Got my Okto research DAC8 delivered this week.
I will setup my full range and two channel subs with it.
Bye bye analog crossover.

Working on build a water cooling Uberamp.
Snatched a cold plate off ebay.
I'm looking for advice to mount the transistors. I dont think I should drill and tap into the cold plate.
So I have 2 option:
1: 1/8 by 1 copper plates drilled to mount on the cold plate and sandwich the transistors in between.
-----copper plate-------
-----transistors----------
-----cold plate-----------
2: mount copper plates directly on the cold plate, drill mounting holes on the copper plates, counterbore the back side (the face contacting the cold plate).
-----transistors----------
-----copper plate-------
-----cold plate-----------
Any suggestions?
Here's a planned layout:

Unfortunately for me, I have to supply [email protected]. L-Adapter looked promising but only go up to 20V.
I've ordered Smooth Like Butter Single Rail. PCB+parts+shipping will cost around $100. Hope this solves my problem.

Got my 24V assembled and running. I dont think it handles high current nicely. with 2A load @ 24v, I have about 1V drop at the output.

Not sure if this test is comprehensive, it doesnt look too good for Sparko.

going to make it a replacement for the 4 pin diode bridge, should fit in all boards with that pinout.
something like this

You should be OK, assuming you are using the right adapters (don't use the SA1349/SC33xx adapters!). There aren't really any voltages present there that would damage the JFETs, unless the Gate is wired incorrectly.
What worries me is what caused it, I simply tested the amp with 1k sine wave. I hope it's just the input jfet.
-
I think I let the magic smoke out by swapping into JFET input. Now the amp functions normally with input on + and G input, but not - and G.
Should I worry about anything else than the J109? (another pair of J109 and K389 worked perfectly)

Is there a high pass/low pass between electrostatic and dynamic? Or they are wired in parallel.

I'm intrigued, I wonder if it would be a good entry level turntable?

What is the preferred potentiometer value if I go with 2sk170/2sj74 jfets instead of the THAT chips? Still 10k?
I think somewhere in this thread said 100k

If I were to replace input BJTs with JFETs(toshiba or linear), what IDSS range should I aim for?

I need to make/buy some very short and soft (5-10cm) USB cables. Any suggestions?

Thanks very much for this.
Is Kevin's site still active? If so could you post the link? All the old links are not working for me. Thanks again.

The State of DACSES
in Home Source Components

Well, the current state of Okto Research DAC8PRO:
Firmware is broken for linux. That's disappointing.
