Maybe something you should consider.

FYI speaker repair kits here: http://www.decware.com/newsite/foams.htm This link will direct you to another page where you can find the repair stuff.

Just remember you are still doing equalization to shape the sound to what you think it should be and possibly not what it actually was meant to be by the artist and sound engineer.

When I was designing a web site for myself and another guy for a database oriented site I planned on having two locations both in diverse locations just to keep any outages from hitting both with automatic dual data sets at both locations. The thought was that if anything and I mean anything happened that I would have one site working even if it were slower. Oh! well, we all can't do what it optimum at the right time. I am sure Jude will not allow this to happen again. At least in the same manner.

The Yamamoto HA-02 also has a bit a history of taking a while to get. Mine took about 12 weeks. I think their tooling cycle is about 6-7 weeks around for the product line. So if you get in at the right time you may get it as short as 7 weeks.

Hardware equalization can get real expensive though.

Yea been watching from the start as well. I have really enjoyed it so far. They are struggling to give Chuck some depth and it is hard in a show like this.

At least you don't have that one that sounds "a bit weird" yet. You can't say yours is worst than mine...no you can't; but if you do then I will not fight you for it.

Head-case has become the island of mis-fit toys; oh, that should be people. It is that time of the year for Rudolpf to get lost you know.

Are you saying that the SP Extreme Platinum sounds "a bit weird?" Interesting...but I am glad after paying so much you are really enjoying it.

As for myself I had just printed it out to a .mdi file just before it went down. But I only have two pages of feedback. But what good is it?

Here is another temp solution: http://www.decware.com/newsite/mainmenu.htm?/newsite/dm944.htm&intro for 675$ or http://www.decware.com/newsite/images/tabooblacksmall.jpg for 995$ To be found at www.decware.com . Check out the HDT speakers while you are at it. These have been very well reviewed over in the Asylum and AudioKarma.

When do you consider an amp "high end"
slwiser replied to postjack's topic in Headphone Amplification
^I think this is a very good short description of the Yamamoto HA-02. It is my best amp and I really enjoy it but I am not under any illusions about it being the best. Here are some of my impressions of the HA-02. I do like the warmth that it brings to the music that I listen too, vocals and acoustics. I don't listen to musically distorted music. From my perspective this musical type needs an amp that is extremely detailed to resolve those distortions in some reasonable manner and the Yamamoto I don't believe is built for this type of music. I listen to mostly instrumental, classical, jazz, jazz vocals and choral music which to me is well served by my essentially three component system: computer transport, Lavry DA10, Yamamoto HA-02 and the Ultrasone Edition 9 (UE9). I have set an approximate limit on what I am willing to spend on any single component of about 1000$ and these do very well within that imposed limit. I use the phase "reasonable manner" above because I am always at a loss as to just exactly how that music is supposed to sound since it's production is not based on actual sounds in the environment. In other words, the musically distorted musical tracks are completely created sounds made by the "artist." I can't tell how they are supposed to sound like to make a valid statement on this count. As for soundstage I really can't compare the HA-02 with high-end units since I have never made a direct comparison. I have only made direct comparisons with the Berning micro-ZOTL and AT-HA5000 which never would be considered "high-end." But against these the HA-02 soundstage with my UE9s the HA-02 is precise maybe not the largest but truly precise. It's precision in image width, depth and detail (resolution in instrument placement) is what lead me to sell my HA5000 after having already sold my matching W5000 following a detailed comparison with my Ultrasone Edition 9. I have directly compared my setup with a Cambridge 840A using a balanced CAudio DAC and amp setup with a balanced HD650 and HD580. In this setup the balanced system was very good but for myself I can't bring myself to say it was better in everything. Yes the balanced setup was slightly better in some things and clearly so on some tracks and clearly only equal on others. I came away very pleased with how my setup resolved things. The soundstage of the balanced system was clearly different, wider or maybe as I suggested before somewhere just looser (less precise) in sound placement giving an illusion of a bigger image. The instruments to me just seem to pop up out of the spacial fabric without enough precision to make me feel it was real. A good term for this is "surreal" sound image. I probably did not give this enough time to fully come to a conclusion concerning this in that comparison so this may be a bit harsh. Again I think neither of these setups would be considered "high end" around here. -
You have some real nice equipment in that sub unit. Did you say you have the matching speakers as well? WOW....

I was attempting a little "sarcasm" I thought. Maybe not. I guess I may have Head-Case sarcasm wrong? -

The critical analysis around here is not about what something is but what it is not. So the flaws would have to be what it may not have rather than any obvious flaws in what it does. None of the following are flaws in my book but in the spirit of Head-Case: One flaw is that it is not an electrostatic amp. Another flaw is that it is not balanced. But can become one with a second unit but we will not go there .... One flaw is that it does not have a Plitron Torodial Transformer. Another flaw is that it does not cost five figures or four for that matter. Another flaw is that is cost too much. Another flaw is that its depth to width ratio is backwards. Another flaw is that the volume knob is not a gold color or a stepped antenuator. Another flaw is that it does not have two headphone outs. Another flaw is that it's speaker power is less than flea power; therefore, it will not power 82 dB/W speakers. Another flaw is that it should weight a lot more than it does. It could be in a bigger box that is not so pretty. Another flaw is that it is not opamp driven. It is a mismatch for the K1000 since it is not truly a power amp. It may also be a mismatch for the K340 because of the same issue. and many others....... But it does have the "Pilot Lump" thing going for it. Oh, Well....Enjoy...it is my best amp though and I don't pretend nor fool myself into thinking that it is the absolute best amp out. -
