  4. once you go BA you never go back:p I love the ZD but the BA is just sooo much better. I know its a grand more but that is why god blessed you with 2 kidneys one for you and one for ebay
  5. The reserve grade will be out in a few weeks probably under $10 an oz. Well the top grade at $25 works out to $1 to $1.75 per 6 oz serving, based on 2-3 steepings per serving with an oz yeilding 8 servings. I'll probably bring some teas and home roasted coffee to CanJam.

Oddly enough I'd argue that we have more consequence than most countries given the percentage of our citizens that are currently incarcerated. We run roughly 7-1 over most western countries with a whopping 700+ (stats vary depending on source) per 100,000 incarceration rate still leading the Russians though (fucking slackers) they only throw 600 per 100,000 in the slammer. I would argue that the safety of an area has little to do with the relative incarceration rate of the local populous. The incarceration rate for shitty areas of L.A are far in excess of safe neighborhoods. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/23/us/23prison.html
  9. Dusty call and ask for Peter or Alice and they can walk you through the dragonwells that are in. There are basically three harvest demarcations we are in the earliest and most costly ($15-25 and ounce) the nest are probably (8-15 per oz) I pass on the next grade after that. The Panan Supreme is crazy good, extremely thick mouth feel for a green tea almost oily. I can't drink teas from almost any other seller after buying from these folks as they are meticulous about the quality they bring in. I also highly recommend the Formosa Oolongs from 2008, they still have a few available.
  10. Panan dragonwell two different grades, this may be the best I've seen in 5 years!! Shameless plug for redblossom tea on SF

I estimate the average BAC of crew will be around .08 at 6:45 or so so you can catch up with a shot and a beer
  12. Was in Vancouver this weekend after the win in game 2 the streets were flowing with great vibes from happy hockey fans
  13. My understanding is the notch filter is to reduce the 2k frequency, this info came from the guy that rewired my pair

Just to keep those over here up to date here is the vendor list so far for CanJam AudioLineOut/ALO Audio Benchmark Media Systems, Inc. Beyer Dynamics Blackbird Audio Crossroads Acoustics Eastwind Imports Eddie Current HeadAmp Audio Electronics Head-Direct HeadRoom Hearing Components (Comply) Lavry Engineering Locus Audio Manley Audio Moon Audio Ray Samuels Audio RudiStor Sound Systems Sennheiser Shure Audio Smyth Research Todd The Vinyl Junkie Ultimate Ears Westone Whiplash Audio Woo Audio Most likely there will be a few more adds as we are still talking to a few more folks in the trade.
  18. I've heard this amp and it is good but not great. Add a star for decent power and versitility but the sonics are average IMO
  19. damn those are nice looking headphones
  20. Tung Sol 6x4 WAs are a good start
  21. I'd take a pass on KT88s wired in push pull for $15K, you can do much better for far less. That said they are pretty and are nice as statement pieces I guess. If I were to go gusto I'd take a well done horn based system and 2a3, 45 or 300b monos.
  22. not sure 2a3s have the power in a SET configuration to do the K1000s justice but a pair in parallel could be great. I had a Moth 2a3 that sounded great as a headphone amp but strained with K1000s. I'm not sure 2-3 watts at 8ohms is going to do the trick.
  23. This was absolutely amazing I finally got to check it out at the LA meet after missing it at CanJam. It was groundbreaking for DVD entertainment. I am not so sure I'd want to do alot with 2 channel audio but movies and music videos are presented at a new level. They have a pad that the listeners chair sits on that to me really cool. It seemed to provide sub woofer info plus a visceral physical effect. You feel the tanks in Private Ryan it was mind blowing.
  24. To get you to k1000 bliss land I would urge you to try a good 300b design as they have just enough power for the k1000 and SET designs have sounded better to me than push pull and pentode designs for the k1000 and in general. Also do not discount something lke a nice tube preamp/SS combo. The minmax preamp mated with the first watt F1 was a stellar combo. I think I have heard the prima luna at my old local shop in Florida and they sounded good and were built well to boot.

great news, hope to see you there. You may want to try and arrange to be there Friday night If all works out the Hoffman talks should have a scary good rig for demoing the Music Matters 45rpm Blue Note series. Also probably 75% of the vendors will have something either debuting at CanJam or have a product that has just come out prior to CanJam. Sadly Joe Grado will not be speaking nor will Danny B be selling any used gear.
