    Modifying in stagest/increments has the added benefit of seeing what each element does for you, especially if you keep track notes. A proper sway bar can make a nice difference. Proper rubber...invaluable and you won't unnecessarily tear up your street tires. If you can return the shocks w/o a material hit, then mod in stages as you've suggested and see if you're happy. If you are, return them. If not, slap those puppies in there. What I don't know is what quality of shocks & springs / coilovers you have now. It made a huge difference for my car, but I made a pretty signicant change also. My damn car looked like a chuck wagon before I installed a proper suspension a few months after purchase. HS

    Blown motor out. New motor ready to go in. 7-8 quarts of oil to clean....that's a lot when it aerates. Went all the way to the rear and on top of the chute as an example...impressive. Decided to add a midplate for stability Test fitting HS

    Agreed. I generally spray on a blue HD towlette for the delicate stuff, but I doubt you need much help from this wrench HS

    LOL...yeah, pretty much. Here is the bastage that caused all the drama. I was able to save the heads with a bit of work. Here is a shot of the heads being repaired. Only one hole was an issue, but there were o-ring grooves in them previously for a certain copper gasket I've given up on so I had them filled and decked. Definitely changed from the POC Manley to a Rev race valve. Cleaning up the hole from hell...you can see some of the damage still Buttoned back up with the new hardware New Diamond 2618 allow pistons 300M rods... Higher capacity oil pan... Billet main caps Assembled short block with a forged Scat crank and a custom cam made for boost...lift is relatively tame HS

    OK, swt61 and fellow Texan. I'll post a few pics and let me know if you have any questions or I'm boring the hell out of anyone So this is what I did to the last motor....I don't recommend doing this at over 200mph. A Manley race valve failed and took out a really nice 2618 allow piston, set the 300M rod loose as well as the tool steel wrist pin and that rod ate the iron sleeve in then the aluminum block. Oil went past the engine diaper....it was a bear to stop. My car is a pig....weighs 4550lbs roughly with me in it. most of what was sitting in my engine diaper and my steel belly pan Damn shame...it was a really nice motor. This is the inside of my passenger side front wheel hub. It'll give an idea of how much oil made its way on the wheels and brakes. I found it interesting that due to the dynamics of airflow, although I holed the motor on the driver's side, most the oil ended up on the passenger side wheel which made for some very uneven braking....spooky. Pulled hard. This is the StopTech brake rotor that saved my bacon... Whoops. She laid down right before the mile marker...I like running the standing mile a couple of times a year. Here's the slip they were kind enough to secure for me after I oiled the big end of the track... So I decided to give it another shot. I'm not too bright...LOL HS

    My SR-003Mk2's showed up today. I'd listened to a pair a friend here loaned me and decided to buy a pair. Trippy little things. Sounds surprisingly good for what they are. Anyone find a better set of ear tips so they can be used for more than 20 minutes at a time? HS

    I've been a buyer of the Escort brand for decades (started as cincinnati microwave). I like using their wireless stuff but unfortunately the quality of these units started having problems several years back. To their credit, they replaced my unit with a new one...that did the same thing. On occasion it shuts off w/o letting you know and I have to unplug one of the batteries and reinstall it and it starts up w/o issue. Weird. Hopefully they fixed that. They were bought out years back and that's when the quality went sideways in my estimation. Their technology is solid and customer service very good. My guess is they are as good or better than any other out there. HS

    That may be what they're asking, but they're smoking dope. Offer 50 cents on the dollar and when they don't get better offers they come back around. You have little to lose unless you're really wanting new. Nothing wrong with that but you're just going to beat on them.     Mine sounds pretty damn righteous for the money using the S/PDIF input. Only complaint is that one of the two RCA outputs I'm using is loose...looks like the screw through the plastic mount inside the case was stripped during install. Solder holding it in place I figure... HS

    You guys are cracking me up...needed a chuckle. Dread - I would take a hard look at someone's throw-aways for race wheels. I'm assuming you've found a good Ford based forum. There or somewhere like Racingjunk you'll be able to find a nice set of wheels that some poor schmuck is taking a bath on trying to unload. If you're lucky, they'll have rubbers that suit you for a dime on the dollar... I respect some folks are OCD, but you're going to beat on them anyhoo... My two bits. HS

    I think you did great, Dreadhead. Really. I hope your tires last as long as you hope. Racing is hard on them... If they don't, there are other good options that I expect will improve upon the OEM rubbers and still meet class specs. Best of luck. HS

    I really like the pads on the current 007A's...very nice. Would be nice if they rotated laterally, but they're still very comfortable and plush. HS

    Some cool rides. I notice the Lotusssss have Hoosier road race "slicks" (they actually have a few grooves)....mostly likely the R7's. Great tires if you choose to get serious. HS

    Congratulations! That's a great start for a new ride. Most beginners overdrive a car. Key is momentum, keeping the shifts at a minimum (especially if you're a stick car), don't over brake or over pedal....momentum. Sounds a lot easier than it is. Be ready for a lot of tire purchases HS

    Very nice, 101! Great looking ride. Just got back from an event where I got to test out my new setup. The first day was a bit painful....some teething pains and it hailed after only two passes. We worked through those and I managed some clean passes the second track day which was cool and sunny. This pass we pushed the boost ramp and found the track's limits. It was a colorful pass for a couple of reasons... I've got some adjustments to make like rear gear and tune tweaks, but it's close to being in a good place. HS

    I just returned from the Texas Mile. Unfortunately, I was not running this time as I wanted to test my car at the 1/4 mile before going WOT for a mile with the new build. DAMN...I've never seen more accommodating weather conditions. Friday was 20mph steady tailwind with gusts to 30mph. It doesn't get better than that...EVER. Shit. Anyhoo, saw some amazing things. A Ford GT in Gulf Oil livery beat his record and went 279.8mph...crazy. A nissan GTR went 255mph. Super neat car...had tire heaters. The driver was a big boy too...didn't stop him. Saw a guy go 255mph in a dayglow pink bike...can't make that up. Some amazing runs and incredible machines. Great people too. Sat and Sun weather was stunning. Damn I love that event. HS

    "vintage" is sexy these days, but the bottom line is it generally means old and the wear and tear that goes with it. Same with cars....an old car is cool but you better be prepared for a lot of drips on the driveway... The dictionary should have "fixer upper" in the definition for vintage... HS
