Well I was on the phone with Apple customer relations discussing the merits if placing the liquid sensor on the exterior of the device when all other cell phone manufacturers (that I am aware of) place the sensor inside the phone under the battery. There stance of if anything goes wrong with the phone and the sensor is tripped all bets are off and they will not even entertain if the damage was liquid related or not is weak. There response was basically your fucked (in a polite and friendly way) and fork over another $199 so you can talk and then if you want the next gen iphone that is coming out then fork over another $299 (or so). So basically it's pay $200 to be able to hold a conversation on my cell for the next 6 weeks. F-that, Mike is hooking me up with a spare cell he has I'll use the iphone as a touch for now and search the market to see if anything else out there an provide similar functionality. Well after 6-7 Ipods, 2 iphones, and Imac and a Mac mini I am thinking of converting over to another more robust brand.

take the muni bus or cab to Toronado in the lower Haight for a brunch beer and a sausage next door, then on Haight and Masonic is Magnolia (decent beer good food) and down the block is Alembic (scary good food if you like organ meats and decent beers but killer bourbon/rye selections) Mike try not to kill yourself before CanJam buddy

my situation is pretty weird in that neither the mic nor the in line mic works with my shure IEMs. Logically they are two different entry points so not sure what the issue is, either way it's $199 to be able to take calls all other functions work fine.

come out with me this weekend for a brisk 8 mile hike with my lard ass;D

Greg the Ref dac is really good and on first pass sounds like a solid winner. Al and I are going to put it up against some stiff competition this weekend

AARRGGGHHHHH my iphone mic started to act up intermittently about 2 weeks ago and crapped out over the past few days. So I spoke to a fucking genius today at the Apple store and was told the little bugger was submerged in water at some point. Well I can tell you it was never submerged in water but I can see where the water sensor, the little white spot at the dock section had turned red. It got damp during a hike over a month ago and had no problems for 2 weeks then the mic started acting up. So instead of a replacement it is $199. I tried using a Shure mic from the headphone jack but no luck. All other functions work fine though. Any ideas on a place that may be able to repair this or am I just fucked? I've owned alot of cell phones in the past ten years and some have gone for a good swim and always came back to life but the iphone seems to be a bit more sensitive. Billy no hot tub adventures with your iphone.

There are a few good beer bars spreadout over the expanse of the greater LA area, Father' Office is the best local spot but my favorite is a solid drive away in Seal Beach called Beachwood BBQ. It is 28 miles away but the beer is great , Gabe the owner is as good as it gets and the food is great as well. Vicki they have a great asparagus and if your willing to eat cheese they make a mean mac and cheese just ask them to remove the sausage. look the kid is going to have what 20-30 more birthdays in your lifetime, at least?? Maybe it is time to teach the young lad that life is full of disappointments, you'll be doing him a strong favor by attending and getting stunningly drunk with your buds.

If I had to guess and was betting I'd lay money on Chi-Town for next year but we'll see at the Papal conference that will be held at CanJam to decide next year's sucker, oh I mean organizer.

I placed a call into Ayre today to see if we could get one of these for CanJam. The dude that handles this was out for the day so I hope to get a call on Monday about a loaner or Ayre presence. Not to hopeful on them showing up given the notice but am keeping my fingers crossed we can swing a demo unit for the show.

thank David (909) for the volunteer suggestion and yes there will be some volunteers (lifeguards) for the gear but I would still adopt safe gear precautions for things like l3000s and R10s like taking them with me when I wandered the halls and such. At the SoCal meet I took the W2002s out for people when I was there but put them away when I was gone or had them around my neck for testing with other rigs. I think a prudent mix of trust and common sense is called for in these instances. That said my trust and faith in the community has been amply rewarded in the 5 years I have been a part of it.
