  1. I would appreciate any thoughts from the wood workers on how to as intelligently as possible "fix" this hot sticky mess that is my wood floor. In short, my beloved old pooch has a penchant for chewing on wood and, as odds would have it, wood floors... We thought she was over this in her later years but apparently not. The wifey then informed me that the spare boxes of slats were used to repair errors by the installers...and they left us with none. Extensive search for replacement slats and nothing... Called the seller, the manufacturer, yada yada....zero. We brought in some "experts" a friend recommended and they made it worse...pooch scratched it up and then they go to sanding it only to realize that the stain they used was absorbed far too easily to match the finish on the Brazilian hard wood. Other "experts" wouldn't touch it. Clearly there's some more complex stain and finish than they wanted to mess with or the size of the job so we were left with this.... The photos are a bit crap as the iPhone camera wanted to turn it grayish vs the reddish tones but these are indicative. I don't need perfection but I'd prefer not to FUBAR it completely. You can see where I've tried to correct a small section with not a ton of joy. Thanks in advance for any recommendations. HS
  2. Godspeed, Hanzo... HS
  3. Happy caffeinating! HS
  4. ER, All good. I took it in the spirit it was intended. Just frustrated in the moment and I felt the need to vent... Very cool on the Mickey watch...good stuff! HS
  5. So you say there's a chance... HS
  6. I've got other places to spend my money than that thing but to each his own... HS
  7. That's some serious coffee geek doohickie. HS
  8. Cool, ER. Good to see you enjoying your coffee processes. I’m too lazy for a hand grinder…LOL. HS
  9. Nice. I have not looked back since the Niche arrived what must have been a couple of years ago...have lost all track of time with this COVID mess. HS
  10. I am speechless with that cable, but then again the tiki drinks were quite good yesterday so there is that... And on the coffee front...going to hit Austin next week and looking forward to exploring more of the coffee scene there. Very much remember that crazy cherry bomb of a bean from Levercraft...will definitely have to pop my head in there for a cup. HS
  11. Well that doesn't make me feel any better, ER...LOL. I have read about the foundation previously although I am far from well informed about the company. Tudor is where they're pushing their overflow. That is the strategy as I understand it. Which is fine assuming it does not turn into the same...but that's just my feeling on the matter. It's a first world problem and I just needed a good bitch about it... HS
  12. Maybe an existential issue on my part but damn I'm struggling with the whole Rolex approach to managing production, inventories and resulting sales. So much has simply shifted to the gray market allowing profiteers to service Rolex's customers. Even several of the Tudor models feel like unobtanium... WTH?!? Rant over... HS
  13. I love this place... HS
  14. We can only hope… But sorry about the misread…too much credit. HS
  15. Dear lord you need to get out more often, starcat. And without the aluminum foil hat… As for the leap on the BMW, I am politely going to take my cue to STFU about cars in a coffee thread and exit like this….LMFAO. I sincerely don’t give a shit where cars are designed, assembled, labeled, etc…. Your idea of good seems to be a pissing match just for sport. I respect Aussie car culture. You ain’t it. HS
  16. OK...back on topic. Forgive me...haven't had my caffeine yet but I'm working on it.... Nothing like grawk's accoutrements but I do love me a lazy weekend morning....
  17. With all due respect that's a fallacy and not a great analogy in the least... I have a 2012 BMW M3 with 75K miles that redlines at 8300 rpm...a V8. It's not cheap to maintain but it also does not have fundamental issues and falls apart in important places. I race a Jeep Cherokee Trackhawk that weighs 5,617lbs. Boosted motor that I repeatedly beat in the heat at WOT for a mile at a time. Stop it...rinse and rotate. I run E85 that I can find at the pump. Boost is pushed to the max of the catalytic converts. It's shaped like a brick and I run 185mph in a standing mile and 10.3 sec's in a quarter mile...zero drama for a U.S. based, assembled in Canada and Mexico tub...no drama and I do most the work in my driveway. Performance w/o drama. I love Italian cars but...no, just no on that analogy. Sorry...nothing personal...just a topic that I spend a lot of time and energy and reading on. HS
  18. Yes...beautiful and very expensive to maintain. Forget about reliability....which, if you're buying one of those I fully expect is a secondary consideration. I need my caffeine though....LOL. HS
  19. Sexy. Hopefully built better and easier to maintain than Italian cars. Having said that, they can be a whole lot of fun... HS
  20. What grinder did you say you were using, ER? HS
  21. Very nice, ER. I use a several year old food scale from Amazon we also use to weigh our pooch’s meals. That scale looks very high tech relatively speaking. HS
  22. Godspeed, Dusty. Grateful I got to see you before you moved on... HS
  23. Definitely need a scale that goes up higher than that, ER, but glad it went your way. I use the bleached filters and soak them properly. Don't care for those "natural" ones so much. I use between 20-30g of coffee on a 15:1 ratio (depends on time of day), bloom, then at a point where I'm at a high on the fill I'll take a metal straw or the like and give the slurry a brisk but short mix. Love my Chemex. HS
