  1. What's with the run on beats at our fair 'case? Shit. The only thing they're good for is testing how much current can be passed through a transducer before it catches fire.
  2. I'd really like to try the diddybieber kobegaga headphones. So would my friend.
  3. Nice post, CherryBomb. Thanks for the raw and real impressions. Much appreciated.
  4. We should have a casejam.
  5. JH13 Get your 595s and save for the Mini3.
  6. Another vote for the Amphions. I wish I had a spot to use some as I would grab a pair pretty quickly.
  7. Well, Happy Birthday, VickiBoo. Hope you had a great day!
  8. Be sure to get the updated drivers as well for the 518. The older drivers can occasionally walk the cursor across the screen, even when the mouse is untouched. Sometimes at work I sit and watch to see where it will go...
  9. In that case, screw playback, he should hire all the bands and have them perform live.

    Flac Assumptions

Yes. Yes, I like that. Mixing archiving with upsampling...Just pick 1, Brian!

    Flac Assumptions

Simplicity. Upsample the wav file first, then compress. I thought there might be a way to create a 24/96 flac file with a single command.

    Flac Assumptions

I'm startin down the rippin road. I need to unload a batch of older CDs and am ripping them with EAC. My assumptions for using flac.exe to do this are: * There is no upsampling feature I can use with EAC (from 16/44 to 24/96) * The flac file format should be fairly future-safe. * I can play flac files on many DACs that I may be able to buy today. I am also assuming that when I read about others here with a 24/96 flac file that the file was first a 24/96 WAV which was then compressed to 24/96 flac. Is that correct? (Or is there a way to do this in a batch process maybe with Adobe Audition? Probably. ) My real question is: are my assumptions correct? Thanks. Brian
  13. An M2Tech Hiface retails at around $199, so not cheap. But it would mean you could go from USB->SPDIF if you have an existing SPDIF cable.
  14. Same here. The math just doesn't work out in my head that 3", even with a decent excursion, could produce even a 100Hz waveform.
  15. I was thinking RS-2 to the RS-1. No worries. I'm seeing some comparison notes in the thread. Thanks!
  16. WAT? I guess I'm a bitch for Cointreau. Love that tart. I'll have to see if I can find the Creole Shrubb up here somewhere.
  17. Brother Thelonious ale. Weirdest thing happened. Poured this first glass (de-lish) with the local NPR jazz station on. Minutes later, they play Panonica. Meant to be?
  18. Well, the three of us really had a great time. Agree that it was nice to catch up in person as opposed to being online. Al, you are very generous, and Lisa told I don't know how many people back home what a genuinely nice guy you are. Good times! I forgot the name of the drink I had at Jasper's, but I was craving it for days after. The mint leaves and bitters just set up so well togther. Damn. I had a few other cocktails in SF (and not nearly enough, really) but that one was the star. The follow-up with the UK Old Speckled Hen was just smooth and earthy. As we had skipped lunch from being out all day, this was a nice kick to late afternoon and I wandered back to crazy street (Powell) with a goofy grin. Cheers, Al! (I toast with my soda, now back at work...........*sigh*)
  19. Cool. I was hoping to snag someone who had both! Thanks for the comparison.
  20. We've got x100e's at work and they seem quite capable, although the battery bulge is a bit funny. One of those tradeoffs I guess one has to make. Neat call on the 1TB drives, Brent. I think the rig at work is the one I want to focus on, so maybe transporting a drive back and forth is an option I hadn't considered.
  21. Jazz for Cows. That's awesome.
  22. WAT? Where are you guys getting these? That rocks!
  23. Stretch, that's the coolest story I've read in a long time. And a great ending as well. I can only imagine how wonderful the '66 must be across the tongue. Cheers, man!
  24. I've heard good things about the Toshiba. Will look in to that, as well as the Lenovo (which we have for short-term use at work) and the Thinkpad. Friend of mine had an Acer Ass-pile One, and after a few months the cable connecting the bottom of the unit to the display gave out and shredded. Nice.
