+1 on Reks' post. I'm surprised Yamaha is using the vintage 80's integrated amp look on this. Gotta love the square buttons and candy bar type dials for treb/bass and bal. Would be nice if it came with wooden cheeks.

Already been posted, not sure if you're being serious or sarcastic. But both Spritzer and Kevin have done this (with better quality transformers) in the past and both have posted there lengthy discussions why it's never going to be an optimal solution compared to a proper discrete and dedicated e-stat amplifier. Seem's that Eric is shilling the crap out of the RKV stuff and now this energizer on head-fi and Kevin has posted his technical counter-arguments why that energizer is an overpriced piece of crap that does the same thing a $150 SRD-7 energizer does Stax made over 20 years ago.

Nice stuff John, you love building KGSSHV's.

Add headphone output to a 6BQ5 Marshall tube guitar amp, bump up the distortion = CS300X.

True but that is only through forum's and his blog. He has revealed his identity to some knowledgeable diy'ers and suppliers online that I've had dealings with also. My original post did have some sarcasm in it, if you get what I'm saying. OP took the bait.

Two different people from two different countries. I know Craig from diyaudio and have had personal messages with him about transistors (Aussie too).

I liked the Stratus with the HD800 But I ain't ever seen the insides nor spend $3.4k on it. Still prefer the Manley Neo 300B for HD800's. DC filament supply? Regulated or no? I thought it was good thing for some designs as AC could induce noise inside. (Unless I'm mixing heater and filament around).

That depends I have had positive experience with both and use Kiwames on a daily basis but HV application such as the KGSS that's where I want to know if it falls within the scope of being usable or not. I doubt both manufacturers will spoog the specs on the datasheets.

Those DM88 are fucking awesome sounding. Don't think I'll hear it again.

http://industrial.panasonic.com/www-data/pdf/AOA0000/AOA0000CE18.pdf http://www.koaproducts.com/pdf/spr.pdf 350v (700 max) for Panny erg Kiwame (Koa) SPR2 500v (700-1000v max)
-
Well I'm planning to use them in my next rev 0.6 offboard build on the amp board and the PSU board (HV where appropriate). I've seen spritzer use the PPP and Kiwame in his builds and looking at the spec sheets and they are rated at 350v normal operating voltage with a max at 700v. The Xicon's on mouser that are mostly recommended here are rated the same (and used in my current 0.4). So the question is, are the 1 to 2 watters ok to use? They have ceramic coating and not the inductive stuff like the RN50 and equivalent Dales.
-
Are 350v (700v max) rated 1-2watt PPP, Panny ERG and Kiwame resistors ok? I've got another set of newer rev 0.6 offboard's with the feedback jumpers coming soon and I plan to build this one with extra special parts.

Even crazier that he only bought some of those head gear to help contribute the massive review write up he made. -
If my youth memories serve me right, do not click on the link. EDIT: Just realised fucker of an OP called us cunts.

Well it seems he is selling his stuff off. http://www.head-fi.org/t/711341/flagship-gear-sale-selling-most-of-my-stuff#post_10385819 -
SRM-3 same as Xh so that falls right into your sentence of all those SRM class amp's being the same. I'm happy to experiment and get my 323S PS regulated. I'm guessing new box for trafo, new pcb and new components and then an umbilical to feed the power to the 323S circuit direct bypassing the existing power supply circuitry? I'm wondering how much work is need to get the 323S pushed to the limit of the 1968's if I remember correctly is max limited for 450v ? Alright forgot that the 323S had 1968's filled out for the ccs role. By running the output stage harder you're meaning to push the output voltage a little higher right? Btw any idea what the voltage taps for the 323S trafo are? I'm really itching to rip out the 1968's out of my 323S for my KGSSHV build.

Aura's gif is spot on to my reaction.

Ahk cool, interested in the mods for the 323S, I've got mine here itching for mods. What about the 10m90 ccs like you did for the 007ta? The amp sounds fine but there is something about the 323S sounds a bit too light, hard to describe really, lacking bit of extension both ways.

Craig is definitely not NwAvGuy. NwAvGuy works for Schiit audio now.

And something to make and enjoy while listening to metal on your new cans and speakers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zTUfr-if3V0 -
Just correcting my last post as it seems I got things mixed a bit. The SRM-3 is an SRM-Xh with a bigger transformer and the 313 is similar to the 323A.

@grawk: Do you like that kind of music?
