  1. Thanks for that. Not sure they are willing to ship down under Aussie or a minimum order. I'm using the cable as single ended entry on the one opening side of my Sony ECR 400 which has been converted to a full blown e-stat. I'm a broke bastard and don't want to spend over $100 on a new pro-bias Stax cable from my distributor that I'm going to chop up so I've got a hand full of low HV rated male and female 6 pin DIN connectors and just need some wires now. I do have one old Stax 5 pin connector that I'll use to make an adaptor for. So far my ECR-400 is converted. Next up is my ECR-500, then a electret SR-60 which I've disassembled the driver to the bone and re-mylar'd but not sure how I'm going to connect the bias hookup wire to it. :/ No luck so far on ebay besides really thick lighting hookup wire electricians use, again not really applicable for the task I need it for. Something like an HV rated ribbon cable will do as well, again no luck on ebay unless I'm not using the right keywords for the right results.
  2. Anybody here might know where I can source some 600vdc rated mil spec 6 conductor core cables?
  3. This may be a possibility also. *Grins away*
  4. Saw this posted 2 days ago on another forum. Wouldn't want this sort of shit happening to anybody, any individual and any business of any sort. To be honest though judging from the way the Stereophile article was written about the thieves avoiding detection and was all professional alike, this sounded like an inside job with help of one its employees or somebody who has been inside there HQ, I mean the LCD headphones ain't cheap, but it takes a person who know where's what and how to move shit to rob $250,000 worth of headphones in over a few hours early in the morning. Could be a disgruntled ex-employee who use to work at Audeze. Somebody with enough knowledge and familiarity to know where things are but not kept up to date with knowing (for example the new EL-8 headphones) are stored in there warehouse. This ain't exactly like the TTVJ case where some of the amplifiers robbed were already high 4-5 digit priced gears. Maybe due to the latest boom in head gear audio, maybe we are dealing with a new syndicate targeting specific companies and stores and businesses? My 2c.
  5. With more plankton.
  6. Those prices look good remolon if you go forth with the GB.
  7. The Sigma/404 well I used the 303 drivers instead which is the identical drivers used in the 404 sounded very balanced due to the nature i explained i my post.
  8. Glad I'm no the only who has had trouble with Mills resistors and there blotchy thermal heat dissipation ratings.
  9. Well given you already have a buyer interested in your MK1 that's half the hassle and trouble with offloading the amp off gone. Get the MK2.
  10. This. The end be all decision for me is *Drums rolling* The price for a set!
  11. What the noise about this new Pass amp? Cannot find anything about it on google except Nelson's white paper on electrostatic amplification concepts....
  12. Given that used 202's from YJ go for cheap as chips yeah that sounds about spot on with my pair, huge treble, not much mid bass to lower mid range but I find that surprisingly neutrally helpful on some recordings. The 404's are pretty bassy, dominant mid bass section but liquid smooth sounding with a little etch present on the upper mids that some people find emphasized, bright and uninvolving, ymmv of course. The problem with 202 drivers in the Sigma enclosure would be the sound would be too brittle and light sounding and the treble would be the main bit you will hear. The Sigma/404 combo is different because the dominant mid bass of the 404 drivers in it's stock enclosure becomes a bit more distant in the bigger Sigma enclosure thus resulting in a more neutralish and slightly laid back balanced sound with the low's nicely filled that even the stock Sigma's and Sigma Pro's fail to accomplish and provide to the listener.
  13. What headphone you got in mind? On the other hand my ECR-400's have been successfully converted to full blown electrostat's, 580v pro-bias is not enough these need 700vdc of bias or higher as they distort a bit when cranked to near 100% output volume on my SRM-323S. Have also carefully disassembled my ECR-500 drivers to see why they distort on bass heavy passages, sure enough the electret film has come un-done from the spacers, no fucking chance of gluing these back on especially after the disassemble, so I'm thinking of converting these to full blown stats as well.
  14. Conrad's product list indicate they have flat backs in that sized profile (350mm x 151.5mm) but the single flanged are limited to 300mm only. It's about $55 AUD a piece for the MF35 so it's pretty cheap considering I'm about 10km's drive away from them.
  15. How was the price, shipping and the turn around time from to start to finish to get the hs completed?
  16. Yeah just read the PM now and sent the funds. Even though the AUD is weak as fucking shit now compared to the US dollar. Paid via Family and friends with Paypal fee on behalf of myself so I don't get clipped with OP being a scammer or this whole thing fucking up. (Remember what happened to Tran?)
  17. Am in need of sourcing some 340mm x 165mm single flanged or flat back heatsinks (and I'll get my own custom L plates made to house the dozen or so T03 output transistors) that is capable of dissipitating 300watts peak of thermal output heat. Conrad Heatsinks located down here in Aus in my state doesn't seem to be contactable as I've sent two emails and no reply. Any further heap is greatly appreciated as I'm desperate to get this power amp going. (One of the fins broken off, so either new alu sinks or somehow grind and finish the broken bit off). Thanks
  18. Sirrah you should link the seller to this thread and it's last few pages.
  19. Shoot and try break Nelson's record for 1k+ jfets per board.
  20. 2 sets for me. Those are incredibly small dimensions.
  21. Fuck me my head is ringing, long night of drinking.... How small is the new mini offboards compared to the older rev 0.4/0.6 offboards? So a set is 2 offboard (1 for each channel) and 1 mini ps board, am I right? If so I'm in for 2 sets. But I'am open to onboard minis if a GB for it ever happens in the future.
  22. http://www.head-fi.org/t/677809/the-stax-thread-iii/570#post_9896950 I'm sorry to say that you got fucked over with a mediocre sounding amp (better options available), ripped off at that price and you received something modded by a clueless somebody. You should leave a negative feedback on his head-fi profile if he doesn't sort the "not as described shit" for you. Guess he didn't want to mention mods because somebody would dig up the posted pics of that mess and post it all over his F/S ad. SRM-600LTD you can buy for easily less then a $1k shipped from Yahoo Japan auctions or any other distributor from Japan. Pretty much a T1/T1S but bit more modernised. With $1.3-1.4k buy a used SRM-007t or 717/727 easily when available. Usually I'd say if it sounds good, keep it regardless of mods or not. But it seems the seller charged you extra for the modded components used, not to mention it devalues the amp significantly if you decide to sell it off. Which comes to another point I don't buy anything modded (unless by somebody who is reputable knowledgeable on what they are doing) by the clueless fuckwits on head-fi. Only clueless dickheads like "pchan" from head-fi would encourage this sort of behaviour (the same idiot who use ramble about 5000 hour burn-in magic with Stax earspeakers being the optimal set in time for ESL headphones, adding Audio Note capacitors to Stax amps and recabling Stax headphones with silver cables in the old Stax thread).
  23. Am interested as well because the ones on my Lambda Pro's are worn out so the earspeaker just spins 360.
  24. Would not mind a set for onboard and offboard.
  25. Im intrigued. What is the 909`s?
