Recently my SR-009 has developed an intermittent drop out in the left channel. It comes and goes when I wiggle the cable about 1/2 inch below the earpod connector. I am planning to open it up and check the cable for continuity and if OK, will resolder the internal connections. If not I will replace the cable. My only previous experience with disassembling the SR-009 involved only changing out the earpads. The first question I have is this something I can DIY on my workbench? Or is a clean room required to properly service, requiring these to be shipped to a STAX service center? Any weird quirks when working on these headphones, or will it be pretty straight forward?

LSK489 and LSJ689 are the n-channel and p-channel FET duals respectively. Reverse taper wired as you described would work with linear taper pots. Not log.

Same here.

Have you tried a 2" x 4" strip of Sorbothane stuck on your forehead to help dampen your skull resonances?

It is that good.

Too bad. Your loss.

Went to see Hachsaw Ridge.

FWIW, I prefer my SR-207.

Never seen Lowther PM-4As on the used market, going back 20+ years. The magnets are huge beasts, needing a rear bracket to take the weight load off of the front flange. Got my Lowthers when Tony Glynn first established Lowther America. Heard most of the old and new variants in my horns at that time. My preferences were always for the alnico motors. YMMV.

Exceptionally beautiful modern TP-1s. Did you go whole hog with PM-4A Lowthers in them? Back in the day, I used PM-7As, PM-2Cs and PM-5As in front loaded Chapman horns. I don't think you can't get enough alnico flux in those drivers to make them even MOAR BETTER. Also, light bulb diffusers help to minimise HF beaming. Geez, I'd love to hear your setup.

Beautiful build John!

Do not insert dry. You need to first take your time and gently massage the ear canals until they get wet with natural smegma. A little wine helps the process. Still dry after a half hour of foreplay? Use KY jelly liberally on each CIEM, and insert with a singular hard thrust.

Sorry, decided to back out at this time. I removed my order for one 10K pot from the list. -

Just a warning to folks that using an ohmmeter measuring a TKD log potientometer as a simple voltage divider can give false interpreted results. http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/parts/140241-faulty-tkd-potentiometers-video-link.html -

In case anyone missed this, TKD uses internal parallel load resistors shunting a linear center section to give a faked Log output. One gets squirrelly resistance measurements on a DUT out of circuit. Especially if you were expecting a true Log Law potientometer, like an Alps or Noble. -

Interested in one 10K. -
It's for the China market.

Everyone hears differently and has differing priorities. If we were discussing women, Tyll has fallen under the spell of the French Sophie Marceau, while most of us have a hard case of Japanese Yellow Fever. Which is more TOTL? Lol....
