A fine point. For me it's about a time slip...performance vs my personal best. Whether it be striaght line or road racing, can I do better than before given the conditions at hand. No more and no less. Dyno numbers are funny things in the wild. They can be a useful measure for tuning, etc... and/or a data point along with several others. Too many toss them arouns like a giant ball sack. HS

Super nice shot on the Mustang...thanks for sharing. We've got a house full of boxes due to an overdue painting of the interior and there won't be any C&C for me. Living vicariously via VA... Cheers HS

RIP Mr. George Barris. 89....one hell of a run. Brought us several wild ass designs. Some better than others, but never lacking in creativity and the ability to promote... https://news.classiccars.com/george-barris-famed-kustom-car-king-creator-iconic-batmobile-dies-89/ HS

It may just be me, but the front end on this Nissan looks bad ass. The car is all business. The shot is from SEMA. HS

VPI - that catback looks great! I dig what you've done with the XT....looks just mean enough for a quick grocery getter. A fast SUV with big brakes, good handling (adjustable suspension settings), proper trans and motor is hard to beat for a daily if you have a family. Sufficiently raised to deal even with Houston streets. Big bonus. Then a proper car in the garage for vroom vroom. Picked this up to teach my 16 yr old how to drive a stick car properly... HS

LOL...I guess I do. It's been fun. I went from my daily driver being a 2010 Dodge RAM crew cab to the Jeep and the technology is pretty wild relatively speaking. Been a lot of fun. The 8-speed with paddles mated to the 6.4L is good fun on the highway. The launch control...well, that's just good sport but completely unnecessary. 4.4 0-60mph in a pig on all season radials is pure comedy. HS

Great looking steering wheel! The one on my Jeep SRT is similar and I've grown quite fond of it. HS

I had momentary joy firmly popping the earcup in question but then it went back to the inbalance within a moment. Suggest you get a quote on the repair after you've looked at the wiring as spritzer suggested. If the cost is stupid, purchase another pair and sell what you have as is transparently and recover what you can. Price of admission on this stuff can leave a mark but it sure is good when it all comes together... HS

^^^LMAO. I think buyers will get over it pretty quick when it comes to the high end brands, certainly here in Houston where they sell like hotcakes. HS

Are yours out of warranty and where were they purchased? I had a new pair shipped directly from Japan via EMS present an imbalance problem earlier this year. Had to return them to where I purched them from (fromjapan) and force an exchange. Since they're an intermediary it was a bit of PITA (the true seller looks to have been a bit challenging), but in the end I leaned on them via my credit card company and received a new pair that has presented no such problem. That Z car is a stunner. Loved them for a long time. Learned how to drive a stick in my brother's '72 240Z 4-speed and then bought and drove a '78 280Z 5-speed in college. Sold it sadly with 140K miles, 81K of them mine. Fortunately, I just purchased a '78 280Z 4-speed to teach my 16-yr old how to drive a stick. It should arrive in the next day or so. I'm stoked. Attended the Texas Mile this weekend. My favorite event ever...the standing mile. Weather was bad but we got a few really cool things out of it. First time the standing mile has been run at night that I'm aware of and the cars running Sunday got a tremendous tailwind once the rain blew through and the track was dried. There was a 280ZX with a Chevy small block (I believe) running about 170mph. Pretty cool. HS

That 240Z is slick and I'm particularly curious about the Dodge Challenger. Looks like a road race car. Great pics as usual...thank you for sharing! HS Nice work! I don't know what you're running. My experience is a good drag radial with an automatic car is best. I did better with slicks when it's stick shift...more forgiving if you break the tire (i.e. wheel spin). A slick will engage the track again whereas the DR's will have a lot more difficulty recovering. A slick does lend itself to a bit more wheel hop, though, on my car so the half shafts (axles) should be up to the task. Best of luck. HS

Thanks, VPI. It started life as a stick car weighing just short of 4100lbs w/o driver. They're basically 4-door parts cars by Chrysler where the frame was chopped 4" to produce the Challenger. She's a big girl and it makes for some unusual things like the longest input shaft on the trans and a shift mechanism set back far creating weaknesses I've found the limits of over the last 6 years. It's gone through a lot of iterations...a 10-pt cage and a bunch of other crap...some of it dropped a few pounds but mostly I've added through add'l fluids, proper big brakes, all the TT bits, big ass 4L80E trans and a Ford 9" rear to handle the power, etc... Here is the car the first time it ran 9's in the quarter. It was near you at VMP (I've never seen quarter mile track prep at a private event like that other than the few times I ran her in Virginia). I ditched the manual sadly as I was twisting RPM built Tremecs from input shaft to output shaft. We learned a lot that day...I had to lift to get the auto to shift relying on the OEM rpm signal. Plumbing is under the car. It was 3" custom piping which made for a very tight fit given the block is pretty good size (406 CI). Currently working on installing a nifty integrated kit that will have the oiling for the TT's and a good bit of the piping integrated into the K-member. You can see a bit of it here along with the mid-plate that's going in. HS

Car weighs ~4500lbs. Moderate boost pass (11-12psi). Royal Purple Raceway during 1/4 mile test and tune trying to iron a few things out before the standing mile event the car is built for. Street legal....sat/nav and AC still in the big girl. Don't have the heart to gut her to run an 8 sec pass. HS

If the conclusions from the experiment were to ring true for the majority of potential buyers, Gungnir $850 vs Ygg $2300. Major saving that could be used towards other pursuits like my neverending appetite for proper rum... HS

This is going to be very interesting for me to read about, TMoney. Especially the USB angle as supposedly the onboard USB in the ygg is supposedly the cat's arse. Good stuff. HS

Great photos. Thanks for sharing. The restomod Camaro looks great. There are so many here, both restored and restomod, I quit turning my head. I enjoy seeing something a bit more unusual....like a restomod wagon. Love the idea of going to the strip and banging out a 9 sec pass in a sleeper wagon.... HS
