  1. Placed orders for 150 mpsw06 and 200 mpsw56 LRAG's which seem to be the only ones available for purchase. No buy it now option for mpsw42's need these for the older kgsshv offboard's. What other semi's should I buy?
  2. Cheap scotch tape is sticky. The better brands such as 3M and others available in professional painter stores do the job too.
  3. Pardon me but my head is ringing, If I read that correctly, you spent for example $3k for a 009 which developed a high pitch noise, you sent it to Yama's for repair. Yama has gotten back and quoted $2950 for a repair or you can buy a new pair straight from them for $3250? So original 009 + new/repaired 009 = nearly $6k? $2000 for a pair of drivers bit excessive me thinks :/
  4. Yeh its really shitty with Staxes inconsistency I had 4 srm1 mk1 at one stage and none of then were 100% identical. They may as well just put 1 fluxcapacitor in an enclosure and called it Stax srm etc
  5. I for one am not getting a single clue of what the op is on about.
  6. Thanks Kevin, In this SRM-3 instead of the 4 A1901's there are 3 (4th one is removed) A1156's. I'm assuming they work in the Xh circuit too? What changes need to be made to up the output voltage.
  7. Always like the chassis aesthetics of the ES-2. Designing something similar with a two piece faceplate involving alu and nice stained wood for my KGSSHV and balanced B22.
  8. Spritzer - do you have a copy of the schematics to a Stax SRM-Xh? I have an SRM-3 sitting here with blown and non-original resistors in the output stage, what look's to be substituted C4630's (my Xh has C4631's rated to handle up to 2amps) and missing/substituted A1156's instead of A1901's like in my Xh. EDIT: Btw here's that mention of the tricked SRD-6 with dual triodes from YJ a moon ago. Listing is dead though thanks to n3rdling's finding: http://www.head-fi.org/t/223263/the-stax-thread-new/24195#post_9668116
  9. Those amp's have been on YJ for a long time now, Spritzer mentioned in the old Stax thread on shit-fi that they are based on the older Stax tube designs.
  10. When i asked spritzer how to change it as i my headband is flaking but still in perfect shape he said carefully unclip it. I tried and used a bit of force and would not budge. I didn't try further in case I break it by unnecessary force.
  11. Those pictures don't belong to the 0 feedback seller as that pair in the picture sold over 9k on ebay 2 years ago. This is the new Nigerian scam technique, they will say its shipping from Nigeria or Uganda or someshit and boom wallet is outta 3.4k.
  12. Corner foam traps if you have speakers with rear vented bass ports placed near corners.
  13. Spritzer will give them a little treatment from Thor's hammer to wake any imbalance up.
  14. You have to becareful with purchasing some of the Psvanes that cost less for a reason on ebay - low grade binned rejects from there factory that failed grade A category equivalents (costing abit more $$). I lost agood chunk of money buying Psvanes for cheap on ebay, 12v dual triode family, el34's, 6bq5's, 6sn7 etc, they either hummed on day 1 or not long after, mechanical ringing if tap the vacuum glass or red hot glow on the plates. Bought from there distrib list of dealers and has been wonderful since as well as there sound, giving some rare and highly tiered NOS a run for there money or sounding better sometimes. Ps im bit drunk so may not make sense.

    Hopefully not 5.5k.

Yep except they don't sound as good as even the stock HP-1. Nor is the comfort to be something commended. What's good about the YH-5M is good value within the collectors market. I remember buying mine and selling it 2 weeks later with no problems on the asking price to break even after shipping and JP currency conversion.

  18. You know Singlepower had some very nice cases for there amplifiers (SDS XLR, ES1 and ES2 above) shame the same quality couldn't be applied to there innard worksmanship and circuitry. Those panels look really thick.
  19. What truly determines the bias to be set for an ESL? D/S gap, diaphragm tension, spacer thickness? I've managed to snag an ECR500+adaptor box so I'll maybe try it.
  20. I really like it.
  21. That's too bad. Anyway I snipped off the end of the stock 4 pin din alike Sony electret plug and soldered on a spare SR-3 old plug I had. Do these things require some thing with a high ratio transformer or something because the volume is not much even on max through my SRD-7sb MK2. My SRM-1 doesn't even produce much volume to be heard. Opened them up and noticed that they have very thick pentagonal spacers, one of which has the electret film glued. Can I re-use the electret mylar film and add a bridge to one of the spacers which will connect to the bias on one of my Stax amp's, turning them into a full blown electrostat? Or is the existing mylar film no good?
  22. Do you like the HE560's..measurements aside, Tyll?
  23. For redbook and SACD the S2000 to my ears is a definite few notches above the Oppo 103. The quality and finish is also nicer but comes with the asking price for these advantages. The Oppo 103 is less expensive and a multi-function player that is decent to boot. If you want a good player with a nice balance of blu-ray movies/dvd and serious stereo audio listening then the Oppo is for you. If you want an excellent redbook/SACD player only for stereo audio listening and have the easy funds for it, the S2000 is for you. If you have a fat wallet look at other better players or buy both the Oppo and Yammy. 2c.
