Who's the dude that is a metrologist over on head-fi? I thought he said to stay away from the Fluke 17x series and go for the 18x series instead... dammit, can't remember his name (handle). bigcat39 is the one. But, $135 isn't a bad price I wouldn't think (haven't priced them lately though).

No, that was coco-treating... different. A friend told me that he heard from someone that if you do the dynamat mod, it takes like 47 man-years for burn in or something like that. I'd let em go 50 before listening, just to be safe tho...

How about the non-responsiveness to any technical questions (from what I have read)? I find that disturbing... not that I would be a likely customer anyhow, but still.

Just watched a marathon of the first 3-4 episodes of this the other night... not bad. About a HS chem teacher (played by the guy who was the dad on Malcolm in the Middle) who is diagnosed with terminal cancer, and decides to make meth to provide for his family when he's gone.

Just wait for the poll Wayne's reply was a good one... the OP seems to be contemplating it
-
Yep. Never met him, but I've always enjoyed meet pics, stories, etc. when he's been there. I'd like to have a few beers with this guy... hehe.

x2 on the Panavise. Check ebay. Strippers (loaded ?) Ideal T-strippers... great. Home Depot carries some of these... get the ones that go from 22-30ga. They also have a set from 14 or so up to 22 maybe. Teflon, no problem with these. Drill press. Lowes used to have a 10" Delta for around $100 that is nice. If you make PCBs, carbide indexed drill bits like these. Don't use them without the drill press above, however. x2 on the head magnifier. Optivisors (like you see the jeweler's wearing) work really well.

Correct for the 8 outlet models. Zerosurge makes the Brickwall units. I haven't priced them lately, so I don't know who has the better deal.

Incoming isolation isn't a problem (could actually be good)... I'll have to hope I run across some of these to listen to sometime. I like the K271s but their tonal balance is a bit off for me, and I would like more bass. Maybe breaking down and buying the velour pads will change them...
-
Hmm, I would love to listen to a pair of these sometime, as I need a set of isolating phones for work. How would you compare these to AKG K-271s, which is what I currently use? I do use a dynalo at work also, so amp required is fine. Also, I've never tried any IEMs, so maybe that would be a better route...

Yes, I'd noticed that Theil doesn't do this. Of course, from the sounds of it, driver manufacturers are the ones that do this to get a supposed flatter upper end response. Since Thiel makes their own drivers (from the website), they only have to impress their listeners
-
I don't mean to thread crap the Thiel-centric thing, I'm only asking this here because there appears to be several knowledgeable speaker peeps here. Do any of you have an opinion on this. Looking at the Thiel website, this doesn't appear to be an issue with Thiels, but may be with other speakers...

Hehe, nice pussy cat. No, really, she's a very cute cat.

Starting to sound like a self-affirmation group... Kinda like head-fi Actually, I like this place alot, and have more problems spending time over there much, other than for train wrecks (that VD cable one keeps getting better, like OMG ). The DIY section is not of much interest anymore (main reason I went there to begin with). One user over there has the username of feckn_eejit which has always cracked me up, as it could (and should) be used for a multitude of users any given day (including me, I suppose).

French: rape (with symbol above the "a") 1. rasp 2. grater http://translate.google.com/translate_dict?q=rape&hl=en&langpair=fr%7Cen

Welcome! Yeah, I guess introducing yourself is a good thing around here... right before you put up the FS ad....

I have the same problem with my DIY Dynalo when used as a preamp. It uses the Neutrik switched jack, and since I leave my power amp on all the time, there is some bleed thru when I plug phones in. Since I don't normally use this as my preamp, I haven't gone in and figured out why (and of course fixed it )... my guess is some crosstalk. Why yours would work fine and then start doing it is
-
Capacitors cannot add to the sound... in fact, caps are the furthest away from their ideal electrical model of any component I can think of, especially electrolytics (BlackGate, Muse, Elnas, etc.). There is a reason that KG designs most of his amps DC-coupled.

I guess we'll just have to disagree on that. The Giants looked somewhat inept on offense (blown routes, Eli focusing on certain receivers too much and missing others wide open). The Giants defense and pass rush however had far more to do with the Pats offense looking inept. When they didn't get to Brady, he was hitting things pretty well. I just like to see Super Bowls that aren't the over-hyped blow out that often occurs.
-
Yeah, that was a good game. I was rooting for NY and thought they had a chance going into it. Particularly if Eli doesn't fold and throw a pick in the 4th qtr, which he didn't. I thought they had lost it when he scrambled and somehow got out of there, then threw the completion that the receiver somehow managed to catch...

Inexpensive, but decent, CD transport with AES/EBU
Pars replied to philodox's topic in Home Source Components
The AES/EBU inputs/outputs on the DEQ also do S/PDIF... all you should need is a suitable cable (XLR on the DEQ end). I never tried these myself however. See manual pages 7 (item 17) and 13 under the I/O menu section for how to switch from AES/EBU to S/PDIF. You could probably try it with one of the SE-XLR adapters and a digital (RCA) cable also. -
Yeah, I know you weren't fishing for buyers and wasn't accusing you of that whatsoever. And what's wrong with a 21 lb. bike? Dammit, it is pretty much the right size... oh yeah, it has ShimaNO on it, that's the ticket I'm an old road bike dude, just don't ride a lot anymore, being north of ermm, err, a big age. Just kinda curious if I wanted to get out of friction shift or not
-
Well, we'll start off with elimination first (like I need another road bike)... what size is it?

You mean like Rudistors and Singlepowers and ECs are cheap? Not to mention RSAs?
