  1. Add some tacky gold plating and they will sell like iPhones in China.
  2. So fucking cool!
  3. Wondering aloud, maybe an early adopter were to tear into a HD800S and have the resonator scanned. Put the file on the 'net so 3D printed copies could then be made for the HD800.
  4. Seems to be a very nice big hunk of steel and copper wires. Another plus: the house smells like fresh varnish. I'll have a better evaluation once its powered up. There are quantum steps in R-Core sizes for rated power, so I kind of knew what I wanted. I simply specified to be <5.25 inches to fit the chassis/PCBs. Custom Magnetics was easy to work with. It will be tied down with screws thru the 4 gold transformer base plate hole to the chassis bottom plate. Easy peasey. The 0.47uf@63V caps are Wima MKS, Mouser p/n MKS2C034701C00JSSD. I used them there because I tend like film caps, and they fit. No other reason. http://www.mouser.com/Search/ProductDetail.aspx?R=MKS2C034701C00JSSDvirtualkey50520000virtualkey505-MKS2C034701CJSSD It should 15-0-15 CT be to used on the onboard LV supply on the Fat PS PCB. I have early GRLV PCBs that use 2 separate AC supplies. Kevin's newer boards (after the GB) can use a center tapped secondary. Plus I do not know the drop needed for the GRLV voltage regulators. So I added a few extra VAC compliance to the LV supply.
  5. My custom p/n 1380R001 R-Core arrived from Custom Magnetics this afternoon. Primary: 120VAC X 2 Secondaries: 360VAC@350mA X 2 18VAC@200mA X 2 Expensive at $250, as I paid the development cost. Anyone can contact Mike in Technical at Custom Magnetics and inquire for copies or a group buy of #380R001. They should be less expensive, but have not confirmed.
  6. http://m.av.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/news/20151002_723926.html From the photos, the SR-L500 looks like a conventional Lamda driver. The SR-L700 driver looks like a Lamda crossed with SR-009 stators.
  7. I ordered one today, but leave on a two week business trip on October 22. When you get yours, please post your impressions here so I can read about them first.
  8. FYI, PJ now has the Stax SR-L700 for presale on their site. Shipping on October 23rd.
  9. Schiit now has Multibit Bifrosts shipping. They sure finished up the refresh to their older DACs quickly.
  10. Looks like a TKD P65CS stepped attenuator http://www.tkd-corp.com/products/att/pdf/p65cs-e.pdf
  11. ^ All that just to power some headphones. Love the overkill! Can there ever be MOAR after the Circlotrons are built?
  12. Basic delta sigma Gungnir is ~$850. Adding the R2R DAC and Moffat over sampling filter is an additional $400 for a $1249 total. I have not heard the R2R Gungnir, but the Yggy is quite a step up in SQ to the basic Gungnir. From this review, looking forward to hearing one someday.
  13. The USB input is good. A Regen makes it better.
  14. A number of people are in the middle of a group buy and constructing the new KGSSHV Carbon. You might keep a look out for one of those that come up for sale.
  15. If if anyone intends to use the Gold Refence LV anytime, remember you will need to order the transformer with split secondaries and not center tapped. I just ordered a custom R Core from Mike at Custom Magnetics. 115VAC x 2 primaries/ 360VAC@350mA x 2; 18VAC@200mA x 2 secondaries. Not cheap for the custom engineered prototype. Maybe someone could contact them to piggy back a group buy and get a price cut on the engineering I am paying for. Sorry, but I don't have the bandwidth to follow thru on a GB.
  16. Thanks for clarifying. It wasn't. Working between the US and China, Solar, Lunar and fiscal quarter calendars, I needed the real dates spelled out.
  17. In my experience, Mouser has been top notch. Be advised that the SiCs are on back order there. Digikey has around 1000 on hand.
  18. In plain English, please.
  19. Received my Carbon PCBs today. Very well packaged and everything looks great. Thanks for making this happen, Michael. A most excellent job!
  20. The styling inspiration for the new Orpheus:
  21. Yes, 18VAC X 2. Probably overkill. But I don't believe the Golden Reference LV to be a low dropout design.
  22. Just a reminder. If you want the ability to use or to later upgrade to the Goldern Reference LV supply, get a LV transformer with split secondaries not center tapped.
  23. No further replies from Mike at Custom Magnetics. Maybe on summer vacation this week. Will ping him again this Monday.
