    Stax L700

I've used only a KGST with my L700. Sounds good. Never heard a Stax amp.
  2. A question late to the conversation: have you isolated the imbalance root cause to the headphones? Could it possibly be in the amp? Have you tried the 007s with other amps, or other ESL headphones with your amp? Just asking if you covered all your variables.
  3. Build one and report back.
  4. It helps to remember the One Hand rule by always keeping your hand on a cold pint. Just guessing, but I believe it would be closer to 53.2%
  5. Orthodynamicals be the bestest.
  6. Listened with my Yggy and KGST. They are a very pleasant, easy listening and natural sounding pairing. Reminds me of my Bose system in my Caddy ATS-V. Non-fatiguing balanced SQ and can listen for hours. Just no ultimate hi-resolution *pop*, boom and soundstage like its big brothers. Overall, very very nice. I don't have that much experience with Stax earspeakers or especially amps. Only using a KGST limits my opinion. On second listen, I think I can offer a good analogy about the differences in SQ in my rig between the SR-207 and SR-L700.The SR-207 sounds a little like a vintage alnico paper cone full range loudspeaker (think Fostex or WE 755, not Lowther). Not extended on either frequency extreme, but extremely coherent and natural sounding in the middle meat of the music. Nothing sticks out, and the music just happens. Just slightly lacking in dynamics and details, sins of omission. In direct A>B the SR-L700 sounds like a 2 way loudspeaker with a Kevlar woofer and metal dome tweeter. More extension on both ends, more apparent detail and *pop* and boom. But lacking that "single voice" the 207 has.I used the 207 earlier in my system with a DS Gungnir. I retired them to the hall closet thinking they were the weak link runt of the Stax line. Never listened to them with my Yggy until last night. With more use, I just might find them to be more enjoyable than my 700s over a long listening session. And they are lighter and more comfortable too. All in all, I find they are a great bargain and play well for Yggy/KGST owners. Other combos may be SOL. Please note that I have not heard a 307,407, 507.
  7. I ordered my SR-207s directly from Kaneda PJ. Not on their website, had to email for a quote. I have to give those a new listen. They've been sitting for a while in my hall closet. The 207 has different drivers from the 307, 407, and 507.
  8. Metcal is great station to solder with. I bought my SP200 years ago and still works like new. The tip/cartridges are expensive for the SP200 at around $15, but my employer has a good supply. The PS 800 uses less expensive tips and is just as good.
  9. If one were to use it with Kevin's Nanotube SiC Cyrclotron amp, would the Shangri-La become too nano infused and possibly implode to a singularity?
  10. Nevermind
  11. Wondering has a triode strapped 6V6GT been considered as a candidate in an electrostatic amp? They were spec'd for Veritcal Deflection Amplifer service in TVs. In my experience, in a classic P-P Class A circuit, they can sound as good as a DHT 45. The reissue Tungsol is inexpensive and on par with NOS.
  12. In a KGST? I don't believe it would work with a CCS on the tail as well as on each plate. That's a different circuit topology with a grounded cathode, rather than the BH, Carbon, and Kevin's latest grounded grid variants.
  13. Thanks for the belated Christmas present Kevin. What is the intended current thru each tube?
  14. Ni sha bi, xin ren wang zhan zai zhong guo de di yi ci Pardon my Pinyin, as I'm not Chinese or a native speaker. I am Laowei.
  15. From the Schiit FAQ page: Schiit LTD and this site are not about cheap fake Chinese crap. Not one bit.
  16. Beautiful work as always Kerry. Wondering if boards or gerber files will be available to the general public?
  17. Great! More practical ideas!
  18. I've had my Yggy since the first batch shipped last May. Agree with most if not all here about the SQ of this DAC. Since first powered up, I have been getting a lot of enjoyment out of it. Added a Regen with DIY low noise 8V PS with R-Core transformer, Schottky rectifiers, Elna Silmic II caps. It makes for a most pleasant addition to the Yggy.
  19. The new LCD-4 is getting very good reviews on Head-Fi.
  20. Any Black Friday specials today?
  21. Received my cap package today. Everything looks great. Thanks Soren!
  22. Will the custom heatsinks available from Mjolnir Audio for DIYers? :D
  23. Super job, Soren. Much appreciate all the hard work to make this GB happen.
