Condolences to you and your ex.

I'm curious Dan, why not? They are pretty standard now and work reasonably well with all browsers. Anyway, I'm glad not everybody feels the same way as I make my "toy money" writing them.

McAlister used to be thought of as "worse than Singlepower". I'm not sure that's the case any longer.

I bought a used one, so I can't say for sure what a new router would mean. Generally when changing the security protocol it's a two step process: 1. On the router, you have to configure the new protocol (wpa2 in this case). Generally this means means setting the new protocol and giving a new connection password. 2. For each computer/device that attaches to the network, you have to find and connect to the new wireless network that you created in step one. This will require you to enter the new connection password. If you have a lot of computers/devices to attach to the network, step 2 is a bit of a pain. But everything is pretty straightforward. When I upgraded, I had 3 laptops and a printer to add to the network. It only took 15 minutes to add them. Later I bought a PS3. It was trivial to add to the network. So you can do this.

Happy Birthday.

Yep. Prepaid non-view room is $81/night. I've had a slight change in plans. Stacy and I will be coming up Thursday and spending Thursday night in San Jose. She'll work at Cisco Thursday and Friday. Then we'll be at the Doubletree Friday and Saturday. See you all there.

Yay! There's nothing like Xmas in July!

I need a new, ergonomic mouse. Stacy bought me a Logitech Nano V450 last night and I like everything about it except it's too small and not ergonomic. Can somebody please suggest a mouse with similar characteristics to the Nano (laser and wireless included) in a full size, ergonomic package? Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Andrew, give them a call. Maybe you can convince them to make a no-cost-object version.

Please let me know if and when you know about a room discount and I'll make a reservation. We'll talk about which night is best when you're sober, even though you are more fun when you are drunk.

It's funny that Doc B might be there. On Sunday, I was straightening up the storage area over my garage. I came across an unopened box from Bottlehead, which I'm sure contains the Paraglow kits I ordered years ago. Now I have to decide whether I'm ever going to build them or if I should put them up for sale. Is the Doubletree the same place that the event was held June of last year? Can we get a discount for the room? I assume that for attending social events, it would be better to stay Saturday night? Anyway, I'm looking forward to the meet and seeing everybody again.

What's up? Did your mom and dad ground you?

Looks pretty but would get boring very quickly. My wife and I went to the Cook Islands for our honeymoon. We spend 7 days on Raratonga (the main island) and 4 days on Aitutaki. While it was nice, we were ready for home after the 11 days. Yeah. I could go to Mandello del Lario to visit the Moto Guzzi factory. :p

Don't you mean HF&?

Looks like ika ingredients to me.

Giant lawyers are the worst.

Why do you feel the need to come here and whine about people whining elsewhere?

You're welcome. When I lived in France, I hated that (almost) nobody would correct my errors. How was I to learn to speak correctly without correction. On the other hand, I probably made so many errors that we could never finish a conversation if they corrected them. I'm curious, where are you from? Santa Barbara is 100 miles north of LA going up the coast. How long it will take depends on exactly where in LA you will be leaving from and the traffic. If you drive during a low traffic time, it will take about 1.5 hours each way for the trip. I should warn you. My best amplifier is a Singlepower Platinum Extreme. Considering what we know now about SP, I wouldn't recommend buying one. Still, it would give you an idea of how your K701s would sound driven by a good amp. Other than that, I only have small amps (Corda Headfive and Headamp AE-2) that would do a great job driving them. So you might also want to try to meet up with other members in LV, LA and SF. Shh! You'll ruin our reputation.

Very few US audio stores have anything for headphones. My advice is to find some people in the cities you are visiting that would let you audition their equipment. I know of one member in Las Vegas and there are many members in both LA and SF. If you can get up to Santa Barbara from LA, you are welcome to try out your headphones (and mine) with my amps. BTW, the verb you want is "to audition". "Audience" is a noun referring to the group (could be 1) doing the listening.

I bought Thrice's Airport Extreme. While it was easy to configure, it didn't come up right away and debugging tools were non-existent. The Extreme could not find the ISP. I fiddled with it and finally got it to come up correctly. Agreed. Once the Airport Extreme could find the ISP, I was easily able to connect my Micro$oft computers to it. As part of the router upgrade, I switched from WEP to WPA. Greg, let me know if you have trouble tomorrow. If necessary, I'll drive to Westlake and help you with it.

Aren't you supposed to be playing with a pressure washer? Or is that already done?
