Oh. I thought maybe it was that time traveler again.

I'm not seeing a place to upload avatars. I can see the edit page for them, but the only two options are: Enter a URL to an online avatar image -or- enter your Gravatar e-mail address I usually roll my own here. Is there an option for uploading pics like there is for the profile photo? Thanks. I know it's been a lot of hard work.

Happy Birthday, Grahame. Hope you have a great year ahead!

Looks great. I'll hit up the mobile site with my Droid later this evening. At dinner. I'll probably get a salad fork thrown at me, but it's a job I must take on. And yeah, it is fast. Me like.

Cable vendor slapped for unproven claims (UK)

Not tasteful. Perhaps the fragrance of soil would be more suitable. :basement: -
T.Rex - Electric Warrior. Brilliant. I'm certain I've never heard it all the way through in my life. I've missed out.

Sounds like your speakers are not set up correctly in the room. Try one of the FAQs on audioasylum, like the Cardas speaker setup link. Once that's dialed in, I'd get the sub close to your left or right speaker, but definitely not centered between them. I haven't looked in to this recently, so I'm not toally up on the latest. Speaker setup is a long process. I bought a pair of Tube Traps a little over a year ago and as part of the cost they did a measurement-based room analysis for me. My speakers are futher out into the room now, and sound better than ever. It'll take a bit to get used to the lack of room boom from your main speakers, but you'll get smoother overall sound. Also, to assist your ears, if you have a computer or laptop in that room, try Room EQ Wizard. With that and a basic calibrated mic, you can take some good measurements to confirm any differences you might be hearing. Finally, head over ot the Rives Audio forum on AudioAsylum. I'll bet there are decent sub placement discussions already logged.

Cool! Enjoy and get it in a part fo the room that doesn't hype-up any wild boomy frequencies. My last house (sold in 2003) seemed to outsmart us, always breaking things that would keep us from selling it. I think it liked us too much. Good luck to you. As for my purchases, I ordered a pair of ATH-ESW9A for work. Now to plan for a good work DAC.

Usually what you'll get with one is better duplex receptacles and better connector wiring inside. Home Depot strips are built to a price point based on highest margin (likely, anyway) so the crap factor would be high if it retailed at $15. If you've ever ripped one apart, you'll find that many are not even wired together. They have weird form-fitted metal strips connecting the works up instead. From my own experience, I had one'a them HomeDe'Po strips around when I was auditioning a Shunyata unit (conditioner). The biggest shock in the weekend demo was not how good everything sounded when using the Shunyata, but how truly awful everything was when going back to the cheap power strip. Good gawd. Soundstage collapsed, noise showed up, and an amazing batch of bleh was injected into my tunes. Synergistic is making a strip, and you might even be able to find an older AudioPrism, although both proably retail for around $500. They seem a little expensive. You might be able to find a metal-framed power strip at HD and then retrofit it with better receptacles and wiring for less. Do.U.DIY?

01/11/11 , in binary form of 011111 is 31 in decimal, written 31 dec. Since my birthday is December 31, then today must be my Binary Birthday.

I heard that combo in October. I thought it worked really well, although the music was unfamiliar.

Happy Belated Birthday to you both. Knuckles, I gotta say: I don't know how you do it, but I am always amazed at the sheer volume of stuff you post in slow forum. Truly amazing.

Thanks for the info Posty! I had forgotten about the DacMagic being in that range.

Once these get out in the wild, I'd like to know how this compares to the Buffalo. Looks like by the time a Buffalo were packaged up the cost would be roughly the same.
-
OMG. It's Richard and Dave. I would've bet serious dollars to never see them here.
-
Yeah, the specs are good. Seems like a lot of competition at the 1k price point.

I agree, Tyll. I was surprised to see yet another company show up with an obvious lack of audio knowledge. OK, maybe I wasn't surprised. But reading the marketing hype for "thumping base" and the worn out " crystal clear mids and highs" thing... It just speaks volumes about who they are and what they might be caring about (iPod carying kids.) As for Monster, instead of jumping on instant litigation, it might be more fun for them to set the record straight and use these challenger products in a public and friendly shoot-out. What's to lose?

Kenmore canister vacuum. Will the excitement never end? Our old upright had trouble standing, lock mechanism snapped off. New unit has three hepa filters. I'm a little bummed that decent vacuums cost $500 these days.

Oh sonofa. *sigh* One day. Have fun guys and gals!

"These on-ear premium headphones are tuned to deliver natural, thumping base with crystal clear mids and highs. What you hear is just what the artist intended. Fanny Wang's On Ear Headphones elebrate the beauty of music on the outside as well as the inside. The iconic Wang design features a duo-fold design with sturdy aluminum hinges, a removable cord, and an integrated Duo Jack which allows you to easily share your music." You could be wearing an iconic Wang. A pair, no less.

That's 4:20 for the rest of us.

CES is this weekend. Once the new versions hit the shelves, these should be right in range.

Good. I need a few other items from the 'zon anyway. Like one of those handy gooseneck webcams with nightvison so I can see (in the wall) if I'll be able to pull my own hdmi cabling. Yay.

I say politically correct because I can either support Tyll and purchase at Headroom, or support Head Case and use the Amazon link. My head doth explode.
-
Finally, to be politically correct, where did anyone get theirs? I see them for sale at Headroom, Amazon, Audiocubes is rather high at $369.
