  1. This is pretty wild... HS
  2. The exchanges in that thread have been painful to weed through, I'm afraid. Makes for more reason to pour another finger of rum... I'm at a crossroads. Love my ygg>KGST>007A's. Been a great enjoyable pairing. Only use it and my ygg>Woo WA7>TH900 depending on my mood and how much ambient noise there is. I've concluded I need a back-up e-stat setup for a few reasons I won't bore with. I will likely secure a Carbon in time as the second amp. The question then is the next set of Stax earspeakers. I'm thinking L700's vs the 009's. I don't do bright very well...getting old I guess, but regardless fatigue while listening is the last thing I want to pay money for. Is the L700 worth purchasing as a second set of Staxen? I tend to prefer a warmer signature and hence hung on to my HD650's as my dynamic backup cans. Your two bits appreciated before I piss more money away... Cheers, HS
  3. RIP, David. You marked my youth and provided food for thought. HS
  4. He's not interested. Douche alert.... HS
  5. Thank you, Kevin. I don't get the battery powered approach they took, but hey...what do I know. Will be following the latest here with interest. Cheers, HS
  6. Interesting development. I was looking into the Bakoon headphone amp several months ago out of curiosity and again this week to power Fostex TH900's which are easy to drive (i.e. overkill) and HD650's, both currently powered by a Woo WA7. The difference though, if I've read the prior posts correctly, is that I was not looking into the Korean version that's battery powered. The Japanese HDA-5210 MK3 SATRI-IC-EX is the one I found much more interesting and would be more practical for my needs. Are you putting the Japanese 5210 Bakoon in the same boat with the Korean HPA-21 Bakoon? Thanks. HS
  7. Trapper....wow. Huge swath of my childhood right there. RIP, Sir. You shall be celebrated at cocktail hour today. HS
  8. Shipping of a new pair of Stax 007A's in the original packaging, including the aluminum carrying case and I also paid for extra protection (a second cardboard box to surround the Stax cardboard box), amounted to US$55 from Japan to Texas. Zero duties. Best of luck on your purchase. If you avoid the channel imbalance bug that has affected a few of us, you'll be happy as a clam. HS
  9. I have ordered two pair of headphones from a similar outfit, fromjapan, using EMS to the U.S.A. and my experience was the same as chiguy's. Fast delivery with no customs duties (one pair were the 007A's). Also, the packages showed up in much better shape coming all the way from Japan than headphones ordered within the U.S.A. showed up using UPS or USPS. My recommendatin is use EMS, but I'm no expert on Europe. Only lived there a few months. HS
  10. For those that partake.... HS
  11. That sould be fun to see. F1 vs all out drag racer. Not something you see every day... Let us know where you run in the U.S., Leve. Cheers, HS
  12. Very cool gig you have! HS
  13. Looks like they are available this week. http://www.moon-audio.com/enigmacoustics-dharma-d1000-hybrid-electrostatic-stereo-headphones.html?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_content=LCD-XC bocote&utm_campaign=11%2F10%2F15 HS
  14. A fine point. For me it's about a time slip...performance vs my personal best. Whether it be striaght line or road racing, can I do better than before given the conditions at hand. No more and no less. Dyno numbers are funny things in the wild. They can be a useful measure for tuning, etc... and/or a data point along with several others. Too many toss them arouns like a giant ball sack. HS
  15. ^^^LMAO. All I could think was small pee pee syndrome when I saw that plate. HS
  16. Super nice shot on the Mustang...thanks for sharing. We've got a house full of boxes due to an overdue painting of the interior and there won't be any C&C for me. Living vicariously via VA... Cheers HS
  17. RIP Mr. George Barris. 89....one hell of a run. Brought us several wild ass designs. Some better than others, but never lacking in creativity and the ability to promote... https://news.classiccars.com/george-barris-famed-kustom-car-king-creator-iconic-batmobile-dies-89/ HS
  18. It may just be me, but the front end on this Nissan looks bad ass. The car is all business. The shot is from SEMA. HS
  19. VPI - that catback looks great! I dig what you've done with the XT....looks just mean enough for a quick grocery getter. A fast SUV with big brakes, good handling (adjustable suspension settings), proper trans and motor is hard to beat for a daily if you have a family. Sufficiently raised to deal even with Houston streets. Big bonus. Then a proper car in the garage for vroom vroom. Picked this up to teach my 16 yr old how to drive a stick car properly... HS
  20. LOL...I guess I do. It's been fun. I went from my daily driver being a 2010 Dodge RAM crew cab to the Jeep and the technology is pretty wild relatively speaking. Been a lot of fun. The 8-speed with paddles mated to the 6.4L is good fun on the highway. The launch control...well, that's just good sport but completely unnecessary. 4.4 0-60mph in a pig on all season radials is pure comedy. HS
  21. Great looking steering wheel! The one on my Jeep SRT is similar and I've grown quite fond of it. HS
  22. whoops... HS
  23. I had momentary joy firmly popping the earcup in question but then it went back to the inbalance within a moment. Suggest you get a quote on the repair after you've looked at the wiring as spritzer suggested. If the cost is stupid, purchase another pair and sell what you have as is transparently and recover what you can. Price of admission on this stuff can leave a mark but it sure is good when it all comes together... HS
  24. ^^^LMAO. I think buyers will get over it pretty quick when it comes to the high end brands, certainly here in Houston where they sell like hotcakes. HS
  25. Are yours out of warranty and where were they purchased? I had a new pair shipped directly from Japan via EMS present an imbalance problem earlier this year. Had to return them to where I purched them from (fromjapan) and force an exchange. Since they're an intermediary it was a bit of PITA (the true seller looks to have been a bit challenging), but in the end I leaned on them via my credit card company and received a new pair that has presented no such problem.
