Not 909 but can answer. They are Brussel Sprouts cut in half. I'm awake because I seem to be developing a head cold. So I'm eating some Trader Joe's 73% Super Dark Chocolate to "drown" my sorrows.

Today, with the exception of SC, the PAC-10 didn't do much to earn respect.

There's something wrong in Colorado...

Who knows? Part of Mikhail's problem is that he tends to tinker constantly with product lines. Another problem is that he takes on too much custom work. Did you ask for a 14A transformer or is that what he talked about? If you have doubts, call him up and talk with him. Tell him that you saw pictures of an Extreme external p/s and that it did not have a 14A transformer. Refer him to the pictures. Get the brand and product number of the transformer he will use. Make sure that you and he are communicating well and are both talking exactly about the same thing. I recently opened my Platinum Extreme, partially to verify that I had all the upgrades that I had ordered. That was after reading some of the recent SP threads both here and on HF. All upgrades were there. -
No sit ups, do crunches instead. Doing sit ups can hurt your back. As Old Pa says, don't start exercising until after your back heals.

He started out using a Plitron in the Platinum Extremes. At some point, he switched to the "14A xformer". So they are similar, but separate things. I don't know the rating of the Plitron for sure, but I seem to remember that it's 20A and Earl also thought that in this thread. I do remember that it was a downgrade when SP went from the Plitron to the 14A xformer. My (very limited) understanding is that 20A is not enough for 6528s, so I don't see how having an external p/s would allow it either. -

The Plitron or the 14A transformer is inside the main chassis. You can see the IEC connector and the wires going to the xformer in the 4th picture. At least that is my understanding and is what Mikhail described when I talked with him about the external p/s upgrade. Sorry, I wasn't bright enough to ask exactly what the Plitron and what the external p/s would supply after that. I'll know to ask before doing it now. -
You do really well when expressing complex ideas in English. For your English/American posting, you might want to download the American version of Firefox 3.x. It has a reasonable American spell checker. It's probably switchable to English spell checking too, but I haven't checked.

No, cans providing some fun are "fun". They are only funny if they also tell jokes or look strange. So the correct usage in the sense you meant is "PS-1s are more fun than DBs". Don't worry, most everybody understood what you meant. Shoot, I don't even know the word for funny in Spanish. What I do know is really Mexican and it's mostly food words. Then I'll continue to do so. Please let me know if it gets to be too much. Only a few people seriously play on words, typos or misspellings. Everybody has those problems now and then so it's like the pot calling the kettle black (see, I'm teaching you American sayings too ).

Yes, and as other people have suggested, developing a strong core (especially strong stomach muscles) will do the most to prevent future back pain. Edit: Hope you feel better soon so you can do the remaster on my Going Home album.

You're welcome. No need for a palmface at all. Your English is much better than my Spanish, or my French for that matter. When I lived in France, I wanted people to correct me when I made a mistake when speaking or writing French. After all, If I didn't know I'd made a mistake, how would I ever learn to do it right. Still, most people were too polite to correct me, even after I asked them to do so. Or maybe I made so many mistakes that they realized it would take all day to have a simple conversation. To do a little more correction, I think that you meant to say "more fun" instead of "funnier". Funnier means more funny. Unfortunately there is no such word as "funner", though people will sometimes jokingly use it. So you have to use "more fun" to mean that. If you meant to use "funnier", then I'm impressed at your sophisticated knowledge of English. And yes, English and American are strange languages.

I don't know the specifics about the history. I assumed that Joe made the PS-1 too. They sound so different from the rest of the John Grado headphones that I'm guessing either Joe helped and/or John got lots of input from the German distributors, who requested the PS-1.
-
Maybe you can get SARN to make such a product. At least they could say that they were the first company to do it.
-
I agree, they are very different. I thought I hated the Grado sound until I heard these two. Now I realize that I just hate the John Grado sound. I love the Joe Grado sound. I agree that they don't sound alike. It's just that to me, both are supposed to be "fun" headphones. They are too far from being neutral to be serious headphones. I'm saying that the PS-1 does it much, much better than the DB does.

The worst I've seen and felt (the heat) are these giant Wavestream tube monoblocks. I have no idea what the specs were, but the entire sound room was quite warm when these were running. I "experienced" them at the Analog Room in San Jose, CA in 1996. The setup sounded wonderful but was much more than I was willing to spend. Besides, I didn't need a new heater. -
Quite Fucking True I really like the PS-1 but prefer the neutrality of HP2 headphones. To me, the PS-1 is the fun headphone that the Darth Beyer is supposed to be. The PS-1 is so much better than the DB but of course, the cost is so much higher. I wish I could afford to have both the HP2 and PS-1, but I can't, so the HP2 stays.

Parafeed said that he's drawn out the circuit. That means that he's opened the amp. But it's not really a matter of trust. Please see below. I won't be surprised at all to find that you are correct. On the other hand, I also won't be surprised if maybe you are misremembering. I don't mean to imply anything else. When one states an assertion as fact, the onus is on that person to offer enough backing information. You are now searching for it and have emailed Craig. Soon you will have the backing information. I also know that you have the integrity to retract the statement if what you find doesn't match your memory. -
You have to set the points to be a real man's man.

Kevin made the initial assertion of fact, apparently without enough backing evidence. He has the onus to support his assertion. I'm more inclined to believe the person with the amp in front of them. After all, Kevin may been sent another bad picture. It would be nice if Parafeed would publish a good picture though. However, why should he ask Craig when he has the amp in front of him? -

So what you are saying is that it's somebody else's fault when you make a mistake? Now you're inventing things that I never said. Why? You quoted my post so you must have read it. So you know that nowhere does it say anything about you buying anything of Mikhail's? It's a nice use of a straw man argument though. I've never said that you don't know what you are talking about with regards to circuits, both your own and analyzing others'. What I said is that not everything you posit as fact necessarily is. That is undeniable as even you now admit, abeit in a round about way, that the Extreme really doesn't have the FET that you claimed it had when it was "designed to fail". I'm sure that you are correct the vast majority of the time, but was you say isn't gospel and shouldn't be taken as such. Too many people on HC do seem to take it that way. -
Come on. Just think how useful those pictures would be when you have the hiccups. You are mistaking a lack of respect for hate. They are not the same things. Or two or three.
