  1. What Amarra is, is pretty straight forward and has been stated many times over, they are simply using their pro audio program Sonic Blade as the playback engine and Itunes as the GUI. Amarra is just the interface that allows this. This program and their other software packages are in many major studios, if it was BS it wouldn't be in use in so many studios. So far no one has been able to explain (that I have seen) why different programs sound different upon playback but they do. Wave Editor, Bias Peak, Amarra, Itunes and songbird all sound different. I have no idea why they sound different but they do, I highly doubt only one is bit perfect. I too hate the dongle but have gotten used to it, it would be a deal breaker on a laptop for me even with the extension they provide.
  2. 24/96 drop of the blue label bizzare label pressing still primitive live sound but nice
  3. I love this record!!
  4. yes but only because I got to know them through Al's and my purchase of their hardware. I do think you can buy direct from the website as well.
  5. my short time with the DA11 at RMAF left me with a very positive impression of it, DEW IT!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. I have the Amarra software and it is not an immediate WOW factor but very noticeable when taken away. What I hear is a more natural (realistic tone) better soundstage definition also a wider stage front to back and side to side. It seems to make my digital sound closer to top end analog. I'm going to go with the full version at it is going to have integrated needledrop software in future releases.
  7. Hopefully Gary and Mike G show up
  8. if anyone gets the chance to put the Lavry 11 up against the Ayre QB-9 I'd be interested in the outcome. At RMAF we had the Ayre and Lavry in Judes rig and the Lavy and Ayre we neck and neck. Many preferred the Lavry. needless to say I was pretty shocked but that is what we heard. Lavry was running optical out of the Macbook and the Ayre was running USB out of the same Macbook. Both were being powered by the Raptor which was surprisingly good with the HD800. I am an Ayre fan boy and was wanting the QB-9 to be superior but I had to admit the little Lavry held its own and more.
  9. it had a faster sound to me and had a tone that was slightly lighter than the hifiman. This is more a function of my personal preference as both are outstanding and provide a Maggie experience in a headphone. I could see many people liking Fang's over the LCD2 like a grado and senn preference thing.
  10. :asshat:they are infinitely superior as the O2 in either mkl or mkll suck balls:asshat: seriously I really like them but slightly prefer the Audeze from my very unscientific listening with different amps and sources at RMAF
  11. Dang it that would be perfect
  12. cool I'll schedule my flight for 12/4 then! Rock on. This will be the quietest meet as almost all will have JH13s by then.
  13. Jaco Pastorius Arex Jazz Festival 82 LP, Japan only release and great stuff if you love his Big Band stuffs. Awesome duet with Toots Thielmans on this one
  14. Looks like I'll be there I just cleared this with my boss
  15. Is it any good?
  16. While Jerry has not shared detailed information regarding sales by country I do know that the Asian market for these is substantial and the thought of custom IEM and potential hassles have not slowed them down. I asked about universals and Jerry seemed pretty adamant about not going down that route. You never know but I wouldn't hold my breath.
  17. I spent a few minutes with the JH5s and they are really good and better than others I have heard at that price point. The are however a large step behind the 13 in resolution and speed
  18. I spoke to Jerry about some of the issues with fit and while I can't recall the particulars the issue has largely been worked through. WHile I can't promise a first time out of the box home run I believe the redo rate will drop dramatically.
  19. call me and we can talk about who to potentially contact. They were stoked at reaching a younger audience and get that they need to reach out. It was a team effort and team Colorado came through in spades showing the best of the gear and more importantly the best of the community aspects.
  20. only in so much as well likely see more investment in headphone related gear from major players as they finally got it that we are the future of audiophile listening.
  21. personally I'd check out the balanced Woo 22 as it is more in line with what a B22 will end up costing you in the end and is my preference.
  22. Biggest game changer for me was when reviewers and speaker audio guys took a listen to many of the top flight rigs that were present and there jaws dropped many thought our rigs sounded better than many of the speaker rooms.
  23. yes really not a single pic not nearly as lame as the two of you choosing your family over headphones, speakers, toob amps and beer. I had a great time and did take many pics as there were plenty of better cameras around. There will be plenty of pics as well as write ups as most of the major magazines came by and listened to stuff.
  24. At RMAF JH has a balanced JH rig sourced by an Electrocompaniet EMP1 and powered by the Apache, it is amazing how well they scale. I do hope a few of the amp guys make a balanced amp designed around these.
