  1. an isolation transformer might be your Sancho Panza, before you set out on this Odyssey. Chances are, you might move a fair bit closer to him upstairs, getting a bit too excited by accident ...
  2. as the BHSE is rarely found in the classifieds and suddenly having almost ten available (I guess that is more than one), you might even be able to choose a yummi color too
  3. I guess this will make a lot of potential buyers of the BHSE very happy, as they might be getting a bargain when all those real Carbon owners soon will dump their BHSE in the classifieds
  4. for what it is worth I did a a few observations in rgrds to different tubes in my Blue Hawaii before I change the CSS in the output for a T2 style CSS.. I have three sets of matched quads EL34's: 1 new set of Harmonix's and two NOS Mullard xf2 db getter brown base There are quite a substantial difference between the Harmonix and Mullards to my ears, whereas I definetely prefere the latter. As I recall the amp behaved very differently looking at the scope. At 1 and 5kHz squarewaves at various levels, the Harmonix seemed to behave less optimal and seemed to introduce more phase shift in comparison to the Mullards. Especially at high volume levels the Harmonix seems to loose their breath quite quickly. As mentioned these are only brief observations but seems to support the observations from a lot of other people, @mulveling, @arnaud, @purk among others.
  5. So how does the Carbon v5 (or v6 for that matter) boards differ from your V6.0 "production" version, apart from yours is a bit smaller and have extensive ground plane?
  6. @velvetx the 'TrueFlow' invention (apparently a rip off of some work done by ZGLISZCZ at head-fi) is likely too small in dimension to significantly impact/alter the sound. I read Tyll's impression of the Audeze's fazor/non-fazor and Tyll characterize the difference as "modest" and although Tyll uses the term "improvement" I guess "difference" is the proper word here. In rgrds to the Ether E - sad that he haven't had more luck on his first attempt - maybe more time invested in creating the driver rather than spending time re-inventing the wheel in terms of a 'special e-stat plug' and color schemes would be more fruitful
  7. Fair enough - but it does give the impression that the Ether and Ether TrueBlow doesn't sound significantly different though
  8. A few month back you reported the Ether to sound thin with fantastic bass, but not as balanced as the HD800S - and you felt it should cost 995USD. Now, you've heard the Ether "TrueBlow" and report great balance overall and still feel the need for a direct comparison Ether to Ether "TrueBlow", and fell 1200USD is the right price. did you just change your mind along the way?
  9. Nothing stupid about that at all and you didn't spend my time. I saw something similar a while ago, and spend some time tracking that down as well. Components "allmost working" can be rather time consuming and cause chasing a lot of red herrings
  10. you might check your low voltage ... have the CT been connected correctly?
  11. Nothing to do with the servo being enabled or not. They all swing towards B+ at power up/down.
  12. you might experience the same from a simple Refresh ...
  13. I agree it looks like 5V refs ...but how should that result in 120V output?
  14. Back ordered relays arrived today. Final packages will go out later today. /S
  15. I guess Arnuad is pointing to an associate of Dewey, Cheatem & Howe specializing in stirred fertilizers as for the 007, those shouldn't be shaken
  16. for those who have the first output board and needs to 'convert' to the latest corrections Kevin did
  17. sorry ....not Robbin Ford but rather Steve Lukather at No Substitutions ... but Larry holds, also the old Crusader album, Those Southern Knights ....another Larry than the one who bend over during the "Four Play" albums ;o)
  18. you might enjoy "No Substitution" with the same gentlemen, or "Last Nite" although 'only' Larry and his 335
  19. Yep...had it running for a few weeks in a Carbon before blessing it with some plates ;o)
  20. a step in the opposite direction ...
  21. and how would that be the case comparing a mki to a new mkii?
  22. The differens might be due to the pads/spring rather than the driver then ...
  23. Did you try to exchange the pads mki <-> mkii ?
  24. Happy fiddlers day old chap ;o)
