I did a schematic first and used that to generate the board... only way to do it IMO. Fortunately, it will import Eagle libraries (when exported in the correct format), which helps alot. I was having a hard time figuring out how to do my own in Diptrace, and since I can't use it at home (PC only), my time is limited.

How do you autoroute one at a time? Also, is there an easy way to set default trace width? It seems to default to a pretty small trace. I did figure out how to set the width for an entire net, but would like to also default tos omething larger.

Question regarding Diptrace. I decided to try this because I was laying out a board that was way outside of Eagle's capabilities (free version). This is a vertical backplane board housing 6 pairs of XLRs and 6 pairs of RCAs, some relays, etc. Do you guys trust the autorouter? I manually placed the jacks on 1: x and 1.5: y grid, and locked them. I then manually placed the relays in the best spot (I think), locked them, then let it place the rest of the components. I adjusted some net trace widths, but let it autoroute. Seemed OK once I did a few tweaks to it, but just wanted to get some input, as I normally wouldn't trust an autorouter in a non-commercial package.

Hope it gets feeling better Nate. Don't hesitate going to an orthopedics doctor if it doesn't get better on its own. Sorry about the sucky weather as well

Happy Birthday Naaman!

Didn't know where to put this... I bumped the set of Ultralink locking bananas I had for sale on HF (and here). I got a pm asking me if these would work for a K1000 pigtail, which I assume is a cable to connect them to speaker terminals? As long as the binding posts accept banans, I would assume so, but thought I would ask.

From what I have heard regarding buying that 2.7 out from under filburt, that to me is unforgiveable. Interesting way of putting it, but he defined his "stigma" by his own actions.

Good man! A heartfelt thanks Nate! I really don't need to be reading that kind of crap here

Same, though my mac at home may be 1280x1024. Last post button... oh. Just a question though... what is the usefulness of an attachments icon and a deleted posts icon?
-
Not sure if this has been brought up, but the little attachment and deleted posts icons are covering up the last page icon on some threads when I do "New posts". Makes it a pita to try to get to the last page. This happens on both my Mac and my windoze box at work, both on firefox.

x2, though mine is more like this one, but orange: - Harbor Freight Tools - Quality Tools at the Lowest Prices Wouldn't mind having one of those U-shaped deflectors for it, but it works fine.. a hell of a lot better than the hair drier I would grab before

WD-40 is mainly kerosene IIRC. I wouldn't use if for something like this. Caig DeOxit or Progold is what I would use, as already mentioned. -
Happy Birthday... ehhh, back. Take it easy... I know how you feel. I've never really had back problems, but made the mistake of moving a grand piano when we were re-carpeting. Wound up getting lower back spasms for a couple of days (which really sucked), but they went away. Best of luck getting rid of yours.

Thanks, but I'll just order them. I had meant to order 100 of the 10Ks and probably 20 or so of the 3 (or 3.01)Ks. I wanted to stick with the KOA RK73s (with their pretty blue color ), but might order a few Rohms from Digikey with the 1st class shipping to get by. Haven't found anything else yet that I forgot... the packing list was 7-8 pages long.

Big order from Mouser arrived Tuesday. After the amount of checking I did in preparing it, I thought this might be the first time I did an order and didn't forget something... Right In my spreadsheet, I had forgotten to change the PN for 100ohm RK73 1206 resistors to 10K, so I wound up with (200) 100 ohm (and of course 0 10K ohm... funny how that works) I had also for some reason pasted the PN for a 10V reference in what should have been 3K ohm RK73 1206 resistors... I didn't end up with t0o many refs though. Not sure why. Guess I'll have to place an order for two values of SMD resistors, unless I find anything else I screwed up.

Happy Birthday Colin!

I'd agree with Al, and with the John Swenson quote (I assume that was him as John S?). Get rid of the switch. Simplify and isolate the variables.

Interesting. I'll have to play around with one again sometime and see if my observations change (been a couple of years). I don't remember how much difference there was between the two Elpacs (both WM071-1950s), but changing from one to the other I needed to adjust the offset. I don't remember whether the servos could handle the change or not, though I'm usually pretty anal about offset so may have been testing with the servo opamps out.
-
Dunno Marc, just my observations in setting up a board with two different Elpacs (with differing rail deltas), or powering one from a bench supply and changing the output voltages. Curious as to your test jig?
-
Lets see... you have the service manual (and we don't), and you are asking us to somehow discern wtf IC731 is? If its upgradeable, it must be some sort of flash memory or something. Do I win?
-
Remember that this is a DC coupled design, and the servos can only deal with about 50mV of offset. DC offset is dependent upon power rail balnce aomong other things. Granted, once the offset is adjusted for a particular PSU rail delta, it should be stable. Since I build my own stuff, I'll take a sigma22 FTW. The ones I've built I have tweaked the neg. rail resistor values to get the delta within 10mV or so.

Since they don't have an online parts catalog, service manuals, etc. its pretty hard to determine. If they said that is what you need, feel lucky that it is only $83 and order it (it you think you can replace it yourself). While you had them on the phone, you should have asked about a service manual for this. Or are you going to have them repair it?
