  1. My condolences too. There will always be NorCal meets. See you at the next one I hope.
  2. "Only" $430? That's why I like white helmets. My RF1000 cost $260. Of course, it can get crazy. A woman that rides with our group is friends with Chris Woods, of AirTrix fame. She asked him to paint her helmet and to go "a little wild". He did. She was surprised by the cost as the bill for the paint job was $3K. Spending money for special paint on such a disposable product doesn't work for me. Like I said, I like white helmets.
  3. I bought mine as a replacement for one that had given its all. I keep it around as an example of why full face helmets are a good idea. I bought the same model and size and it fit well, just like the one it replaced. I also had plenty of time to ship it back if necessary as my 6 broken ribs were healing at the time.
  4. Where did you order them from? I haven't found better helmet prices than Ron Ayers (www.ronayers.com). You might want to check them out for future purchases. My eyes are really sensitive too. My right eye was injured when I was 5, and the pupil can't close down very far. I can't be outside during the day without sunglasses. It's funny though, I have better luck with wire frame glasses. Never wear used helmets that came with the bike. It's much better to protect your head with a nice, new helmet that you know is in good shape. There are strips of opaque plastic that stick to the face shield via static to block the sun. If you are cheap, you can put a strip of black electrical tape instead.
  5. Voltron and a lot of others were able to burn the candle at all ends at CanJam. Me, I was able to stay up til midnight (after traveling from the west coast) on Thursday and then 2:30 on Friday. On Saturday, I went to bed at 8 and got up at 9 the next morning. So I found my limits pretty quickly.

Come on. I'm sure that you have thought of several possibilities. Like this direction, for example.
  7. Shit, I wish that I were as young as you. Then maybe I could stay up till 5am for 3 days in a row.

Maybe it was a really tall snake.
  9. Have a nice time. Don't forget to see if Chumley has a better view of the world by now.
  10. That's great! Congratulations. I visited my Dad last Thursday. It was his 89th birthday. He's doing fairly well and is pretty aware, though his concentration is gone. Other than that he's totally in touch with reality. So we are pretty lucky.
  11. Besides friends don't let friends buy from Walmart! Please don't do it.
  12. I didn't like the way a Meier Opera drove my modded K340s. The sound was thin and compressed. The Opera was missing the voltage and/or current needed to drive them well.
  13. Also you need a good amplifier that can provide them a lot of current. They are very hard to drive.
  14. I only live 90 miles from LA, so I can be a surrogate too!
  15. I got up and fed the animals (3 cats, 4 parrots). Ate breakfast and went to my workout (Mistress Marisa is out physical trainer). Came home showered and then headed to Westlake Village to meet Greg (Augsburger) for lunch. He allowed me to buy some Wedell and Seasmoke Pinot Noir from his allocation (the wait list is years for both). I forgot my checkbook but he let me have them anyway. We had lunch at a very good BBQ place in Thousand Oaks. Then I went to BevMo looking for some Oogie. They didn't have any. From there I went to my sister's house in TO. My dad lives with her and today was his 89th birthday. We went to the BevMo in Simi Valley. Again, no Oogie. I bought some Laphroig "Full Cask Strength" instead. Came home and had a sandwich. Went to Thursday night Bridge. Came home and am comparing the regular Laphroig 10 with the Full Cask 10. The full cask is better as it should be for the cost difference. All in all a pretty busy day.
  16. CNN reports a 6.1 earthquake has hit southern Iceland. I hope everything is fine with you and your family Birgir.

    Here's an instant classic! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HG1LLTYkn4I
  18. I'm sure that the LA crew can party, but this meet is almost 400 miles from LA so there may not be many SoCal people there. Not to worry however, the NorCal crew parties pretty well too.
  19. $85 would be great. I just looked up the cost on their web site and $104 was the best I could find with AARP discount. Where does the $99 come from, not that $5 would stop me?
  20. While it's not the featured instrument, there is some nice baritone sax (at least I think it's baritone) on Gaucho "Deluxe".
  21. I forgot to add that I'll be bringing my usual gear: Home: HP2, Headphile modified K340, Darth Beyers Tarted out SP Extreme Platinum eXemplar Denon 2900 Bedside: Yuin PK2 (probably only for my use) Custom HeadAmp AE-2 (custom colors and engraving) iPod I think that Stacy will come. If so, I can bring one other person w/ gear. If she doesn't come, I can bring two addition people w/ gear.
  22. Hi John. I'd be interested in a hotel room there. Now it's just 4 to go.
  23. Since JP#'s and Ironbut have raved about Jackie Naylor at VSAC, I thought I'd buy her latest "The Color 5" at the Bottlehead site.
  24. I'll go dig it out of storage so I can tell you. It's not a great amp and it's not especially small, but it definitely is cheap!
