  1. ^ Roads. There is a reason they built them originally, and still do to this day. Hope that helps

I know I'm in the minority here, but I don't see that he really did anything with it (other than one lyric change). This always had the feel to me of going thru the motions for a CD to make some bux... As much as I respect Johnny Cash, it just never did anything for me.

Enjoyed the Zep tribute Jim, though I thought the strings etc. were a bit over the top, but fitting I guess for the concert. Overall, I thought Heart did a very good cover though. I'll have to see about seeing more of that concert. Maybe its just me, but I far prefer NIN's original Hurt to the Johnny Cash version.
  5. Commuted twice (35) and a quick 6 in during the week, then 28 today, so close to 70 for the week. Weather is spotty rain here. I was also going to commute on Tuesday, but afternoon rain forecast staved me off. I'm not worried about getting wet, but rather being seen by cars, so trying to avoid if I can. Need to get up to commuting 3x a week though. And getting out after work at least once for 20+. Funny thing about using a backpack... for some reason it feels way heavier going home than going to work, even though it has pretty much the same content both ways
  6. x2.... guess the emo kids hang on twitter

    The Killing

Did any of you watch this, or were you mesmerized by GOT? I enjoyed it, though I really like the series, and wasn't one of those pissed off when the Rosie Larson case wasn't solved in the 1st season.
  10. I haven't read the books, but rather shocking, though I suppose fitting...
  11. BTW, I had considered doing the Chicago TDC, but didn't have time to get ready for it this year (it is next Sunday). I'll try to do it next year. When looking at the site and considering registering, do you have to have diabetes to become a Red Rider?
  12. Great job Jeff!
  13. Have a good ride Jeff! Comfort trumps weight easily. What distance are you doing or planning on?
  14. Yes, lets get the Wings looking ahead to the next series...
  15. Yeah, but can't those guys put out 300+ watts... for an hour straight? I can do 300 watts or so... for maybe 30 seconds
  16. Happy Birthday!

  21. Got 2 commutes in last week, did 20 miles another night, and went out for a short one last night which was cut short when it started pouring rain, but managed 60+ miles this week. Won't ride today. On my Monday commute home, I sensed something amiss with my backpack and reached back to find it had come open. Stopped and packed it back up. Further along I started thinking about my glasses/lens case. Sure enough when I got home, it was missing. Went back (car) along my route and found it, fortunately on a sidewalk instead of in a road. Lesson: don't leave the zippers together at the top, but at the bottom on one side . The commute route is kind of interesting. The big problem here are some railroad tracks that bisect N to S that I need to get across. Only major roads cross them (these are the tracks used for Metra, etc.) and those roads have little to no provision for riding on or next to them. I finally realized I could cut thru the Rt. 59 train station and use the tunnel under the tracks. Depending on time, this tunnel may have quite a few commuters walking thru it, so I usually have to walk the bike. Most of the drivers have been courteous so far.
  22. Thanks all! Had a good day, took off early from work and rode 20 miles, then sat out on the deck for recovery beer(s)
  23. ^ Yeowwww!
  24. Happy belated!
  25. If you haven't already, I would run thru the fit calculator on Competitive Cyclist. Have your wife take your measurements (3 times), and take a look at the recommendations (with a grain of salt). I personally use the Eddy fit as a base guideline, and am working with an existing frame. I would not do the competitive fit with its large drop and to me small frame size to achieve that. The French fit might also work well for you at this point with a more relaxed basis. Did 27 miles last Tuesday, haven't ridden at all since then until my commute this morning. Will commute again tomorrow, and maybe one more time this week, as well as try to get out one night this week also.
