  1. I think that this is where Ray shines compared to the other amp makers, with Jan possibly being an exception. He does a better job of marketing and manufacturing his amps. He builds up interest at the right time and then is prepared to ship product immediately after it's officially announced for release. He also has a coherent product line, at least until recently. I think that he's overloaded the portable side of his line. Only time will tell though. I have to believe that he's going to retire some of the older portable models, but what do I know.
  2. I would recommend getting an adapter instead. That way you can listen both ways and it's cheaper than a retermination. Plus it's still balanced and easier to sell if you decide to later sell it. I own and highly recommend the Sialo adapter. Note: I saw that Nate later suggested an adapter too. Shill!
  3. Congrats Steve! I hope that you enjoy them.
  4. Happy Birthday!

I was in San Jose Tuesday and Wednesday. While I was there, I dropped my Helimot just to look around and mostly to kill time. Helimot recently discontinued the Stadler line because it was too expensive with the declining dollar. As a result, they are closing out what they have left. I bought a Limit jacket for $179. These originally listed in the $500 range. For those motorcyclists who don't know about Stadler, they make nice (and expensive) gear. They make a lot of the gear BMW sells. Apparently German police also wear Stadler gear. The jacket is extremely well made, with a gortex lining and a removable liner. The only downsides to this jacket are: 1. It's really oriented to cooler weather and has no vents. 2. Being European made, the zippers are reversed from what an American is used to. In other words, the slide mechanism is on the left rather than the right. If you could use a new, all weather jacket and neither of these problems are an issue for you, it would be difficult to find a better value than these jackets.
  6. You started things in that direction. Let's just go back to my post before that one.
  7. Actually, it involves bicycles. Velogreg would be in charge.
  8. Yes, if you come to the next National Meet in LA. I'm sure we can have an appropriate welcome gift for you.
  9. Stacy and I did a $400+ shopping spree at the Beverage Warehouse in LA yesterday. Highlights are: btl of Black Maple Hill Rye 23 yr old. 8 btls of Russian River Brewing Co. "Pliny the Elder" 3 Lucid Absinthe sets with glasses. 2 are for friends, 1 for me.

  11. Very nice Steve. So nice in fact that I suggested to Mike that he ply you with nice alcohol to get you to build him a custom tt. Don't give in easily.

  21. Is that all? I was expecting a large turnout.
  22. Will he get there before 4, for once?
  23. Matt modded my Eastsound E5. He did very nice work. You can see it here and yes, that's my E5 in the picture. The sound was definitely improved. I got my eXemplar Denon 2900 at the same time. The work in it was not as nice as things get really crowded in the chassis. After comparing the two, for me it wasn't close. The eXemplar trounced the modded E5. Since I listen to headphones a lot more than to speakers these days, I've kept the eXemplar in my headphone setup and the E5 is going into my speaker setup.
  24. Yes, I'm referring to the nut that ties the handlebars to the saddle. IMO, I need to ride as if I'm invisible, because I basically am. I rarely have trouble with assholes and only one person in 18 years of riding has purposely moved into where I was. But as you say, people often just don't register motorcycles in their vision. It's even worse for bicyclists. Instead of getting a cruiser, which is not that maneuverable in traffic and in urban situations, why don't consider a dual sport kind of bike. My around town ride now is a Suzuki DRZ400S with homemade bags. Actually the bags were made by John Chase of Chase and Harper fame, so they are very nice homemade bags. I'll post a picture tomorrow. This is the perfect around town bike. It's easy to ride, keeps up with traffic and gets 60 mpg. Being a dual sport bike, it soaks up huge bumps. It also has a nice, upright seating position. The only problem is that the seat is not comfortable for long term use, but that is easily fixable.
