  2. Two purchases Sunday at the LA/OC Audiophile meet from Hajime Sato of Eastwind Import: Stan Getz with Cal Tjader (xrcd2) Hiroko Kokubu, New York uncovered (xrcd2)
  3. They did this in California a few years ago via the proposition mechanism. The bar owners fought against the proposition like hell. They were afraid that their business would die without the smokers. It got passed anyway. Lo and behold, the bars' business doubled. It seems that the smoke was keeping non-smokers away from bars. Duh. Run for your life as fast as you can. Now, before it's too late.
  4. Actually, it's two boxes. One is the power supply. Frank used to be a cabinet maker. The woodwork is magnificent and consists of ebony and Australian lacewood. It definitely has the "retro future" look that Moth made famous. I loved the look. The power supply also has two of the famous mercury vapor tubes that were in the power supply of the MOA amp.
  5. IMO, while they look the part, they neither felt nor (the one I listened to) sound the part. Amps at this price range should have a silky smooth motion when turning knobs and, for things like balance and tone controls, have a detent at the center position. These amps did not. If I closed my eyes, I could have easily been playing with a $100 generic receiver. I also listened to the headphone jack of a $3500 el84 based integrated amp. It was nice but nothing special. For that kind of money, it should be special. That's Frank Cooter's latest creation. If you don't remember Frank, he's the guy that brought the wonderful and bizarre diy amp to MOA. This amp sounded very nice to, but I prefer his MOA amp. Of course, the conditions here were very bad to do any listening so I reserve the right to change my mind on that. I told Frank about HC so hopefully he'll be joining us soon.

AFAIK, Wayne still has his face.
  7. I use Kimber 4TC cables and am ecstatically happy with them.
  8. But they seem to have a sense of justice. Maybe not. At least they have a sense of humor.
  9. FS One simulator. I bought my dad an electric helicopter and he hasn't flown it yet. So my sister and I split the cost of this simulator so he can practice a while without worrying about destroying something physical.
  10. It's sure hell getting older, isn't it?
  11. Maybe he'll accept them in trade?

For that price, shouldn't they at least have a tube?
  13. Just put a jumper in and you won't burn through any more fuses.
  14. Then you misspelled daemons.
  15. For dinner I had a burrito cubano from El Sito, a very authentic Mexican eatery in SB. Mmmm!
  16. Couldn't you use the waste heat to drive a midget sub?
  17. No, leprechauns avoid SP. The last time a couple of them found SP, they weren't seen again for over a year.
  18. Happy Birthday Matt. Enjoy! Of course, we know you will.
