  1. Just wanted to make sure that you knew.
  2. Come on, Iain, we know that you love life in the frozen tundra.
  3. Chris, note that minivans tend to fare poorly in the new "small overlap" test. Google "minivans fare poorly collision test" for more info. Apparently, the Honda Odyssey fares best, yet it only received a "good" rating: "The Honda Odyssey, which was tested in 2013, received the highest rating of any minivan, a Good, on the small-overlap test."
  4. Happy Birthday! :prettyprincess:

  14. REI is having a big sale now. There might me lots of interesting finds.
  15. I'm guessing that she's now on the naughty list?
  16. Happy Birthday, Dinny. :prettyprincess: Have a great one!
  17. The ingredients look to be fine. The description appears to be amiss.
  18. Indeed, very nice.
  19. Congrats to D'Artag.., er Lance.
  20. You have lots of friends in the US. I suspect that you could talk one of them into buying them for and shipping them to you.
  21. Doug, I have a kit to build the Doc Bottlehead Straight-8 speakers. I'd have to check to verify that all the pieces are still there. I did put a dimple in one tweeter with my thumb but believe there are ways to pull it out. I'd be happy to send it to you if you pay the cost of shipping. It's damn heavy so shipping won't be cheap, but it would be a lot less than $3K. I also have some enclosures built and would be happy to send them too, but shipping would be really expensive for them. They are made of HDF (heavy density fiberboard) and weigh a ton. The enclosures have rosewood trim and eucalyptus veneer, but the veneer has dried and would, imo, need to be removed and replaced.
  22. I understand. My shelves will be 2 to 2 1/8" in thickness and 29" by 19" in area. The legs will be about 2.5" square. The stand is made from 6/4 S2S white oak (1.5" surfaced two sides). I don't think that lack of sturdiness will be an issue. My class is done. I'll take it again next session, which starts in mid-January. I have to wait until then to have the proper tools to continue. That gives me a lot of time to change my mind on the design.
  23. Oops, I completely misunderstood your design. I thought it was all wood and didn't realize that it had metal legs and frames with wooden shelves fitting inside the metal frames. I'm building an all wood stand as this is a project for a woodworking class. So it looks like I won't be borrowing your design ideas for this stand. This is how I thought Dave's design worked, all wood with shelves let into dados and rabbets (top shelf). I'll talk it over with my instructor but I'm inclined to use this design instead of my original idea. I'd glue it all together rather than bolting it though. After seeing the price of these stands, I now don't feel so bad about how much money I have invested in the lumber I bought and had milled. If I do a decent job with the stand, I'll have quite the bargain. Also, I need some reasonable level adjusters to use for feet. Does anybody have recommendations? The feet used on this Timbernation stand look interesting. Does anybody know what they are?
  24. Happy Birthday, Mikey! :prettyprincess: Hopefully you have some whisky your age to drink. Enjoy!
  25. Happy Birthday, Chris! :prettyprincess: Hope you get a nice ride in today.
