Wow, you guys are true Apple believers. As much as I usually love their products, I'm still in wait & see mode with the iPad, I'll need to play with it first.

It would be really productive if you could actually use a pen instead of fingers.

Nate, you're probably thinking about iPeng. I've tried it recently and the integration between Squeezebox and CoverFlow interface is done pretty well. Still a bit buggy, but I think it's the best out there for now. http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/ipeng/id296941576?mt=8

I got the bike out the basement and used it to ride to university this morning, which is quite surprising at this time of the year. It's been a very warm winter, so hopefully there won't be any more snow and I'll be able to bike to school until next November, no more public transportation for a while.

I just browsed these two websites and it seems like big slippery slope, not unlike the audio hobby, and I could totally see myself getting into it. It's a good thing that my budget is tight this year and will be for the 2-3 years to come. Episiarch, I'm curious, what kind of coffee do you use for your everyday duties?
-
Thanks for the info episiarch, I'll read more on Gaggias machines. I drink my coffee black so milk-based drinks is no big concern. I have a stove-top espresso maker, but I find the taste inferior to both French-press and espresso machine. I'll try again, perhaps I need to use a different level of grinding.

I admit I was a bit skeptical at first towards all the praise these phones were receiving considering my past experiences with IEMs and also considering that most of the people who post in the JH13 thread over there don't have extensive experience with high-end headphones. But at the same time, there were people like boomana, jp#, tyrion, Voltron, Iron_dreamer, etc. who were claiming the JH13 were the real deal and that certainly piqued my curiosity. It's a leap of faith at ~1000$ and the wait between taking the impressions and getting the phones is painful, but in the end I think it's more than worth it. Are they FOTM? They've been out for a year and I have yet to see someone truly disappointed by them. Will they be replaced by a better model eventually? Possibly, but it doesn't change the fact that the JH13 are awesome now and I don't feel like I'm missing anything with them.

There are a lot of good reviews for the cheapass Delonghi EC155 at 85$ new. Anyone has experience with these? DeLonghi EC155 Review Yeah, I meant machines that are not all-in-one grinder/maker. We already have a separate grinder. Also, I'm pretty much a noob in terms of coffee making. I can differentiate a good from a bad espresso and there are certain types of beans that I prefer to others, but overall I don't need something super fancy.

Our faithful espresso machine has stopped working about two months ago and I've been rolling on French press coffee since then, but I miss the habit of waking up with a good espresso. The cost of repair (replacing the boiler) would be 100$+ for a machine that's worth at most 300$ new (it's 10-15 years old), I don't think it's worth it. So I was wondering, is there such a thing as a good modern espresso machine (manual of course) that can be had for 300$ or less?

LOL, the fit on my pair was perfect the first time around and I actually used my index and major finger as a bite block when taking the impressions because the guy didn't have one! You must be on to something.

I hope I'll end up there too when I die.

I don't think your dislike for the O2 would necessarily translate on the JH13, but if you think the bass on the ER4S is perfect, then I'd just stick with them and wouldn't worry about anything else.
-
Etymotic ER4P were my "reference" IEMs for a while, because they were the only IEMs I heard that provided a satisfying midrange and extended highs. Bass was a bit anemic, but I just accepted at some point that I had to live with it. I've owned a few IEMs (SE530, Westone 3, Shure E4, Altec Lansing im716, Triple.fi 10 Pro) and the ER4P always remained my favorite. That is, until I heard the JH13. Not only do they eat the Etymotic for breakfast, but they're also some of the best headphones I've heard in general, second to the O2 maybe. But unless you're Kevin Gilmore, you don't have portable O2 rig with you.

First full-size rig on H-F: Needless to say, I knew little about headphones, sources and good recordings at this point. The amp was OK though, a MisterX Pimeta, and it was pretty good from what I can remember with the few headphones I tried on it.

The JH mob is getting stronger every day.

Sweet! They deserve better pictures though...

I forsee a new business for iPad docks. It would also be fun to see the Red Wine Audio iMad.

Pretty ironic that the ad is in Flash.

Happy birthday Jeff!

Cool, thanks for the precision!

Dinny, you wrote this on the other site: Are you saying that other amps provide you with a more satisfying level of bass or that the Slim still can't provide the little touch of bass that you're missing from the JH13? Your comment made me curious and I preferred to ask you here, this kind of stuff can cause a train wreck over there.
