  1. Except the one of me, of course. I just don't know why they all come out like that.
  2. I was tempted to show the Benchmark table my Benchmark product, which I bought on Peter's recommendation. They probably wouldn't have been amused when I showed them my Benchmark Mini-griptilian knife.
  3. Free equipment is always decent. Get it, listen to it and Audoigone it if you don't like it.
  4. Eric Alexander Quartet - Lazy Afternoon ~ Gentle Ballads IV This is one of six CDs that I bought from Hajime@Eastwind at CanJam. Sorry for the small image, it was the only one I could find.
  5. Where do you live in MA, Andrew. When I lived in Waltham and Acton from 1980 through 1985, the Winecellar of Silene in Waltham was my favorite wine store.
  6. OneCall.com has a weekend special on the VIERA 46". Here is the info.
  7. Hi Julian. It was great meeting you at CanJam. At HC, you must be careful what you ask for as you are likely to get it. Also, anybody having "Cool" in their moniker will be a target due to another member, who has it.
  8. Great looking kitty. Would you like a white one to go with it?
  9. That's just the ssssslowness you are hearing.
  10. This pretty much summarizes my post.
  11. I kept finding it hard to believe that anybody would be so pretentious as to ride a Segway at a meet. So I did just a little checking on Noel Lee (CEO Monster Cables) using google. It turns out that he has a degenerative nerve disease and has trouble walking. Here is the URL. So from now on I'll not bash Mr. Lee for riding a Segway. I'll continue to bash Monster Cables, however.
  12. That's hard to say and probably varies with different pieces of equipment. I don't mind spending more if I really feel I'm getting something for it, but like to find "bargain" pieces. For example, my main source is an eXemplar modded Denon 2900 with full mods. I bought it used from jpnums and then had it modded to full level. As a result, I have $1900 into it. For Redbook reproduction, it rivals $5K and higher. I've heard better front ends, but they were way more than I wanted to spend. For amplifiers, I have one main one that I've sunk about $3k into. I really like it and am in no hurry to upgrade. Part of the problem here is that my amp is a Singlepower and now has very little resale value. For headphones, I just bought both the HF2 and HD800. I thought that both were good buys for the money. I also have a Grado HP2 and Headphile modded AKG K340. I may keep all four or some may go. It depends on what I end up listening to.
  13. There are many points of diminishing returns. Each person's point is different than everybody else. It depends mostly on one's ear, taste and financial means. My main point though is that there is no universal point of diminishing returns, it's totally subjective.
  14. I'd rewrite your first sentence as "Markl's integrity is broken", but I'm just guessing. Otherwise I agree completely with your post.
  15. No, no, no! Unbelievable speed? Snap? Markl says that these are the slowest dynamic cans he's ever heard. So how can they possibly be fast?
  16. That's a great picture of a budgie (parakeet).
  17. Peter, you did notice my winky emoticon, didn't you?
  18. I don't know how to tell you this, but your ears can't breathe. It's a no-lose proposition to buy the HF2. If you like them, great. If not, there's a 30-day return policy, you can sell them for no loss or you can keep them a couple of years and probably sell them for twice what you paid for them.
  19. It makes the highs sound cleaner? I never noticed the cable. That's a good thing.
  20. Welcome Wayne. Glad to see you here.
  21. Mine were delivered at Stacy's place of work. Since she won't be back from DC until 8 pm tonight, I'll be making a drive out to Goleta this afternoon. Oh well, I had to stop by the credit union and Costco anyway.
  22. Is this one of your Eastwind purchases, Vicki?
  23. My first allotment at Sea Smoke Cellars. I bought the entire allotment of: 4 bottles of 2007 "Southing" Pinot Noir 2 bottles of 2007 "10" Pinot Noir Total cost include tax (but not shipping): $384.98 Damn you Augsburger. It's all your fault.

    slow forum

    Yep, that's a helluva save.
  25. There were lots of misspellings and a couple of outright errors. We are not impressed with PFO's editing skills.
