  1. Spooky...I have been focused on these. Started with blue in mind but thoughts have been all over the board, Hop. I have to say the classic style, simplicity and size are intoxicating. .. Thank you. HS
  2. OK... I may regret this but I'm looking for a watch for self. The quality watches I've purchased for many a year have been for a special anniversary for well deserving wifey. She is not a jewelry person, but she appreciates a nice watch. At the moment I am bent on a nice sports watch...whatever that means. Stainless case and band is where my head is. Preferably 40mm or frankly a tick or more below that. I want new. Love the idea of vintage but I've had my share of it of late in home, cars and stereo equipment and I simply desire a piece I don't have to worry about for a good while. I've been a bit focused on Rolex. Some sexy stuff. Would love the new Daytona in stainless but it feels excessive given the supply / demand equation. I have been an Omega fan for a long time and the last watch I purchased a couple of decades ago was a Seamaster. Lost to South America but that's another story... Thoughts and pics most welcome. HS
  3. It may be that the way I use mine, which is quite simple, suits the Ygg. I pipe in music via the Toslink (optical) and I have the output permanently hooked up to two amplifiers (one of my electrostatic amps...the beautiful carbon George built for me...feeds the lovely KGST Geoff built me). I don't change that setup to speak of. Zero drama. HS
  4. The only issue I've had with mine since I bought it (and it was this way when it arrived years ago...purchased shortly after they began selling them) is that one of the analog connectors came loose (screw stripped the cheap plastic inside the case where the connector is mounted) so I have to be gentle if I need to connect/disconnect that one connection to one of my amp's. Zero issues otherwise. Sounds pretty darn good to me and clearly a step up from what I had previously. I have never utilized the USB input and do not plan to. I do not doubt there are other very good DAC options out there that are competitive. I see little value in upgrading from the Ygg though. HS
  5. Some serious talent electing to leave us for a better place or something.... RIP, Anthony and Kate. Mr. Matt....jam on sir. This place will be less interesting without all of you. HS
  6. Beautiful work, and one heck of an eye spotting the quality of the wood given the weathered state! HS
  7. RIP Mssrs Bain and Wilson. Vaya con Dios Sra. Pradera... RIP Mr. Clark. HS
  8. I was clearly too sober when I read the google translation yesterday... HS
  9. Looks like a good day to me, ER. Cheers! Took the day off myself. Sipping some nice Guatemalan....beats the office. Here is something I bought myself recently...nothing fancy (Swedish outfit) but I've worn it more than anything else of late. I very much like the dimensions as many of the oversized watches du jour do not work for me. Came with a black strap also that's quite elegant, but I'm stuck on the olive for now... HS
  10. Godspeed, Uncle Bob and John... HS
  11. That Porter Cable is a good recommendation. Beat mine for years with zero drama. HS
  12. Great, ain’t it?!? In all seriousness, my blue 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T weighs more due to the addition of safety and go-fast kit and is ~1.5 seconds faster in the quarter mile at this point. Low 10’s @ 13x mph vs 8.7 secs @ 161 mph in the quarter is a huge delta. The Demon sure is nicer to drive though HS
  13. Whoops.... HS
  14. Sexxxy..... HS
  15. RIP, Gryphon... My condolences, SG HS
  16. Fine for paint and oxidation removal, tho... HS
  17. This should be entertaining... HS
  18. RIP Frank, Cecil, Michael and Lee. HS
  19. Studs stretch some or they break. Metallurgy... Not for the faint of heart when combined with high pressure, heat, detonation... HS
  20. So I pushed my motor a bit more than I intended. Long story short I have a transmission controller and now that I converted the car to an automatic (could not get a manual to survive) I have been playing with locking the torque converter (fluid coupler). At the quarter mile, worked like a dream. Feels like a shift to another gear...powerful and great for my elapsed times and trap speed. Well, I tried the same at the standing mile last year and I had a different result than I planned. Basically, I use overdrive in the standing mile and when I finally got the transmission to take OD (4th gear for me) by getting out of it and bumping it to neutral and back, it made crazy power and pulled like I've never felt her go. That was the good part. The bad part is it excited the turbos more than planned and she made more boost at the manifold than I expected. Result...I raised the heads. So if you haven't seen this before, imagine all they dynamic cylinder compression created by the piston stroke with the benefit of turbo compression flaming out the side of the head/block area. Basically...a blow torch. Managed to get the car safely to a stop and aside from a bit of fire suppressant to ensure the smoking under the hood was not fire, not too hard on the motor/car. But I did do this to the heads and I wanted to share so you could 1) see what it looks like if you haven't before and 2) see some craftsmanship the gent that made these for me does on heads. Basically three steps thus far: my trashing them, welding and rough machining, and then cleaning them nicely. Note on the last step the chambers have been "softened"...there's an edge within the chamber if you will. That's for quenching and better handling the heat from boost and avoiding pre-detonation. vroom vroom... HS
  21. Great looking watch! HS
  22. I like the Tudor with the burgundy bezel. HS
