  1. Very few US audio stores have anything for headphones. My advice is to find some people in the cities you are visiting that would let you audition their equipment. I know of one member in Las Vegas and there are many members in both LA and SF. If you can get up to Santa Barbara from LA, you are welcome to try out your headphones (and mine) with my amps. BTW, the verb you want is "to audition". "Audience" is a noun referring to the group (could be 1) doing the listening.
  2. I bought Thrice's Airport Extreme. While it was easy to configure, it didn't come up right away and debugging tools were non-existent. The Extreme could not find the ISP. I fiddled with it and finally got it to come up correctly. Agreed. Once the Airport Extreme could find the ISP, I was easily able to connect my Micro$oft computers to it. As part of the router upgrade, I switched from WEP to WPA. Greg, let me know if you have trouble tomorrow. If necessary, I'll drive to Westlake and help you with it.
  3. Aren't you supposed to be playing with a pressure washer? Or is that already done?
  4. The English are using a French system? Who'd a thunk it? Thanks for the education. I'd never heard of Gay-Lussac before.
  5. Magic? Isn't it kind of like what happens when cables improve the sound?
  6. I have neither of them. After thinking more about it, I think it was the Skype add-on that was giving me the problem. Obviously that add-on is not your problem, but you can easily disable your add-ons to see which, if either, is causing your crashes.
  7. Usually Todd is really happy to talk with customers. However, he's between a rock and a hard place regarding the HF2 and probably wishes he'd never heard "HF2". I thought it was 42.
  8. Is it me or is something wrong with the label? It says "100 Proof" near the top and "57% Vol" at the bottom. "57% Vol" is 114 Proof, assuming it's talking about the alcohol content. If it's not talking about that, what is it talking about.
  9. He was being a smart ass and was not serious. The same was true about a Trevor Networks amp. Neither of those is what you are looking for. I do find both of those posts to be quite funny though.
  10. I had lots of problems with 3 crashing. The problem turned out to be an add-on. Sorry, I can't remember which one it was. I haven't had a single crash since I upgraded to 3.5. You might want to start disabling add-ons to see if one of them is causing the problem.
  11. Carole King - Tapestry
  12. Yes, but only the "Head-FI" version.
  13. Are you Sirius?
  14. How about changing the shipping address to be your work? That should be safe. On second thought, maybe not. I assume that there are other lawyers there. I'm also assuming that there is someone there even though you are away.
  15. If you are offering meals from In-N-Out, then you have a good chance of Justin expediting your order, otherwise ...
  16. A couple of bridge books from Amazon:
  17. They look great Peter. BTW, do your Leatherheads go up for sale once you receive yours?

Absolutely. What's not possible is then to get drunk enough to forget that you got it.
  19. Is it about the fallout from the "Head-F1" screw up?
  20. You must live east of 495.
  21. The people from western Mass are OK, it's the people east of 495 that are Massholes. Of course, in the 23 years since I lived there, the event horizon may have expanded somewhat to the west.
  22. It actually made sense. The foreign language requirement was from the old days when many research papers were published in a language other than English (usually German, French or Russian). By the time I entered grad school in 1976 you could find pretty much everything in English. So knowing a computer language was actually more useful for research than knowing a foreign language. In almost 30 years of being a s/w engineer, I've studiously avoided learning Cobol.

He just took that role to prepare for Foxfire.
  24. I had to have a minor in grad school and chose Comp Sci. The use of computers to gather and process lab data was just starting and I thought it was a good minor. We also had a foreign language requirement, and knowledge of a computer language fulfilled it. After a couple of years as a physiology grad student, I was tired of killing things and didn't really like the future path ahead of me. So I made my minor my major. It was one of the smartest moves I've made, probably only second to deciding to go to work for Stratacom rather than ACC (Advanced Computer Communications) in 1996.
  25. Sorry to hear about this Andrew. Hopefully it's just a matter of cleaning up for you rather than repairing damage. Also hope that family is all OK.
