  1. x n+1! What a great pic! And do I spot a couple of pairs of Music Posts on the back of that thing?

    Edition 8

But you would welcome him pushing Rudistor?
  3. I have our Canon plugged into the Linksys router via Ethernet. I can scan, print etc. all over the house wirelessly. So, yes, you should be able to use the Ethernet connection if it can plug into a router.
  4. It's pretty hard to go wrong with a laser if you can find one that fits your budget. Glad you found something you like! When I bought the Canon, I couldn't find a laser cheap enough, since like you, we needed color for the kids particularly. Still on my first set of cartridges also.
  5. Damn, that sucks Deepak. I hope you get your power back sooner than predicted!
  6. I bought a Canon MP970 a few months ago (with a rebate, but can't recall how much it was, probably ~$150) that I have been very pleased with. Had a couple or three Epsons before this that just sucked.
  7. Looking back at the posts, from 12/10 6:20pm until yesterday, 12:00 something pm when Sherwood came to your defense, I don't see anything that could be construed as being an attack on you. Actually, almost all of what occurred until you went ballistic also could not be construed as an attack on you. Difference of opinion, yeah.

    Don't miss out.

OK..... yeah, that's nice... looks good on those phones though.
  9. Yes, I know the feeling (just not recently)
  10. Holy shit! Merry Christmas!
  11. This a new one Pete? Ooohhh, break-in Klaus is fun to talk to, is he not? And you are getting a really good solid product, particularly for the price. When you get it, I would guess you will have a hard time figuring out how they sell these this cheap, as they are built very well.
  12. Sorry to hear about your troubles Nate. I'm hoping for the best for you (and your pipes... etc.). Chris
  13. Are there multiple umbilicals on this or just one? Even with multiple cables, Amp makes many different connectors, so it would be quite possible to use different ones for each cable to make it impossible to do it wrong. A little thought into the cable wiring (pin 1 to pin 1 on each end, etc.) will also make it immune to putting the cable in in the wrong direction. Little things like that. Little things that I would expect in a $1000 ANY amp.

    Perfect pitch

If he's not musically trained, he won't know what an A major or minor or whatever chord is. So of course not. That doesn't mean that he could not have perfect pitch however.

    Perfect pitch

My mom has perfect pitch, and it does annoy her at times (she is a musician). She can tell you what pitch it is (A, B-flat, etc.) and also approximately how sharp or flat it is. Neither my twin brother or I have it, but we are/were both musicians as well. I have very good relative pitch, but apparently that can be learned.

    Hum Issue

Sounds like you need to do a Lucas fuse mod; specifically the 1482A slow blow one... You get that thing running in the 3A fuse blow mode, its gotta sound way moar better, right?
  17. Odyssey uses a licensed design from the German Symphonic Line brand. Klauss Bunge (the principal and designer, etc.) of Odyssey is German and appears to have a close working relationship with Symphonic Line. I don't pretend to be an audio reviewer, but I would characterize the sound as leaning towards warm (plenty of detail, just not cold). Odyssey Audio Stratos Reviews
  18. Odyssey Stratos should be doable for under $700; check Audiogon and ebay. You should be able to get the balance of the 20 year warranty. I've had mine for 5 years at least. One of these has survived Reks for a few months so far, minus a blown fuse incident...
  19. Yes. A no brainer to put it in.
  20. Those look nice Smeggy. I'd like to hear some orthos sometime.
  21. Balanced uses essentially a 4-channel amplifier to deliver stereo. Each driver is sent a non-inverted signal (L/R +) and an inverted signal (L/R -) for a push-pull of the audio signal. The cabling or more importantly the connectors are not really standardized, though I would guess that Headroom has done the most in this area. Common connectors are a pair of 3-pin XLRs (1 per channel), or a 4-pin XLR. Less common would be (2) 1/4" TRS plugs. Most people do something like recable (or reterminate if the cans already have 4 wires) with a pair of 3-pin XLRs, and then build adapters like a pair of female 3-pin XLRs to a single 4-pin XLR in order to ensure compatibility.
  22. 650s on late romantic symphonic (Mahler, etc.) just blow. Balanced out of a Dynahi even. Meh. This impression from a meet, but I listened multiple times (source SCD-1) and my opinion didn't change.
  23. Counterpoint SA3000 (2 of them; tube, good phono stage) AudiogoN ForSale: Counterpoint SA-3000 Forte F-44 (SS; think Threshold; has remote) http://www.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?preatran&1232243569&/Forte-F-44- Coda (SS; no remote; also think Threshold) AudiogoN ForSale: Coda FET Preamplifier 02 Audible Illusions 2B (tube, no remote, asking too much) AudiogoN ForSale: Audible Illusions Modulus 2B
  24. Well, you can start with the Test the amp section of Step-by-Step Assembly Guide. Also, I hope you did the Test the power supply portion of this as well. Given the state of the ground opamp, did you use C6? Also, measure the DC offset between IG and OG... should be 0mV or very close. If so, then check the L and R DC offset (L -> OG and R -> OG). Also sounds like you may have the LED In backwards as well. And I didn't quite get what you meant by this:
  25. No shit. Same here, though we just have TV and internet service thru them. I found out the jackasses had us wired out at the box on a splitter off a port; musta done that when they added a neighbor and had run out of line ports. Not sure if they have fixed it despite promising to several times. Calling them about every 6 months has proven effective though, with dropped hints of Dish Net, etc. We got internet (std. speed, not the intro) for $20 a month for 6 months and they dropped the TV price also. Can;t get DSL (in a burb of Chicago!) as we are too far from the CO, and that would be AT&T anyhow
