” is required reading. This is a tinkerer’s amplifier, and experimental tool. If you just want to be a consumer, then buy something else, otherwise be prepared to patiently experiment with your system to get the best performance. It does not often work well with ordinary passive crossover networks – the components and their locations tend to be reversed. It won’t break, but probably won’t sound good
