  1. I'm very curious to try the barrista oat milk this weekend. I have some espresso beans that should make life fairly easy on nailing the shots within a reasonable range so I can focus on the steaming. The Bianca has plenty of horsepower. One fail on my part is I purchased a pitcher to accommodate multiple drinks. I need to get off my arse and get a smaller one that will allow me more control / flexibility for the singles I almost always make. HS
  2. I scored some Oatly barrista oatmeal milk today. Am very curious to see how I like it. I feel like I'm fixing something that's not broken, but then again if I don't explore new things I'll never know... HS
  3. That is a bunch of BS, Augsburger. Sorry to see you're still dealing with this. Hopefully PayPal comes through for you. HS
  4. I'd call it sharing, Jacob. I'm down to one coffee left in the Onyx advent calendar. Bitter sweet ending... At the risk of bringing up K-cups, I have a bunch of Nespresso pods in a shopping cart as I work through the old inventory. BUT...I did find a compostable K-cup from San Francisco Bay Coffee. A friend at work generously gifted me a couple and they were pretty tasty as far as this stuff goes. HS
  5. I did a lot of reading about the Silvia and took a hard look at it, ER. I think it would be a solid choice based on what I have seen. A serious community out there using and improving up on it. Should be fun. HS
  6. Bought some espresso beans earlier this week. They are a week off roast. Made a great flat white I believe one would call it. Soooooo much easier to produce good coffee with a bean that caters to the machine. HS
  7. Augsburger, I would be equally upset in your shoes. That appears to be a high end grinder and you should fully expect a unit that functions day one, certainly within the provided settings. Really sorry you had that experience...I'd be pissed. Clive was good to me. I had one of the walnut knobs on the Bianca that wasn't right...they made it correct by getting another to me. A young lady was very helpful with this. Then there was a fitting that was supposed to be included so I could plumb it to my water source. The gent wasn't as outwardly friendly as the lady and less communicative via email throughout the process but low and behold the fitting showed up promptly. Shame they did not treat you equally well...it's a high end coffee shop where it's all about products and service IMO. Sipping an Ethiopia Work pour over. Damn the Ethiopians are blessed when it comes to coffee... HS I use the pre-folded filters and once I do the bloom and follow up with another 200+ grams of water I just give the slurry a good stir with a metal straw or the like and I don't have to do anything else assuming my grind is reasonably coarse, J. For what it's worth. HS
  8. Sorry to see this, Augsburger. Never fun when you spend good money on bad service/merch. I had a good experience with them on my espresso equipment fortunately. I hope they try to make it correct for you. HS
  9. Godspeed, Michael Lang... Co-founder of Woodstock. HS
  10. I do not take as many photos as I use to at racing events, but this caught my eye and I would be remiss not sharing. At last October's Texas Mile I had the pleasure of drooling over this Koenigsegg Regera. Truly an engineering feat....and...it comes with its own tuner (a breathing one with a charming accent...). The owner appeared disappointed with his speeds and left before the wind shifted to our benefit but we did get to see it make a few passes. HS
  11. Holy moly. I feel like I need a cigarette after watching and I don't smoke...
  12. LOL. Hope you didn't get burned, J. I've got the Niche set past the coarsest marked setting for the Chemex. I have far fewer issues with the pour over or French press than I do the espresso grind settings. Largely my own fault as I'm working through my coffee advent calendar still so I'm on constant rotation (left over beans from the morning pour over). The back to work schedule has me enjoying far less great coffee... Java du jour is a Columbia Juan Jimenez. Very easy cup to sip...sweet and sweet. HS
  13. Godspeed Mssr's. Bogdanovich and Poitier. You both moved the needle in my world... HS
  14. ^ that's what you call invested! Guatemala San Antonio Chaguite this morning ala Chemex. A lovely balanced cup...sweet nutty citrusey thing going on. Yum. Will torture myself with the espresso maker for my afternoon cup...LOL. HS
  15. Fortunately we have power but it's chilly for Houston...30's and I'm sitting next to the fire with the pooch sipping a lovely Kenya Gathaiti via Chemex. I run with a 15:1 and generally a medium to light-medium roast for the pour overs. It's been a lovely holiday... HS
  16. Godspeed, Chris... HS
  17. I have not tried the V60 but I can recommend the Chemex after many a year of French press. Will be curious to see if you prefer one over the other, tyrion. Happy caffeinating... HS
  18. Godspeed, Betty... HS
  19. I've owned it quite a while, ER, and the only changes I can offer where a thorough cleaning and I did retighten the 10mm bolt over the plastic disc (avoids "popcorning" of the beans and came after I received my Niche). The bolt initially loosened after my cleaning as I noted the disc wobbling a bit during a grind...I did not crank it down as tight as previously and it came loose. Since then I tightened pretty well. Those are literally the only changes other than I'm recalibrating more often mostly due to switching between espresso and pour over which I never did previously. Clear as mud... HS
  20. Fun comparison, grawk. Look forward to more reviews. I've been enjoying my Bianca. What I did not appreciate was the complexity on grinds given different beans and the impacts from aging. I also cleaned out my Nice Zero thoroughly and it seems to have shifted the grinds from their usual measures such that my Chemex pour over grind now needs to be more coarse...interesting stuff. The Onyx Advent calendar continues to impress. I should have been finished with the coffee by now but went sideways with the espresso machine so some good coffees left to explore into the New Year. HS
  21. Merry caffeinating! Sipping an Onyx Framily ala Chemex. Tasty Ethiopian. HS
  22. The issue with these heavy vehicles, and I mean the Challengers, Chargers, Jeeps and RAM’s…all of the hellcat based vehicles is the driveline. I had my transmission “built” which really only meant beefed up clutches and steels were available at the time, and I ate an aluminum sprag in it when I was using another tuner…over reved shift points. Now you can get a billet version of that sprag so you can push them harder. The transmissions, transfer cases, differentials (particularly the cases so a beefed up diff mount setup can prevent it) and the half shafts (axles) are all fuses. Beefing up the power by 100-150 rear wheel horsepower is easy peasy. HS
  23. This is my best pass. I think it's got another tick or two in it but I'll never see a 9 unless I up the boost and that means losing the cats, pinning the crank and a lower pulley swap (harmonic balancer). Trying to leave the daily alone...err as is. HS I could also pull the seats, etc... but I'm a lazy racer.
  24. That seems a very purist option. Fun. HS
