  1. This looks interesting. Of course, it also looks like it will quickly get me over the $1K limit. I'm not looking for a top-notch setup, just a reasonable improvement over the TV's sound system. I've seen several packages with blu-ray under $1K. Of course, they very well might sound horrible. That's why I was hoping that somebody had actually heard some decent in the price range.
  2. Sorry to bring this old thread back to life, but I have similar questions and figured it would be best to keep just one Home Theater Setup thread. I recently took delivery of a Samsung LN40A640 TV. It's great and has me interested in also building a low level HT setup around it. I'm wondering if anybody can recommend an "all in one" HT package to go with this TV? It must include BlueRay support and I'm looking to only spend between $500 and $1K. Here's an acceptable example from OneCall.com. Of course, I'm hoping that you can recommend something twice as good and half the cost. Here is some info about the setup: In 14'3" x 12' 4" bedroom. So need smallish speakers. Used only for HT. So please feel free to recommend HT solutions for me and, as I am a complete HT noob, please feel free to recommend features I might need. Also please point out any good online references that I can peruse. Thanks in advance for your help and advice.
  3. I'd love to get in on this but can't justify spending $2500 for another amp, even to myself much less to my wife. I'd have to spend even more as I don't have the skill to build this complicated of a project. I wish you guys the best of luck with this and my heart will be with you. I can't wait to listen to one of these.

The offer will be open right up to the last minute. Stacy and I will probably leave SB around noon on Friday (5/29). Don't hesitate to drop in if it fits into your plans.

I had a few problems booking on line. The script has some issues. I found by starting over several times that if you did things in the correct order (for the script), I could finally make it work. BTW, I booked from Friday (May 29) to Sunday (May 31). I'll ask for a late checkout on Sunday.
  6. Here at HC, you have 15 minutes to edit a post. After that it's saved as is for posterity.
  7. Good luck to your friend Mike. I hope everything works out well.
  8. It's a matter of prioritization. With the exception of Peter, nobody in the US cares about tea or how long it takes a kettle to boil.
  9. I predict that as usually happens, some people will prefer the HD800 and some people the PS-1000 and neither side will understand the other.
  10. You can shoot just down the street from the hotel at CanJam.
  11. Very nice plug. Of course you had to had to have such a safeguard since most houses in the UK are wired by Lucas.

  13. Happy Birthday Dan. I hope that you have a great one!
  14. No, that's Lily's job.
  15. Good, I was just about to suggest that maybe you needed to get the girlfriend out of your system. Still ...
  16. Happy Birthday!
  17. iPod? I get some of my best listening in when traveling as there is usually nothing else to do.
  18. My 8 year old Eureka canister vacuum broke yet another part. The local repair shop was selling the Miele Carina for such a great price, I snapped one of the remaining two up. Carina + 2 boxes of bags and filters cost $299 including tax. The cheapest I've found it online is $399 and that's without the extra bags and filters. Gee, aren't I a sweet homemaker?
  19. Happy Birthday Colin.
  20. Thanks Antonio. I mistyped the model. It is S4101.
  21. My wife bought a Formosa model S4104 guitar. She bought it because it's signed by Stevie Nicks. Just for kicks, I decided to see what Formosa guitars were about. Google returns no useful information. Does anybody know anything about Formosa guitars?
  22. Happy Birthday Steve! :jbl:
  23. I think that as long as you didn't install the controller in your bladder or eat it, you're probably OK.
  24. I've been waiting since late October for this Samsung TV to get cheap. I'm surprised as its price seems to fluctuate up and down. This weekend it's on sale at my favorite online store. It's almost the cheapest I've seen it and I love OneCall.com. So I finally pulled the trigger. Of course, now that I finally went ahead, the price will probably drop like a rock next week.
