  1. Tomorrow, I'm flying to Philadelphia and then driving up to Scranton, PA for my niece's wedding this weekend. I don't know the area at all. I'd appreciate any suggestions for interesting things to do in the area. Thanks in advance for your help.
  2. C'mon, Wayne's not old.
  3. Happy Birthday Steve! :prettyprincess:
  4. Happy Birthday Wayne! :prettyprincess: Have a great one.
  5. Congratulations. It's good that you are skilled at this because grant application writing will probably be a big part of your professional future.
  6. Good luck tomorrow Dinny. Run smart!
  7. Don't laugh, we saw glued stacks of quarters being used for ballast in a switch box at DanJam.
  8. Good luck. If you do win, we'll all expect a chili meal at CanJam.
  9. Papa John's was pizza in only the broadest interpretation of the word. Still, late at night bad pizza is better than no pizza. Barely. It was great meeting you Brent.
  10. I really like 7n7s, especially the older tall bottles. I also really like the prices for 7n7s. When asking for tall bottles, be sure to get old, original tall bottles. I received one that appears to be a Soviet 6sn7 that was converted somehow to loctal. While it is a very interesting tube, it doesn't sound as good as older Sylvania 7n7s, tall bottle or not.
  11. Even at 1/4 off, they don't come close to the Monoprice 3' cable. At least they don't bend you over
  12. Happy Birthday Jim! :prettyprincess: Hopefully you'll get to spend the day listening to music and testing tubes for your BA.

For $50, who cares about reliability? Worst case it's a throw-away in a year or two. Virtually all battery/quartz watches are disgustingly accurate.
  14. FIFY. To the OP, there's no use in trying to buy used. Dinny will always beat you to it.

You like it and it's cheap (price-wise). What's the problem? Who cares what anybody else thinks about the brand or the watch? It's better to go with your gut feelings rather than others' gut feelings.
  16. Finally got around to ordering the Beatles Mono and Stereo remastered box sets. Then bought Dave Brubeck - Indian Summer at the concert tonight.
  17. Ditto. Hopefully the rain will stop there soon. You guys have had more than enough.
  18. Ooh, very nice. I'm ashamed to admit that I haven't had time yet to try out the Jackson 648 that arrived just before DanJam. Gotta get to it.
  19. Tomorrow night Stacy and I are going to listen to Dave Brubeck at the Lobero.
  20. Happy Birthday! :prettyprincess:
  21. It's Mother Nature's solution to the Atlanta traffic problem.
  22. Round trip ticket from SBA to PHL (Philadelphia) for my niece's wedding in the Scranton area next weekend. Unfortunately, this won't be no DanJam. Greg, I have a couple of Ojai Vineyard questions for you. My local winestore has the following: Ojai Vineyard 2004 Syrah Thompson Vineyard...$31.99 Ojai Vineyard 2004 Syrah Whitehawk Vineyard...$31.99 Are you familiar with these two Syrahs? Are these good prices and do you recommend one over the other?
  23. You too?
  24. If you are using UDP and have dropped packets then you lose data, which really slows things down as you have to repeat the transfer. Many UDP apps do the checking and retries at that layer, but it tends to be slower than TCP as TCP's checking and retry mechanism has been very well optimized over the last 35 years. If no problems occur in TCP, it's only about 80 instructions to get through the layer. Most of the bulk is handling the very strange errors and conditions that can occur.
  25. Strawberry jam, ewww! Now maple syrup and breakfast pork, that's another story.
