Went to see Raiders of the Lost Ark in IMAX. I haven't enjoyed a movie that much in years. Amazingly good. The film stood up really well and the digital transfer only suffered in a few spots. Music sounded great, dialog perfect. If you're a fan, go see it before they pull it out of IMAX.

naamanf FTW. After having built more than a few systems meself, he has it right. >>Better yet I would have a custom made box corner loaded in the trunk. Save under seat for a processor (if you go with one) and amp/s. Also could put everything in the trunk. Yes! I hesitate to suggest JLAudio, but they used to have a lot of custom corner boxes. Not sure if they are available for your particular car, but worth checking.

crappy - thanks for the tip re: Fredmiranda.com. Cool site. I'm learning a lot! Meanwhile, back in Seattle, this guy is playing Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon at Pike Place Market. Notice the throngs of listeners. NEX-5N, Minolta Rokkor-X 50/1.7 -

You might give a call to Moon Photo in Seattle. I sometimes bring rolls of 120 in from my Holga. The owner quietly laughs when I tell him that. Anyway, the proof prints are quiet amazing, so I can only imagine what a final print would look like. The basic scans (see services) are $10, enhanced are $20. I really trust this guy. -
That's not a knock-off it's a Beat-off.

DRILL PRESS!!! I need a drill press. I'd like to buy it local, not ebay or Amazon. Seems like shipping something like that would be too much. I wanted to get a Delta, but spotted a few others like Hitachi. I've heard good and bad about Craftsman, and generally good things about some at Harbor Freight. Still, I am undecided. Ideas? -

So back in 1979, I bought a JVC RC-838. This cassette player had a "biphonic equalizer" setting, along with a "wide" setting. Both were defeatable. Additionally, the player came with a demo cassette which had some biphonic recordings on it. Sitting in the sweet spot in front of this behemoth, the benefits of biphonic were pretty apparrent. It was cool. The RC-838 is long gone. I wish I still had it as I now possess the DIY skills to bring it back to life. Finding these on the used market is slim as they are listed these days as a boombox holy grail. Who knew? I'd still like to have mine back. I miss it's bulky beauty. (Holy Grail?) Edit: Just found one or two online for sale. Might be doable... At any rate, the biphopnic setting could be used together with the biphonically recorded cassette to great effect. I am wondinerg how well the new recordings would sound without the processing available. Maybe it's not necessary these days? (Thanks for the trip to the bhjazz wayback machine) Edit #2: It's all in the recording technique. Cool. I now see that the binaural "processing" was only to try to apply it to regular stereo recordings.

Hey lens-casers. I've got a 'ca 1980 Tokina F4 28-70 zoom lens from my old Minolta X570 camera. Due to it's age, however, I can see some slight mildew inside the front element. Two questions: 1) Should I get it professionally cleaned, or is this something an able DIY monkey can handle? And if it gets cleaned, would it be worth it to get an adapter so I can use it with my soon-to-return NEX-5N? Thanks! BTW Knucks: Neat shots. As someone who did a small amount of theater lighting, the name Paky does sound familiar. Those are awesome lights! -
Any recommendations on a solid value for a $500-600 dollar bottle of wine

I like Dinny's idea of a three-pack. One of which should be: Quilceda Creek Cabernet. The '03 and '08 are usually rated quite good. I had part of a bottle of the '87 a month back and once it was decanted and really aired out, it was pretty amazing. -

That first shot is a bugger. Might have benefitted from a neutral density filter? Tough call.
