  1. I don't know what kind of jack this uses, but yes, you should definitely feel resistance as you insert the plug into the jack. On normal Neutrik switched jacks, when the plug is inserted, it lifts contacts off of the switched set of contacts used for preamp or whatever, thereby taking them out of the circuit. The fact that the pre outs still work would indicate that the plug is not disconnecting these. I would think it should be an easy fix.
  2. Seems like they put Terminator in the Friday slot preceding Dollhouse when it was intro'd. Didn't do anything for Terminator (other than ensuring it got cancelled), and almost took out Dollhouse as well. I know Terminator was expensive, but it does suck that it got cancelled, particularly with the other really mediocre shit that is on.
  3. I'm guessing most of the diff you are hearing between the D1 and this is due to the output stage. I wouldn't personally bother with opamps (other than maybe an OPA861 transconductance stage), but would go for a discrete stage. Zapfilter would be the easiest, though probably not the best. If you do decide to go the Burson route, I would probably do one of the Audio Gd ones, as I suspect that they actually make the Bursons, and theirs are more reasonably priced. Note that for I/V duty, a discrete opamp << a discrete zero feedback I/V stage.
  4. Thanks for the wishes all! I had a nice day.
  5. I was still under the impression that few do spdif termination correctly, even now. I would agree that Empirical products aren't what I would call a good value
  6. Yep. Hang in there and things will get better every day. My thoughts are with you and your family as well.
  7. Sorry to hear that. My condolences as well to you and your family.
  8. Cool. Now just renew Sarah Connor, the Unit, uhh... what else? The Shield? Oh sorry, not gonna happen on that one.
  9. Damn, you weren't fucking around when you said you were getting back into DIY! Sweet!
  10. Like Jude would say otherwise?
  11. I was trying to think of things I needed from Newark after you posted the coupon. The HLMP-D150 I recognized (dyna something). Neon lamps? Those could be interesting. Didn't realize Newark carried Caddock... will have to see what they have in the TF020 series (IIRC). 25% off those could be tempting
  12. Oh come on, that website was screaming "you know you want to trust us..."
  13. Happy Birthday!
  14. x2 or more. Totally self-absorbed bullshit from my perspective. And useless.
  15. Another product line that might be of interest: THERM-A-GAP 600 Series Gap Fillers I have some tubes of this at work (T644; not sure where they came from and what we used this for, and they are expired).
  16. Apparently the Crystal chips (discontinued) were much better sounding than the PGA23xx series, partially (or mainly) because the PGA series has a built in opamp which is essentially an OPA2132/4. I had a Coda preamp with a PCA2310 (IIRC) in it, and I thought a TKD pot was more transparent.
  17. Hmmm. I have 271S at work amped with a Gilmore Dynalo. While not bad amped, something better would be nice as long as it wasn't too pricey. The ATH ESW9 sounds interesting, so I did a google on it and ran across this: Audio Technica ATH ESW9 wood headphones earphones At that price, that has to be a scam I would think? Or are these guys legit? Paypal only (so not alot of buyer protection).
  18. Yeah that is normal behavior... for a pot that has DC on it. Not good.
  19. Happy Birthday Ari!
  20. These look kind of interesting... enough so that I ordered the sampler kit. CD Storage & DVD Storage: Furniture Media Solutions by Flipworks
  21. Happy Birthday!
  22. Gawd, no shit. Happy Birthday!
  23. A guilty pleasure; something I've always liked but never bought anything from:
