  1. Yesterday, did a lunch ride to Johnny's in Ventura with a friend. Johnny's is the "best burrito joint in the world" according to this poster in Sunset Magazine (near bottom of page). I don't know if that's true, but the Pork and Chile Relleno burrito I had was the best burrito I've tasted since returning to California in 1988.
  2. Are you sure this wasn't a Scottish Wimp Festival? Why would they be tossing pickled, immature flower buds?
  3. Isn't the Vincent a Chinese amp? The OP has already said he's not interested in Chinese amps.
  4. Sorry to hear about your bad day Vicki. I'll drink some whisky for you. Glad that you had your phone and JH13 Pros with you.
  5. Calling Ironbutt. Come in Steve. I think that r2r's can make the best sounding sources. Steve's is wonderful and Doc Bottlehead's $15k setup at the recent NorCal meet was absolutely killer. The problems with them are: 1. They are awful fiddly. 2. Good recordings are really expensive. Here is the tapeproject run by Doc Bottlehead. Tapes are $300 each. 3. Skipping around on them (seeking) is a slow pain in the butt. They work best when you set up the tape and then let it play. Please note that I know very little about modern r2r playing. Steve and others can give you more educated information.
  6. Did Mikhail ever work on this amp? Instead of wallwarts, maybe he stuck an iPod in it.
  7. Shouldn't this have been posted in the "What are you drinking?" thread?
  8. Depends on where you move to the desert. Phoenix and Tucson used to be great havens for allergy sufferers. Now both have so much grass and other non-native plants that they are very bad for most people with allergy issues. Are you sure you're not a vampire?
  9. Thanks. I didn't realize how cheap they were. Doh! I should have checked. For their price, I can afford a bad tube from time to time. I was looking at a tester that can test everything from 4 pin tubes up to the compactrons. Of course, it was more than I wanted to spend. No I don't have to. Yay!
  10. That too. Sorry, should have said "new friends", though you'll probably be visited by existing friends too. I'm smart enough to count to three. Three posts up from your post is a post by Naaman.
  11. I'm looking to buy a tube tester and would like to make it a bit future proof to my buying habits. Before researching the testers, I never knew that 12 pin tubes existed. I'm talking about 6KD6 compactron type tubes. Does anybody here use them, design with them, etc.? Has anybody even seen a piece of audio equipment that does use them? I'm guessing that I won't ever need to test them, but would like to know more about them before I dismiss them.
  12. Naaman is smart. Still, that may only cut down the number of friends by half.
  13. Don't you know that cable candling leads to a huge improvement in their SQ? Of course, you have to candle in the correct direction.
  14. Naaman, you are about to have lots of friends.
  15. This explains how wax gets into the ear. We are looking for a way to get it back out.

  20. It's still early in Hawaii.
  21. Is it because doctors type even worse than they write?
  22. I would have thought that you've already seen enough beach to last a lifetime. What you need to see is some ocean.
