  1. Dry Manhattan with Redemption Rye, Noilly Prat, and Angostura. Am I doing it all wrong?
  2. Ed, want to do a Car Club? Live name is Nightwounds. I'll do the tunes, you do the hamster vinyls.
  3. Definitely see what you mean about the hammerhead, just hit the track for the first time in a reasonably fast car. What an evil little corner.
  4. I'm still running the old Microsoft wheel, and it's holding up well. If it ever dies I'll be real tempted by a full Fanatec setup (or if I hear they're going under I might have to purchase one for longevity). LOVE the headtracking. I've been a mildly hardcore Forza player since the first one. Love how natural it feels, and the camera bobbing around a bit is fine by me. Still driving slow cars mostly, getting used to the new engine. They went ground-up on their tire and braking simulations and it's a pretty decent improvement over the last 2.
  5. Txt me some, G.
  6. Switched my sister's beer to a Saison but then it turned out she didn't need it, loaded into the keg yesterday. Made it extremely light, probably 3.7%, very pils-like but with quick easy French saison yeast that's happy at 70-80 degrees F. This beer found itself a name. Phrague.
  7. Yep, season 4 is the best. Loved it. Ric, it's already easily beat the Sopranos. I've only seen the first season of the The Wire but the rest are stewing on my drive so I'll get to them soon enough. I'm done with Dex.
  8. We're talking about a show where every character is annoying and has a grating voice. You just hate women.
  9. LOL, Jeremy Clarkson = The UK's Glen Beck? Shit. Don't know if anyone here is a Big Bang Theory fan but the guy who wrote the new development with the Raaj character must have known our old friend BSFerrari as well as I did. Freaky to-the-letter type similarities.
  10. Did they perform it at home for you as well?
  11. Tube weather indeed. Grant Green on the stereo while I research what it would take to have a beekeeping setup ready for next spring. Pure camellia honey, most of which will be converted to strong light belgian ale and mead. I'm swarmed with bees anyway, time to harness that shit.
  12. Tube weather returns to Tallahassee tomorrow! Just checked and adjusted everything on my turntable and rerouted some of the cables. Rocking some vinyl on the speakers right now, sounds great.
  13. Had a car rented for most of a week now but hadn't done much more with it than go to Tampa. Decided to go do the epic drive of my little corner of the Gulf Coast. Drove south from the big city (heh) through the forest, to the wild and wooly big bend coastal scenery I hadn't really experienced before. Hit a couple nice beaches along the way, one nice old historic district (Apalachicola), lots of miles of dead straight forest roads. Finally the big destination at the end, which I knew would be at least experiencing some pre-weekend activity from the Thunder Beach bikers gathering at PCB. First time driving in I chose the right path. http://maps.google.c...248.95,,0,-3.87 Yes, giant monolith hotel blocking the ocean view, Ripley's Believe It Or Not on either side of the road, with a wonderful hurricane apocalypse motif. Now I understand why MTV comes here..... Also drove through Vernon, FL on the way home. It was satisfyingly shitty.
  14. Raffy! Forgot about your text but yes I'll be at the barrel Hunahpus thing. Mike and John (and Vicki!) need to join.
  15. Brewing update! Kicked out two batches in the beginning of August, finally got ready to keg one up on the 9th. The first brewed son, an IPA made with Indian jaggery and not nearly enough medium (crystal) malts, suffered from many brew-day errors and calamities. I built the brewery on the fly, while attempting an all-grain batch the first time out. Ambitious, but rubbish. Turned out too weak and bitter. But, all was saved in the second batch. Made a medium bodied very dark brown ale (1 lb of chocolate malt!). Beatiful beer, kegged on Friday and force pressurized for enjoyment on Saturday. The keg will last through this weekends epic FSU homegame vs. Oklahoma. Biggest game in Tallahassee in many years, full ESPN game-day coverage, hotels sold out for 80 miles. Should be a good time. Next up, Belgian Spiced Wit for my sister who's about to not be pregnant anymore (as in she's having a baby the first of Oct, I suppose I should clarify) and requested a homebrew. The sticky mash scares me but I'm not using a false bottom so all should work out fine. dan, plz forward alaskan amber recipe.
  16. Good luck all. I bet the NYC contingent is already without power. Never thought I'd be thinking about Gene in a hurricane, at least not when he's in Maine . And yes I do follow storms for fun. Just watched the George Carlin bit on wishing disasters would go huge and out of control. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tceH2RS6V5I
  17. Thanks! Finally brewed my first beer on Friday. Most of the operation was a pathetic disaster but that's what the first time is for I suppose. Started playing Catherine last night, plan on finishing today. Good birthday. Imbibed last night: old forester birthday bourbon and the first bottle of wine I've ever truly enjoyed. Four Vines Maverick zin, was inspired to buy after I rewatched Oz and James season 2.
  18. Ah fuck, meant to post that in the other thread where Steve just said the same thing, basically. Because it's funny. But now I've necrobumped so it's here and all out of context and sucky. Fail.

I think I need a source for Oz and James. Been a few years since I saw that.

Yep, no reason to end it. I'll still watch, and I'm sure they'll nail it many more times in the future.

Not jaded at all about top gear, other than that I know how it's produced and why it can't always be great.I said I on occasion watch old episodes of top gear, and I've been doing this for many years, so some of them i've seen a solid handful of times. A few weekends ago when I was staying with my parents I sat my dad down and watched the Africa and Vietnam specials. That's a pretty solid statement of love. I just don't think that I'll be coming back for a second dose of Hot Hatch Scavenger Hunt or Watch Us Run An Electric Car Well Beyond Its Intended Use And Then Shit On It.

Can we go out on a limb and say there's nothing in that last series that will be classic? I tend to watch old random episodes occasionally but it's going to be a long while before I'll want to see any of that again.
  23. I begin brewing next week. Started ordering some of my supplies already, planning the big trip to the homebrew store on Friday. First beer out will be a light IPA, India inspired with jaggery used as an adjunct to bring the grain bill down to 10 lbs and maybe a few spices just to keep the theme (have Tellicherry peppercorns, cardamom pods, and black cumin in the house.) Plan is to have beer kegged for the first three FSU home games, which are the first 3 weekends of September. If the beer sucks it can go to my friend's condo 2 blocks from the stadium and we'll have no problem getting rid of it.
  24. Awesome. Granted I've spent some serious time in my life in laundry establishments and I don't think I've ever seen someone sort their clothes on arrival so I'll give them a few tiny points in that regard. My dead heat of July work clothes have their own special funk that I wouldn't dream of airing out in a cramped moldy hot laundromat. I practice the etiquette of running through the door and getting it loaded into a washer ASAP. No laundry bags for me though, just a couple heavy duty extra large plastic hampers.
