  1. Happy Birthday Todd!
  2. You don’t like reading threads, do you? If you had read post #21, 3 posts before yours, I think the answer is pretty clear... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Mini's are fairly easy to put drives and memory in, so don't pay a premium for any of that shit. IFixIt has a decent dual drive kit for the mini (to put an SSD and the internal HD in it), or just get an SSD for it. I have the stock 1TB HDD and a 500G Samsung Evo 850 SSD in my 2011 i7 Mini. Initially I had problems with the order I had put the drives in (HDD rattling or something, senior moment... can't remember exactly what the problem was) and had to rip it apart to swap them which ended the problem. On the 2011, 16GB is the max ram, and is what I have in mine. Very easy to change out ram in these.
  4. Happy Birthday Antonio!

  7. Anyone have an extra Alps SPUJ190900 input selector switch for a Dyna mini? Just ready to order parts and Mouser is out of them. They do have the SPUJ1901000 in stock at 4x the price; same switch with snap in terminals. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk EDIT: went ahead and ordered both just in case
  8. Search is your friend. I take it you are asking about the Stax T8000? https://www.head-case.org/forums/topic/13002-stax-srm-t8000/
  9. Never underestimate the obfuscating twats on diyaudio I asked a question regarding Kemet vs. Vishay-Polytech tantalum-polymer capacitors (since the Vishays are considerably cheaper and appear to be functionally identical), and get this: Well, maybe, but given the thousands used in the automotive and consumer electronics areas, 8 of these isn't going to make a dent. So I replied with this: Perhaps just answer the fucking question? That forum drives me up a tree, but there are SOME very good an knowledgeable posters there. In their defence, I had provided the wrong Vishay part number. I'll see what happens when they wake up... And both Kemet and Vishay say that they source materials in a sustainable and conflict-free fashion. With Kemet, I can believe that. Vishay, being the sluts that they are, will say anything... kinda like the orange turd in the WH.
  10. Yes, get well Michael! You'll get back to it sooner or later, and no one expects you to do the prototyping until you feel up to it.

    Belleson?

Anyone know anything about these? How would these compare to Amb's regs, or even the micro GRLV? Someone asked me about them. I'm normally very leery of the shit that Partsconnexion sells (Bybee? Burson? etc.). https://www.partsconnexion.com/BELLSPX17-85570.html https://www.partsconnexion.com/BELLSPX79-85599.html

  18. Thanks guys! Michael: So for a complete supply (universal), I would need to use both the 1st and 3rd boards, plus a GRLV if desired instead of the 7815/7915 onboard? This would give me B+ (+400V), B- (-400V), Bias (+580V) and the +/-15V? For AC heaters, do you just take the AC volts right off the transformer windings? Or do most people offset this by a certain voltage (can't remember what that is called, but they have it riding on a +/- DC voltage IIRC). And does anyone have an actual full schematic for these? goldenreferencehvsic-2.pdf
  19. As I may have mentioned, I am going to be building a Carbon for another user, and he would like to do a universal PSU that could work for the Carbon, a GG, and I don't know what else. These are the GRHV boards he sent me and I'm trying to make sense of them and what I would need for the UPSU. I will also be using a GRLV for the LV. Also, for heaters, I presume the F+/F- are for that? 12V heaters I presume? Thanks for any enlightenment! PS: with the complexity and all the varieties of these (Fat? Skinny? Dual?), there really should be a separate thread for the GRHV and all of its variants. I recall reading this thread (and wherever else they are discussed) and thinking to myself "God, I'm glad I'm not wading into that cluster...". Famous last words...
  20. Agreed on the heat (full size vs. mini). I really don't view the MPSWs as being a problem though. Rough install... if I do this, I will attempt to get everything aligned all nice and purdy... I don't know for sure, but in my current estimation, the minis I've built sound better than the full size My full size is running at 17-18mA bias. Perhaps I've gone too far?
  21. Those guys are kinda interesting... may have to listen to more. And yes, I found the lyrics quite appropriate these days.
  22. You're a beast Nate... not sure I could avg. 15mph for that right now. I'm not worthy!
  23. Thinking about doing something possibly daft, and just wanted to float it out there. I am going to build myself a mini, and since I have plenty of MPSW06/56, was thinking about using these instead of the PZTAs for the outputs, mainly to look at the thermal characteristics compared to the hot running PZTAs. I know the pin-out is different, but I did a feasibility check with one with a touch of teflon tubing and found it is quite doable. Pain in the ass, but doable. Head-case? Anti-Head-case? So daft you don't know what to say?
