These two considerations; the one above and the one below seem to be counter to each other in philosophy and contradictory in nature. It seems the one below is the one with immaturity issues while the one above would suggest the behavior of more mature individuals. The above highly immature technique is apparently considered moderating this forum.... Is this clear enough for you, Joschmo?

Apparently...

Now that Head-Fi is back up maybe you guys can get back into the comfort of your semi-isolation and rethink your "open door" policy. Which seems to be "anything goes" but in practice is much less than it appears to be. You are still highly moderated but in different style.

This are still attempting to shape public opinion. So read and be brain washed. It is much like a nation's tax policy, it really isn't about revenue but public policy shaping.

The full version of dBPowerAmp that I use allows me great flexibility and speed at converting files. It uses both my cores and shows a speed of range between 80x and 100x during coverting FLAC files into Apple Lossless. I have also used its batch converter on a whole directory system of about 3k files. I do not use WMA so I can't say anything about how it works with those files. Ripping uses the accurate rip database.

Take a look at my new Blue Circle SBH Headphone and preamp
slwiser replied to Frihed89's topic in Headphone Amplification
Has anyone compared the Blue Circle amp with the Graham Slee Green Solo? -
I try not to watch the Vols since I moved from Tennessee since it seems every time I watch them the other team scores.

and end solution with less options for the future unless you sell it to get another Dac.. I have nothing against the Headroom solution but I would think it limits your options.

I agree the Lavry would and should not be the long term solution but for an interim solution before he gets a balanced amp but it might let hear some progression as he developed his equipment along. Comparing the Dynahi to the Lavry as an amp is almost comparing apples and oranges. Yea, their both amps but they are certainly not in the same league with each other as amps but the Lavry is an adequate amp for the short term.

This has been some of the best and most detail discussion about Stax headphones I have ever read. Mostly before the impressions were always that Stax is the best. Therefore, I had always kept my distance from them. Given this type of discussion I can understand more what each has to offer and what people see in some of them.

Yea, it "reks" some doesn't it.

Help Me Get My Computer As Source Sorted Out
slwiser replied to The Monkey's topic in GoRedwings19's Computer Help Hotline
My Lavry has three inputs and I have all three working. Two are able to feed files from my computer the other takes the output from the Oppo Universal player. Three into one output is nice sometimes. -
Has anyone ever used a "high end" LCD monitor?
slwiser replied to justin's topic in GoRedwings19's Computer Help Hotline
I am quite happy with my 24" dell widescreen. -
That is correct...my mistake in typing to fast without adequate re-reading.

Balanced Lunchbox setup being feed by the balanced CAudio DAC. The Lunchboxes have a single TSR connection. One handles the R channel. The pigtale is setup so that a four pin XLR out is taking the feed from both of those TSR plugs. The HD580 and HD650s both had balanced cables with a four pin XLR for the pigtale. The pigtale prevents the issue with shorting the TSR plugs. You plug in the TSRs before turning on the amps. Note this is also setting on the 840c that I also heard in this setup which I also has a balanced output.

I heard the a pair of Lunchboxes in a balanced setup and they are very good especially with the Senn HD580s. The balanced HD650s sounded good as well. The lunchboxes with the balanced CAudio dac feeding it and the HD580s balanced are a very very good way to good balanced on somewhat of a budget.

Amazing after only 2.5 years from when they were first offered. I hope they are everything you were told they will be. I am sure you will let us know. I am one of the ones that put money down on these back in Aug 05 but sold my place to someone else. Hope he enjoys his as well....

Looks like a head case to me. But those kids are entirely something else. Hope they grow up to be great well balanced musicians.

Thanks for the clarification.

It must mean that you have heard the HD650s balanced directly from the Lavry DA10 if I understand you correctly since posting about any impressions that one has not directly heard is verboten here at Head-case.
-
I edited my post to remove that very statement since I had not listened to the balanced HD650s directly out of my Lavry DA10 just for your benefit.

If you decide to go with the source first make sure that you go balanced output dac and both the Benchmark and Lavry fit that description as well as some others. This would get to further toward the balanced side if you finally decide to go that direction. CAudio has a balanced dac that would cost a little less if you wanted to look into it. I think it has a price of about 600$. I don't know if this comes with the dedicated PS or not. If not you still need it for best sound out of the CAudio unit and would put it at the price near the others. Another one is the Apogee miniDac for balanced output. I have used the Lavry DA10 balanced output with a balanced AT and it did not seem to be adequate to power a balanced low impedance headphone. Knowing the synergy of a setup is very important. There are many options and many ways to get there.

Maybe it is time to return to the womb.

I would not even go as far as saying that mine necessarily is better but that it may not be that much better/different than what I have that now. So far I would not think a change being worth the effort. If sometime in the future, I have an opportunity to hear this specific setup then I have something to look forward to and test out what I think at that time. Like I said elsewhere I just had an opportunity to listen to a balanced HD650 system with a 840c source. It could be considered better, it was different, but is it that much different for me to change what I now enjoy? I came away thinking not.

Oh! So it is site owners' personal attempt at public humiliation. Interesting. I am just wanting to make this clear what this is about. So the is an open site where almost anything goes, so that open discussions without any of the stuff (party line affiliations) that is so much associated around here with Head-Fi.org is not tolerated by those in "power."
