I've been listening to a loaner pair of Rev. 1s on both my Dynalo and Dynahi (SE) and really like them. No, they're not perfect, and I have very limited listening experience with electrostats, but I could live with these. I don't notice that much difference between the Dynalo and Dynahi, but the Dynahi is still kinda breadboarded and isn't using the TKD pot I have for it.

No, I was seriously considering it, but given the board size (12" x 18") and the amount of connectors, wires, etc. that would need to be shielded from heat, I don't think it is plausible. It is a lead-free (RoHS) board, but I'm sure there are other sources of outgassing, etc. that I am not aware of which raised your concern. Plus we have a pretty nice stove which I wouldn't want to mess up. Since I have the system running, I can take my time and see what we have here at work, etc. Or just leave it broken.

Put a new (via epay) logic board in the Powermac G5 and got it running, hopefully for quite some time. Found the service manual and the Apple System Diagnostics disc online, so was able to run the required thermal calibration myself, instead of bothering the Apple store. Turns out it wasn't the DIMM sockets, but the memory controller IC, which is a BGA package. Oh fun. It is mounted on the back of the board, and the heatgun was heating it up to get it to work temporarily. If anyone wants to school me on BGAs, feel free. I may try to fix the original board if I can get access to some shit at work. Was thinking about doing a reflow in the oven at home, ala some of the XBox or PS3 fixes you may have run across, but there is a lot of stuff that would need to be protected from the heat. Plus the no-clean Kester 951 flux I got is flammable. That and a gas oven made me pause a bit... honey, do you mind if I cook a board in the oven? Oh yeah, it may start on fire

Anyone have a PCB mount SATA connector (through-hole, 7 pin vertical) or suggestions where I might be able to find one locally (Chicago)? Got a motherboard with a broken one. Something like this:

They are a small manufacturer, so it would not surprise me if they change now and then a bit. By how much lower do these measure? Within the 1% tolerance? If you are uncomfortable with them, make them replace them. Particularly if they are out of tolerance, though meter calibration would come into play there.

I haven't tried their chapstick (usually use Carmex if I need any), but have been using Nivea's products for awhile. Their shaving cream and a facewash. Good stuff from this company.

Was just poking around TentLabs site (hadn't been there for awhile) and noticed that the tube output stage he uses for his DIY CD player claims an input impedance of sub 1 ohm. http://www.tentlabs.com/Components/page4/page4.html The IV converter uses an E88CC valve as transimpedance amplifier. It fully operates in the current domain, and is a new and novel design. The advantage over existing tube based output stage is the low input impedance (typically well below 1 ohm) which reduces the distortion generated in the DAC chips compared to the situation when these are loaded with say 100 ohm, which seems common practice these days. After the E88CC stage, a passive filter follows. The actual IV conversion takes place using an Audio Note tantalum resistor, signal coupling is achieved using Audio Note copper foil paper-in-oil capacitors. 2 pairs of outputs are available, a straight output with a moderate 2.5 k-ohm output impedance, and a buffered one with output impedance well below 200 ohms. The IV stage is fed by a custom made toroidal transformer, the well regarded 6X4 takes care of high voltage rectification.
