I happen to see this this last week at my local audio dealer and a beautiful unit it is. He did not have it setup on the high end side of the store...but it did sound good from the speakers I heard it out of.

I went into an audio show room yesterday that had some very high end speakers and setups. I listened well and was duly impressed. I was listening for that fabled soundstage that comes with any speaker setup, for positioning, etc. On leaving, the proprietor handed me a copy of a test CD that he had made up that we were listening too. I took it home and proceeded listening to my KGSS and SR-007MkII. From this I now have a new appreciation for my KGSS and SR-007MkII. It really has a great sound, much like a 20,000$ speaker setup. The only thing the headphone setup can't do is move the floor but other than that the SR-007MkII is nothing short of amazing to me.

Relative Importance of Power Cable/Power Conditioner?

Brickwall or Zerosurge are very good for the price. Primarily surge protection devices that do very good power conditioning on the way to doing their primary job. -
Official Head-Case Audio Confessional (post your (audio)sins here)

Forgive me, for I own and still enjoy my Ultrasone Edition 9...knowing it is a sin against the community that lives here. Forgive me, for I not only own one by two of the Lavry DA10s...knowing again the sin against this community which this seems to be. But penitence was made by buying a Headamp KGSS amp and other Stax equipment. Forgiveness may never be allowed for these sins I know, but I can only hope. -
There is not much to look at, it is very utilitarian. There are four small LED lights that show status and on the side opposite, a clean flat side. On one edge is a volume knob and the usb port and gain switch. You turn it on and off by plugging in the headphone and unplugging it. These is just not much to see...note that it is only a little longer than the Fuse itself and the Fuse is tiny.

For me it sounds very good and enjoyable when I am out and about. Like when I am in the car waiting for my wife when she is shopping somewhere or when I am at work. The headphone is compromised a bit by the Fuse and Icon Mobile compared with my home amps but for what I am after when I out this is great. I have Velcro tabs between the Fuse and amp along with the band. The space allows the cable to wrap nicely out of the way. It is very tight the way I have it configured. Before the Nuforce Icon Mobile came in that is exactly what I used when I was out and about with but once I placed the amp into the mix it quickly demonstrated that it was in the right place. Intriguing is the right word here. That is exactly why I placed that image in the post to show just how small this combo is and it fits nicely into a shirt pocket or into my pants pocket when needed.

How has your rig changed in 2008? And do you have any plans for 2009?
slwiser replied to postjack's topic in Miscellaneous
I don't remember exactly what I had at the beginning of the year but I have changed my system extensively and dramatically. Before I was only using dynamic headphones and now I have the electrostatic amp KGSS and a Stax SRM-T1S with the SR-007 MkII and SR-0404 headphones. I still have one Yamamoto HA-02 amp and the Ultrasone Edition 9 headphone for my dynamic setup. My portable/transportable setup has moved onto the the ESW10JPN and Mobile Icon with a Sansa Fuse. I also now have a netbook that I run my FLAC files out of the Dell Mini 9 using a out board hard drive, a Passport 320 gig unit. I still have my iMod and iBasso Boa that is use with the ESW9. I sold a Xin Reference to get an iQube and then sold it. I got a UE Triple.Fi and sold it. I started my Stax march early in March with a Friz modified amp and SRX-001 and sold them. I also purchase a SRM-001 MkIII Pro and sold it as well as a SR-Gamma. During this period I purchase a Nuforce Icon and a Stax SRD-7 Pro and from this I learn that I enjoyed the sound of the direct amplification of the Stax headphone over the Stax transformer units. I also learned that the Stax system is very synergy orient in that some of the Stax headphones that I had performed better with the transformer than a Stax amp. The Gamma performed better with the SRM-001 and the SRX-001 to me did better with the SRD-7/Icon. BTW, I still have my two Lavry DA10s that I really enjoy as having a very balanced/neutral presentation allowing the amp and headphones to provide the color that I may desire. So my journey is continuing, hopefully at a slower pace this next year. All the changes that I have made this year may reflect my health changes since I had quadruple bypass surgery in Feb. I am so much better today than I was just a year ago. I did not suffer a heart attack but a year ago I could hardly walk 100 feet without getting out of air. Today I am back into an exercise program that I had at least 20 years ago, feeling much better and after having lost so far about 80 lbs with still more to go before I finish. -
It has been over a year since an update from me and my exploration of Stax: Stax SR-007 MkII > Ultrasone Edition 9 > ATH-ESW10JPN >> ATH-W5000 > Stax SRX-1 > Stax SR-Gamma > ATH-ESW9 > Proline 2500 >> UE Triple Fi > W1000 > A900LTD >> ANC7 > ER4 > DT880 >>> HD495 > HP890 Tiers would be broken by multiple ">" and Stax ranking depends greatly on the right amplification.

The ESW10JPN is brighter, more clarity, than the ESW9 with the ESW9 being warmer in sound. Amps to make a difference in how each sounds though. Synergy here is very important. The ESW10JPN can sound slightly different with different amps while the ESW9 sounds more constant in my opinion. One could say the ESW10 scales more than the ESW9.

I can fit a iMod inside with it with a small amp. Does this help? The iMod goes in first then the amp on top of it. The amp being smaller than the iMod.

For a view of the size of the Fuse with the Icon Mobile together. I have two small patches of velcro between them as well. Fuse is configured with a 16 gig microSD for a total of 24 gigs of storage. I have converted about 3000 FLAC files to Extreme VBR MP3 for my pleasure... This is my latest portable configuration.

The HagUSB is a real nice unit. You can get it either with RCA or XLR out into an outboard DAC. I now have the XLR unit and had the RCA. -

Welcome to The Patriot Post This site has lots of good information about current affairs. And who wants to argue with being patriotic?

Edmund Burke said quoted from here: Quote Details: Edmund Burke: All that is necessary... - The Quotations Page: "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." In our culture today one could ask who are those "good men?" Today those that are less than "good men" would want all people to think everyone is a crook and without honor. When they get you thinking that way then everyone would be thought of as being without honor. Crooks are always going around undermining men of honor. Men of honor need not apply today since our culture does not identify any as a "good men." The it "goes both ways" note quoted above is to be taken in this context. Therefore, any behavior may seem to be justified no manner how reprehensible, even a holocaust can seem a reasonable endeavor. Socialist are known for holocaust type behavior, at least they were in the 20th Century; i.e., China, U.S.S.R., Cambodia and Germany where over 100 million of their own people were killed in the name of socialism and their experiments with social equality. I think I have said enough in this thread. Thanks
