Do you mean software update, or update to the NEX line? I believe the units that are shipping now have 1.01. That might be mine! A little counterclockwise rotation will do it if you ask me. Nice shot! As for you, VPI, Aloha! Nice to see someone getting away from tourist-town and exploring the natural beauty of the islands. I la maika'i nou! -
Can't they cut it around your helmet? Cool bike, Vicki. Ride your brains out! Getting some birthday things together. My dad is 81 this year and we're going to a nice dinner. In between, I'm playing my crac'kelele. Can't stop. Fingers are aching. It doesn't help that there is a Hawaiian radio show on in Seattle from noon to 2 every Saturday. Damn easy to pick up some of these tunes.

Y'know, after I wrote that I ran out to look at the cost(s) of my statement. And I found out I'm, um, not likely to get one of those any time soon. Ha. I just remember seeing some reviews of the 5N with Leica glass and just thinking how clean they looked and how sweet the color was. Oh well. But now you've reminded me that the zeiss/contax lenses should be on the audition list. Thanks. I'll go check out FredandMira. After having a decent point & shoot it'll be nice to get back to something that give me more control and lens options. Thanks for the tips! Good stuff! -

Good to hear that you like it. I keep hearing about the updates as well, but I'll treat this like a computer purchase: I know there will be a better one in the future. But I want a camera now! Seems to be mixed reviews for the kit lens but that seems common for many camera kits. I might auction off an arm or leg and get some Leica glass in the future. -

Just clicked "Complete Order" at B&H on a 5N, plus a handful of accessories. I've read (here) about the lack of Sony Emount lenses and all, but really like the form factor of the camera. At most I'd probably buy just an additional prime lens unless the kit lens is a total failure. , maybe an off-camera flash system. I'm happy to move up to a larger sensor than I had with the Fuji that I killed off a few months back. Time will tell. -
They should rename it the FryPad.

ouch! Yeah, sometimes you have to watch Amazon. They're good at keeping up on product availability, but when they default to someone like that...look out! -
Gary, Happy Birthday! Haven't seen you at meets (I haven't done many these days, either). Hope all is well!!
-
Hey hey, Happy Birthday, Al! Hope you have a great day in SFO!

The price is $1199 at B&H, but it is listed as "Pre-order. Released in limited qty." ...and they don't have in stock anyway. The shots that thing takes are quite delicious. -
Good stuff. I tried to find a way to do this without the Dremel, no dice. This is a "why didn't I think of that" technique. Excellent!

Happy Birthday! You're half way to _______________ (insert inane age joke here)
-
Ah, some original Josephs, I see. Cool. I still have my pair of RM25si from around 2000.
-
Happy Birthday! Hope it's a great one!
-
Likewise here. Happy Birthday, Nate. Looks like you had a great day, and that's what I would have hoped!
-
Nate is that you? Get well to all the others who are not well. I'm on Biaxin and two nasal sprays. Plus...PLUS a hydrocodone-based cough syrup. Wow, this stuff really puts me to sleep (it works wonders on my cough as well). Have to be careful if I need it at work because I try to counteract it with coffee, then get crazy jittery, yo. Wheeeee. At least it gets me to type fast as hell now. (note for Antonio: it's tussionex pennkinetic!) Shelly - YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Have a great day, Craig. Take some time to relax and listen to your new Metrum dac!
-
And I thought the crud was just going around up here. Looks like it's all over the US. WTF? Shelly, sorry about the water issue. We've got a plumber in the family and have heard similar stories. Geez. Those guys are trained to work quickly and cut into pretty much anything they can even think is correct. But wow, 10,000 gallons? That would cost a fortune in my stupid city.

Maybe he can grow an ear on the back of a mouse like they used to do.

Ah. I'm getting it. Depends on what you want to show, then, right? Edit: Found the L'Amp Other Edit: The D'Agostino site makes it actually sound more like a VU: "...Despite its impressive output of 300 watts per channel into 8 ohms, the Momentum draws less than 1 watt of power at idle—or about one fifth of what a typical cell phone charger might require." I dunno!

I really wanted one of those Lytros. They just seem so ridiculously cool. But there are two things that kept me from doing so. 1) They only work with Mac. 2) The effect of being able to refocus by clicking is because of the embedded software. It didn't hit me at first, but this means that dropping one of these pics on a webpage or whatever means the pic will be much larger because it has to carry it's functionality with it. But that's just me. This is still a way cool idea. I hope they can keep the momentum going and break out of the Mac. -
Quick question and likely an easy one, but it escapes me. If one were to have a power meter on the front of their amp, say, like the D'Agostino Momentum, what would it be connected to? I assume across the power supply...or would it be across the output? Thanks! Gratuitous picture for fun.

She tied her brother down with stones rickety tickety tin She tied her brother down with stones and sent him off to Davy Jones All they ever found were the bones - And occasional pieces of skin, of skin. Occasional pieces of skin. When I was younger, I thought that line had something to do with The Monkees. Oh well. Info from wikipedia: Englishman Davy Jones was a former jockey who had achieved some initial success on the musical stage (appearing with the cast of Oliver! on The Ed Sullivan Show the night of the Beatles' live American debut). Already appearing in Columbia Pictures productions and recording for the Colpix record label, he had been identified in advance as a potential star for the series. RIP, Mr. Jones.

Heh. Weird how that stuff still comes to mind after all these years.
