AFAIC, it's OK for people to post Newegg deals and for other people to buy from them. I just won't.
In thinking more about how they've handled this, they are trying to cheat people of out money with the "not paying for shipping" issue. I don't know if it is a purposeful attempt to reduce their loss or just a poorly conceived procedure, but the result is the same. So buyer beware when dealing with Newegg.
It does not have a preamp out. However, who knows what might happen if you sweet talk Doug. Of course, you'd have to wait for him to complete his move.
I was being mostly facetious. They would probably get that one right.
The point is that they have proven that they might not get it right and it's a pain if the ass to fix things when they don't. Not worth it for me when the deal can be probably be easily matched with another vendor.
Me too. They are my favorite headphones.
If you decide to go this route, I suggest that you also consider and audition Doug's amps, the DSHA-1 and L-2. I'm loving how the DSHA-1 drives my HD800s and the L-2 does a nice job too. I'm sure that the GS-X would be nice too, though I've never listened to one.
Edit: Not sure if any of these amps will effectively drive the Dynaudio's.
I just sent an email requesting that the shipping be refunded. I also let them know that I wouldn't be considering Newegg for future purchases.
Dan, didn't they email you a UPS label to use to ship it back? They at least did that for me so I only have to deal with the original shipping from them to me.
Nate, how many bays do you really need? I was looking at 2 bay units in case I could talk them into that as a "like kind" replacement. At this point, I'll probably get something like this, but not at NewEgg.
Heh, my brother did something smart. He introduced his daughter to Matt the owner of his lbs, Casino Bicycles in Hemet, CA. Now they are dating. My brother just bought two Bianchi's, one for his daughter and one for his wife and got a $1700 discount on the two.
It's good to see him finally wising up.
I, of course, also received a "Wall Mount". They have emailed me both an RMA number and a shipping label. I asked them when I would be refunded and also got told it would be after the unit had been received. I said that since it was their error, it was unacceptable to make me pay for their mistake and they should refund the money as soon as they see that I've shipped it. I was told that they had to follow their process. I said that in that case I'd do a charge back as soon as I had shipped it. He warned me that Newegg would put a block on my account if I did that. I pointed out that considering how Newegg handled this, I was putting a block on their website.
The poor customer support person tried hard to help me. I was polite the entire time and told him that I understood he had to follow the process their. I encourage him to feed back up his management change that they just lost a customer and why. I also encouraged him to suggest a change in the RMA procedure when Newegg is at fault.
I think that Nate has almost 0 chance to get a "like kind" replacement. I doubt that they have any DS508 units to sell and I'd be shocked if they send him a DS412. I'll certainly wait to see if Newegg does send him one before shipping back my wall mount.
